Thanks for your reaction. Chinese tenor Zhang Yingxi is a pupil of Placido Domingo and a soloist in the Metropolitan Opera. This song is based on a poem by the Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Jiuling who dedicated it to his good friend who was going away.
Dimash first performed this song at Everlasting Classics 3rd Seasons in Hebei, China, January 2020. One of the judges there told Dimash:
I want to tell you more about this poem, because I think for a singer, the depth of understanding of a poem directly determines the height of the singer's singing. In this poem, Zhang Jiuling is saying farewell to his good friend. This man is going to leave him and of course he feels sad. But at the end of the poem, Zhang said: as long as we are bosom friends, even if we are far away, it is as if we live as close neighbours, the distance is still very close. In ancient China, there was another poet named Cao Zhi , he had two verses: "The ambition of true men is everywhere / the whole world, thousands of miles away, yet are still like neighbours".
The judge goes on to explaining the meaning of these two verses:
True men have aspirations, their ambition is everywhere / the world. No matter where he goes, between these true men, between these ambitious people, they are very close. It's like you came to China from Kazakhstan, thousands of miles away, you sing not only Kazakh folk songs, but also Chinese songs. You are the true man in Cao Zhi's poem. Your ambition is based in Kazakhstan, but you are looking at China and even the whole world. This is the meaning of you standing on this stage of "Everlasting Classics" today.

Y yo también, pero no entiendo lo que dice porque no tiene subtítulos. No sé inglés ni ningún idioma, sólo el mío. Es una pena. No sé si es que sea muy difícil hacerlo, pero muchos reactores lo tienen. Me planteo a veces que por mucho que me guste verlos reaccionar, creo que me quitaré de la suscripción. Todo el que no lo ponga con subtítulos me quitaré de la suscripción. Lo siento pero me da coraje no saber qué dice. I wonder if you could adjust the settings for your captions to make them easier to read? When the letters are gray against a black background - & necessarily so small, being pic-within-pic - they're hard to read. Perhaps you could adjust them to be like they are on the original video where they're white against black?

no se porque pero yo siento que en la segunda parte de esta cancion el cantante zhang se desafino bastante... que a dimash se le ve en la cara que le costaba cantar con el hasta que despues ya se calmo otra vez...la he escuchado varias veces y siempre siento lo mismo.... es solo mi apreciacion.... gracias
No No No, ITN, you should watch other version where Dimash sang this masterpiece solo. It worth to watch. Muuuuch better. It’s one of all Dears top favorites. I think they didn’t match together at all. Other version shows the beauty of the song and have lyrics. This is an old Chinese poem with beautiful poetry. And Dimash first sang it as a song.
