- Joel Morais Fernandes lives in Timor Leste. After a motorbike accident left him a paraplegic, Joel became an advocate for others with a disability. When he met Australian and fellow humanitarian, Helen Nixon, his life was to change once again; after overcoming stigma and cultural differences the couple are about to get married.

People are praising the royals especially the British for their good work... what work: making speeches, cutting ribbons, patrons of charities? That is noting compare to what those two are doing. They are a fantastic duo doing real human work to improve life of the sick, poor disabled people. Bravo to this beautiful couple.

As a 40+ yr old woman who was born with both developmental and physical disabilities i have always wanted to go out on a first date but the only reasons why it hasn't happened yet is because ( from what I've constantly been told) I'm way to old to do so and because of my previously mentioned issues no man in their right mind would ever be interested in someone like me

As someone who's physically disabled myself I believe that people that don't have any type of physical or mental disability themselves shouldn't be with disabled people simply because there's no way of telling whether it's because of genuine interest and physical attraction or just some extremely stupid fetish

Not all relationships end in a train wreck, it depends a lot on the people's mind set involved. Sadly you seem to have had or seen some bad experiences. You see, there is something called true love-unconditional love that exists in the world even today. The secret here is as Helen said in the video 'commitment of love' being committed- richer or poorer annoyed or pleased abled or disabled

It seems like she using him for his disability check. I’m not saying that a able person and a disabled person can’t love each other but this relationship seems VERY fishy.
He doesn't get a disability cheque. He'd never be able to come to Australia either (immigrate). The lady is stuck there with him, he can only visit Australia.
