It's amazing when an acclaimed operatic tenor, Zhang Yingxi, who studied for 3 years under Plácido Domingo, is on-stage with Dimash, that Dimash not only sings with restraint, but sings in his baritone range so that the tenor singer can shine. Yes, I agree with you that any singer who shares a stage with Dimash must be world-class; but they can also feel comfortable knowing that Dimash will do everything to help them sound incredible. He's a very generous duet partner, and every one of Dimash's duets is remarkable because of this. This song, "Thousands of Miles" was written for Dimash, and he's the only one who has sung it. If you search for his solo performance of this song, it's one of his most beautiful vocals.

I agree, he held back so much in this, not only because this song is a gentle story but also out of respect for Zhang.
When he entered Shine Super Brothers he said that part of his objective was to learn to work with others and I think this piece proves just how much he took away from the show.

Look at his his face and the way he encourages himself with his hands when walking towards Dimash. He is so proud of having achieved this performance along with the Best Singer Ever.

Hello, beautiful song, a great duo, but as always, Dimash finished it off. Dimash is unique.

I love how skillfully Dimash weaves his voice around Zhang Yingzi's, starting in the baritone, meeting him in the middle of the song with the tenor and ending in the soprano at the end. Although Zhang is a brilliant singer (and you'd have to be to willingly work with Dimash) you can tell this is like a walk in the park for Dimash with no effort at all.
I do love the version he originally did on that show where they had to take a classic poem and convert it into a song but I'm so in love with the deep baritone range he uses here.
How many other singers can go from songs like Be With Me to Ikanaide and still keep his fans engaged with every note? He's a constant surprise.

Appearance on Chinese TV's festive New Year's program 2022. Dimash sings a duet with the Chinese tenor Yinxi Zhang, was a student of Placido Domingo and is a soloist at the Metropolitan Opera. (Description field)
This performance was cut ... what a shame. It is soooo beautiful. The song is about the friendship between two people. Though thousands of miles apart, friendship lives on in their hearts.
Dimash first sang this fascinating song (one of my favorite songs) on the Chinese TV show 'classic wings', which teaches young people the classics of history in an unconventional way. It is an honor to be able to take part in this event as an artist: Thousand of Miles - A Common Dream - ua-cam.com/video/zU29tAzs4Yc/v-deo.html

Thanks for another great reaction. The Chinese tenor Zhang Yingxi is a pupil of Placido Domingo and a soloist in the Metropolitan Opera.
This song is based on a poem by the Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Jiuling who dedicated it to his good friend who was going away.
Dimash first performed this song as a solo at Everlasting Classics 3rd Seasons in Hebei, China, January 2020. At that performance, one of the judges told Dimash:
I want to tell you more about this poem, because I think for a singer, the depth of understanding of a poem directly determines the height of the singer's singing. In this poem, Zhang Jiuling is saying farewell to his good friend. This man is going to leave him and of course he feels sad. But at the end of the poem, Zhang said: as long as we are bosom friends, even if we are far away, it is as if we live as close neighbour, the distance is still very close. In ancient China, there was another poet named Cao Zhi , he had two verses: "The ambition of true men is everywhere / the whole world, thousands of miles away, yet are still like neighbours".
The judge goes on to explaining the meaning of these two verses:
True men have aspirations, their ambition is everywhere / the world. No matter where he goes, between these true men, between these ambitious people, they are very close. It's like you came to China from Kazakhstan, thousands of miles away, you sing not only Kazakh folk songs, but also Chinese songs. You are the true man in Cao Zhi's poem. Your ambition is based in Kazakhstan, but you are looking at China and even the whole world. This is the meaning of you standing on this stage of "Everlasting Classics" today.

beautiful beautiful song and such a blend of voices. I agree with you that this duet did work out. The other singer is a true tenor as Dimash is even though at the end Dimash makes it sure that he can turn out to be " a soprano" whenever he decides to be so and that is what he does ar the end of this song. Greetings from Argentina

What a low register! But I like Dimash singing this song alone in "Classical wings"! Here's a duet with a Chinese tenor, a student of Placido Domingo, and Metropolitan Opera soloist Yingxi Zhang.

When the two come together center stage and begin singing, either they are lip syncing OR there is a track with a third baritone (sounds like Dimash) singing sustained notes that neither singers mouth is singing. Sounds too prominent in the mix to be a back up singer. I noticed it first time I watched the video and again this time. I have a habit of watching lips as I'm hard of hearing and in high noise areas sometimes need to see what is being said as well as hear it. Beautiful song. I think it has to be a back up track to their live performance as I doubt Dimash lip syncs. Great video, love Dimash. Great reaction 😎
