I have always wondered what it would be like processing one that big see them doing it at TMR every so often.Really good copper percentages in them thank god for the fork lift it would be tough to manage without it.Also the saw saw blades have come miles compared to what they used to be almost game changing what you can do with them these days. Thanks for spending the time filming all of this for us i hope this channel keeps growing and all your efforts pay off brother.
dam then when the motor started rolling i thought it was going to flip the fork lift over, but you lowered the forks and it just rolled over without effecting the fork lift, quick reflexes Derek!
We use to cut a lot of service water line at the power plant that carried Ohio river water and had a lot of build up from rust to crud on the inside. Before cutting with a torch, we would beat the area we were going to cut with a hammer to knock that crap off. When a whole lot smoother.
Lol, cook it on the trailer :) I'm glad you didn't have to do that but it would have made for a great cinematic event! When these motors get rewound that's how they do it, cook it in a big oven. If you get this without cooking I will be impressed. Cutting from the middle gives you a chance but I'm guessing you will still have to cook it. Good luck man, stay safe. Awesome find and Awesome videos!
You should look into a good plasma cutter. You can cut thick metal and also gouge with it. Plasma Gouging is basically like a torch I works well removing welds
Enjoy it as much as I love doing it. Never seen one done but we're I'm at the illinois electric company has a few big ones in there yard one is over 10,000 pounds easily
Just a side note: You know you can use Propane with acetylene it does not cut as hot as oxygen, but it does work. acetylene/Oxy is about 5700º where as acetylene/Propane is about 5100º
Day 12 of checking for a new video, going through scraping vid withdrawals but I’m sure you have some more big things coming looking forward to seeing it hopefully soon
I did one about 20 years ago.. I rolled it off the lift about 7 or 8 feet up in the air.. my boss had me doing it.. I think we dropped it 3 or 4 times..
Sure is a lot of work especially for one person you definitely deserve what ever money you make off of it I had to laugh when you said about guys stopping and asking if you had anything to give away we have a guy around here who asks for your scrap for free then wants you to tip him for hauling it away not happening
Here’s an idea…what about using one of the live edge log cutters that cut a log longitudinally, and put a metal cutting blade on it for a beast like the motor you’ve been working on….??
I remember when me and my friend torch cutt old tug boat and it was extremely hard when we went down to the bottom layers.. I would say at least 8 maybe 9 layer.. Bottom of the tug boat was patched numerous times.. Trapped air and grease was making crazy amount of explosive flame.. Yes it was big suker we fill up two 40 yard container)
First you need to and cut the fiberglass top stick out or the copper will not come out. Then take a bar that will fit in the slot taper one side down to a point and you can go in under each wire and pray it out tell you get one slot empty
Before you cook it I'd try your hydraulic shears with the spreaders and see if you can't get in behind em and get em started. Once broke loose you may be able to pick up on em with the fork lift and pull em out.
You definitely have 500 pounds, I think, you sure have giving me ideas for my next one What’s wrong with your neighbours giving other scrappers stuff, I would be tuning them up That was a 💩 pile of work for one day
Weld it to the end of a steel road plate, drive the forklift on the plate to keep it down, then pull it out with the forks? Don't know if that would work. Would be awesome to see. You could weld em directly or make a crude jig with 2 u-bars to keep te rotor down. Curious to know if you see any problems with that solution.
Hey dude you’re gonna love the shorts I found on UA-cam. 3T Motor recycling machine Channel. I watched about 100 of them and you’re definitely gonna find an idea for your next toy build 😎
Use the fork lift with a rigged piece of steel atached to poke out each of those sections of copper. But that will take alot of patience and concentration. I think cooking it is the easiest and probably funest to watch
It's so disheartening that your next video hasn't posted in 9 days and counting. I find myself constantly looking for that video of that copper being pulled from that stator.
Love the cam shot of you blowing thru the metal with the cam under it!
Thanks!
we missed your content 🙂
Thanks!

lol all the comments so far right on, we have all been waiting for this, been hoping Derek wasn't sick
Thanks, not sick just hustling.
L, o, l, you should totally make a plexi or glass case for the go pro. Because the angle looking up as you're using the plasma Torch is great!❤
Been waiting for this right here break it down Derek
Thanks!
awesome job i envy u !
Thanks!
dam then when the motor started rolling i thought it was going to flip the fork lift over, but you lowered the forks and it just rolled over without effecting the fork lift, quick reflexes Derek!
Thanks, I was hoping it stoped rolling. lol
Been waiting for video. Also your getting great views on the videos

Thanks, I will try that next time.
The fire will keep you warm! 🥶

I want to see you make a big fire inside of those things!!!!!!
😂😂😂

Thanks I am looking at a few.
been looking for this WHOOOOO!
👍👍👍
When the scrappers ask, just point at their car and say, "Get rid of that shit off my property!!!"...... 😂
Enjoy it as much as I love doing it. Never seen one done but we're I'm at the illinois electric company has a few big ones in there yard one is over 10,000 pounds easily
Wow!
Just for the heck of it. I'd try some air hammer liberation, which might help loosing anything
I tried it did nothing. lol The glue on this thing is no joke.
damn,thats a lot of pownding,,if you go that way.But,so far,so good.$$$$$$$
Thanks!
That shot at 11:20 was cool
Just a side note: You know you can use Propane with acetylene it does not cut as hot as oxygen, but it does work. acetylene/Oxy is about 5700º where as acetylene/Propane is about 5100º
Yes I know, that's what they use at the scrap yard in Miami.
Day 12 of checking for a new video, going through scraping vid withdrawals but I’m sure you have some more big things coming looking forward to seeing it hopefully soon

Wow!
Great
that was a big thing to cut but i dont think cooking it will help alot but if thats what you have to do ok ,great video thank you for sharing with us
Thanks!
Sure is a lot of work especially for one person you definitely deserve what ever money you make off of it
I had to laugh when you said about guys stopping and asking if you had anything to give away we have a guy around here who asks for your scrap for free then wants you to tip him for hauling it away not happening
Wow! lol
Hope you are doing well, looking forward for the next video soon
Thanks!
Just a tip for next time. Stand it up on end, dump some wood in it, and let it burn for a couple of hours. It will make your job so much easier.
Dam, when the go pro fell when you were tightening the chain ,I thought you fell at first.
😂😂😂
Diablo Blades are amazing. The Circular Saw versions will cut mild steel also- way faster
Here’s an idea…what about using one of the live edge log cutters that cut a log longitudinally, and put a metal cutting blade on it for a beast like the motor you’ve been working on….??
It might work but all that for a one off would not be worth it.
Two 20t pull alongs (block and tackle) shackled to each side of the anchored stator
Thanks for the suggestion

Dude love ur channel put what u love to see sparks flying in ur face? Good try though
10:45 Nice shot
Thanks!
Another good video my friend still figuring it out waiting for you to kick its ass
Thanks!
I’ve been waiting for this shit my dude 🤣🤣🤣
👍👍👍
In my city the motor rebuilders have a massive kiln that they cook their motors in. Just a suggestion ask them to see how much they’d charge you
Thanks for the suggestion
Nice camera angle Sparky
Thanks!
The copper is still in it 👀

That was a 💩 pile of work for one day
Long story short, fire is always an option
👍👍👍
You better cook it)
Cannot wait for part 5!!! Any ETA?
I was Jonesing Man waiting 6 days 😅 😅
😂😂😂😂

Is working on these big stators beter money then stripping wire or breaking transformer

Even cooking it it was a job. lol
Could always chain the copper up lift it with forklift and get a jackhammer and hammer the heck out of the metal casing lol.
Thanks for the suggestion
Crush your sparker
😂😂
I got like 27 window ac compressor... you think there worth cutting open ?
Not sure why but I could smell WD40 when you sprayed the forklift with it!
Hook one side to the truck other to a solid post.
Thanks for the suggestion
What type of plasma cutter do you use?
Porta power will pull it.
So when are you finishing that stator bro we are patiently waiting.
Any recommendations for other scrap guys who post on youtube? I have heard you mention other scrap guys but wasn't paying attention at the time
What you need iza car shredder.
Thanks for the suggestion
Feed the Algorithm
Thanks!
Great video mate can u not start a fire inside
I will. lol
😁👍🦅
👍👍👍👍
80 bucks for a tank of oxygen? Jesus I thought it was high here at like $23
I miss spoke I think it's like $35 for oxygen and 70 for the gas.
PS been teasing us for long time.😂
😂😂😂😂
It's so disheartening that your next video hasn't posted in 9 days and counting. I find myself constantly looking for that video of that copper being pulled from that stator.
I don't think a fork lift will pull it. So it looks like when in doubt bur it out
Yes! lol
You could of just cut one end of the copper all the way arond and dumped it out without any of that work .
No you can't this thing was not giving up the copper that easy.
Funny people stop and ask me for scrap
😂😂😂
Can I buy the crown vic
When you uploading again
