  • We take our first RV trip to the Grand Canyon, this was actually our first time at the Grand Canyon ever. We left from Flagstaff Arizona where we were working the Winnebago booth the Overland Expo West.
    We stayed at The Grand Canyon Camper Village Campground, which is less than 2 miles away from the South Rim Entrance. It is also conveniently located to shops and attractions, right through this gate here
    If you have a National Park annual pass use the left lane while entering the park as you are considered to be pre-paid, this line moves faster than the others
    Once through the gate you are free to roam the park, we headed straight to Mather point to meet up with some friends
    They suggest you arrive to the Grand Canyon early, because it gets crowded quickly. If you get here early enough the Mather Point parking lot has RV parking.
    We met up with our friends Denise and Nick from Capstone Adventures and began to explore the canyon.
    This was a Monday afternoon and this section of the Canyon was crowded, but don’t be discouraged if you can not get to a look out point, there are so many great spots along the trail to stop and view, in fact we found viewing areas along the trail to be better then the actual viewing area especially since we could get photos with no people in the shot.
    You are allowed to step off the trail and go out to the edge of the canyon, just be careful. If you are not allowed in a certain area there will be a sign that says stay on trail.
    After an afternoon of the canyon we picked up Belle and took her to the pizza place that is in walking distance of the campground, they have a outdoor patio that is dog friendly. The Pizza was great and we ended up eating here twice throughout the week
    The next morning we got an early start and took Belle to the Grand Canyon with us, there is a huge difference in crowds from afternoon to morning, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We walked a few miles of the South Rim Trail with Belle, the entire South Rim is dog friendly, which gives you over 12 miles of paved trails for your pet, they are pretty much allowed everywhere on the South Rim except for the trails below the south rim, shuttle busses and buildings.
    We even took Belle to the Desert tower, even though she is not allowed in the tower we thought the views from the ground were spectacular and since the top floor of the tower has been closed for a few years, we don’t feel as if we missed out on anything by not going in. Be sure to bring water for you and your pets, elevation is over 7,000 feet and the air is dry you will quickly become dehydrated if not prepared.
    Here is what I felt to be a hidden gem of a lookout, go into Mary Colters Lookout Studio and then go straight out their back door, almost everyone walked right pass this store, I guess the fear is that they would hassle you to buy something, but no one said a word to me as I went through. Just google Mary Colters Lookout Studio for its location. Belle is not allowed in the store, so I went through this one alone while Sabrina stayed with Belle.
    After a day of exploring the Grand Canyon we went to R & J's food truck. The food truck was located across the street from the Wendy’s, which is also in walking distance of the Campground. We give the burritos a thumbs up, they were very good and filling.
    After the burritos we walked back out to the Grand Canyon Chocolate factory. This store had a more than just chocolate, they also had an assortment of candies, trail mixes and gifts. I have quite the sweet tooth and was literally a kid in a candy store. I had a scoop of gelato and Sabrina had a scoop of Sherbert.
    The next morning, we took the Jeep out to search for the Grand View Tower, this is also in the South Rim of The Grand Canyon, but you have to go a bit off road to reach it, if you put Grand view Tower Grand Canyon into google maps it will take you right to the tower. I would say as long as you have a high clearance vehicle, you will not have a problem getting to the tower, we saw a bunch of Class B’s camped out along this road.
    All in all this was a great trip and we highly recommend taking your RV to the Grand Canyon.

      Hi Mickey, I agree those stairs were scary, I really thought I would be able to go higher than just two levels, but that was high enough to stop me lol. I will give Belle a hug for you.

    Sure miss your video and adventures. Great to see you. I have been to the grand canyon 4 times and yes it is a hole in the ground and not made by man but nature and there is always a WOW factor each visit. I hope to do the north side one day. The tower on the north side was open to climb a few yrs ago plus it has cliff dwellings to view.

      This video went pretty smooth on the recording side of things and we plan on making more travel style videos like this. Maybe we will even get better at them.
      This will certainly not be our last time at the Grand Canyon, we had a great time. We would also like to check out the North side.

    Awesome video KenBrina! I would definitely want to climb those stairs. Curiosity would get the best of me. I was raised in a 25th floor apartment, so I think I would be okay. What phone are you using Kenny? The video was crystal clear 😀

    • @MovingForwardAdventures
      @MovingForwardAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Thanks NoPro! You would probably be fine, I don't think this tower was more than 7 floors lol We will say though from the 3th level the views were only of the tops of trees, so to get a view of the canyon you would have to keep going. Sabrina just bought me this phone as an early birthday present 😀 it's the Samsung S23, It definitely takes some good video even while moving, and the mic on it is pretty good too.

    The Adirondack Mountains in NY State has many fire towers, just like the one in the video. I love climbing to the top for the best views! Thanks for sharing your visit to the Grand Canyon.........

      Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the top to find out if the views were any good 😆. If you go here, you will have to let us know if the climb to the top is worth the view.

    Shaken, but NOT stirred Sabrina conquers The Grand Canyon with her trusty dusty sidekick Cliff-edge Kenny ride again !!! I like these videos, mainly because they seem MORE REAL than comparable UA-cam videos of such adventures. Keep up the " grand work/adventures ", and take us along with you. Always, Syn Silver.

    That was great! I think that was the best Grand Canyon vlog I've seen. I wonder if the secret to the sad footage of other vlogs is the belief there's nothing to see there and it is 'just a hole in the ground'. Your perspective is definitely reflected in your footage! I can't wait until i get out there myself!
    PS KENNY! Did you say - you go up there and if it looks ok I'll go next 😂🤪

      Hi Angie, This could be the best comment ever as you know I am a big Justin Scarred/Randomland fan 😁 I think Justin makes some of the best vlogs ever. And yes I did tell Sabrina to go first and I'll wait to see what happens lol.

    Awesome to share your adventure with us. You would be shocked at how many people live in Arizona and have never been to the Grand Canyon. If you're still in the area, see Lee's Ferry.

      It was great trip and maybe we don't feel so bad about taking so long to Chek it out. This was a few weeks ago, but we plan on visiting it again in a different season and we'll check out Lee's Ferry as well. I'm going to look it up now.

      @@MovingForwardAdventures The South Rim and the North Rim, they are different experiences. The North Rim is longer getting to, so we've only been there three times. On the North Rim there are only a fraction of the viewing sites accessible by car. Sitting in the Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim with its floor to ceiling windows is like sitting in a cathedral of nature. It is a wonder. And since you're on the north side, Bryce Canyon, Utah is not that far away. Hiking into Bryce Canyon is much less strenuous than hiking into the Grand Canyon; Bryce Canyon is magical, mystical. The descent into the Grand Canyon can be dangerous, even for the young and fit. When I was in my twenties I hiked into the Grand Canyon, and it was very hard. I would have taken the mule ride, but I felt sorry for the mules. The trails in the Grand Canyon are steep and narrow. Bryce Canyon is easy, even for an old guy like me. Bryce Canyon also has mule excursions.

    • @MovingForwardAdventures
      @MovingForwardAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Part of the reason for us going ti the South Rim was also distance to get there, it's much closer to our home base. You make a good point though about being able to see Bryce Canyon while visiting the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We haven't been to Bryce, but would definitely like to check it out. Looks like we just need to plan for a longer trip when we do. I would have liked to have tried a make ride while at the GC, but I don't think my fear of heights would of let me take one down thar narrow trail below the South Rim. Maybe I'll try it in Bryce. Thank you for the detailed reply

    You have to go to the North Rim. It's much more spectacular, the people nicer and alot cooler.

    • @MovingForwardAdventures
      @MovingForwardAdventures  Рік тому

      We choose the South Rim forst, because of our dog. The North Rim is not as pet friendly and has several restrictions. We will try the North Rim on our next trip out there.
