Thank you so much for this video, it helped me to make my watch working : the alarm were not ringing, because the back had been set upside down. I learned where is located the speaker and how it works. I was able to set the back in the correct position and make my watch fully functionnal !
Hello good morning. To change the battery of the Seiko 2000, once it is installed, do you need to reset something, or just change it? thank you so much. I just don't understand what it says on the front of the cover. Thanks again.
Almost thought I had to do this, turned out to just be the contacts of the coil. Bent them a bit and it's working good now

About that broken piezo - it most likely is repairable.
I have replaced a piezo transducer in a watch before, and it's pretty easy. They use epoxy to attach it to the case back, so a bit of heat breaks it loose quite easily - I just boiled mine in a pan of water for a few minutes and it fell off. The replacement can be stuck on with regular epoxy - you only need a tiny amount. Any excess that squeezes out can be cleaned up with acetone.
The replacement piezo doesn't have to be exactly the same size and shape, just as long as you make sure to place it so the contact lines up with the spring.
Excellent work! truly a master at your job. I was lucky enough to score two of these watches (Silver and Golden toned) however the coil does look a little bit punctured and it doesnt transmit with the keyboard. Do you still do repairs ? Hello my friend first thumbs up for your great work. I see that you are always lucky to get some spare parts from the beautiful old vintage watches. Had maybe only a question I'm looking for almost 1 year for the Seiko UC-3000 (UW-02 in Chrome) 2 front pushers as they broke away when removing the front pushers (clips) and I but because of the two defective Front pushers now synonymous not want to buy a new clock, you may know where man such front pusher (in chrome) still come from? I'm almost on Verwzeifeln ... Thanks in advance.
I have a UC-2000 that does not seem to communicate with a UC-3100 keyboard (that dose work). The coil looks like it's in ok shape but the few marks it does have may be enough to stop in functioning. Happy to send it to you for repair? The contrast level is bugging me. :-)

Hey Tibi great repair for the watch, I think I have a similar issue, except with the keyboard, I cannot seem to get any registration of ohms out of it at all. Do you believe that this is the same issue that the watch itself could have?
Hi, the Keyboard should read around 1k Ohm, if it is Open Line (OL) on your multimeter, or is perfectly continuous then you have an issue there.
@@VintageDigitalWatches thanks for the direction, I'll investigate further. The keyboard was working roughly two years ago, but it suddenly stopped responding to commands recently. It belonged to my late father so I was hoping to get it back in running order.
@@amplifierheadache Well it is only once I came across a dead keyboard and it had an issue with a capacitor. The coil is well protected and there is no reason to open the keyboard so coils in keyboard almost never get damaged. Let me know what you find.

Hello, nice work. You do repairs? I've bougt a uc2000 recently and as you said contrast can't be adjusted. I can clearly see the coil is damaged by previous owner trying to change the battery, who by mistake put the new battery reverse and sold it to me as a no runner.

Hello sir! My UC-2000 will power on and function perfectly for anywhere from 3-48 hours. At some point though, it will freeze on the transmission screen regardless if I pressed the transmission button or not. Do you know what the issue could be? It appears you are doing repairs again, if this is something you believe you could fix, I would be interested. Also worth noting, the four screws I use to keep the battery in place are of two different sizes, but do keep the battery shield(?) In place. Thanks!
This is a very strange behavior, I assume something is triggering the transmission button, per haps a short, also the screws of different size is no issue. Where are you located?
@@VintageDigitalWatches Located in Minnesota, USA. Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, it is weird. Once it freezes on the transmission screen, I have to take the battery out. Replacing the battery immediately gets it working again for however long. I am able to move between transmission screens and other screens as I please, but after a while I'll look down and it'll be on transmission and frozen. Also worth noting (maybe related?) the stopwatch screen LCD is faded, but no other screens. Thanks again, I absolutely love this watch and get so many compliments!

You can also effect a temporary repair of the coil using a graphite pencil
Correct, any conductive liquid material will bridge the gap, fixed one with silver paste and held fine for a long time .

Can be a number of causes, some fixable and some not. Start with a clean.

OK so I took the watch apart as far as I’m capable of without damaging it couple questions one does the screen come off from the plastic housing does it separate could be able to clean behind it the contacts that is. And second would you be willing to sell me a coil for the watch because I’m not getting any resistance at all around the coil so I’m assuming that’s damaged. thanks!

If I'm reading 20 ohms from the coil terminals, but they are attached to the watch, and the watch is powered by the battery: Would this reading apply to the coil, or are there more components in the watch that add to the resistance?
Wouldn't the coil's circuit read independently regardless if the battery were attached, and the watch is assembled?

@@Thesupercoconut98 remove the battery and do the reading again, should be around 3 to 5 kohms, higher than that something is defective. Also if the coil is interrupted you read infinite even with the coil attached to the watch.

Hi, you can use any conformal coating for this, I usually use clear(transparent) and it is called "V-66 Insulating Lacquer"

Hi, the coil is connected to the circuit board by two springy connectors. Sometime these connectors loose contact with the board, check them.
