Me too! Love how he needed to wash the crackers. So cute how he can get that flat wheat thin off the counter without using a thumb (because he doesn't have one), that's talent! Cat wants in in this taste test. Do YOUR CATS WONDER WHAT'S UP WITH YOUR RACCOONS, THE LITTLE THINGS THEY DO? (insert raccoon traits) Do they try to do the same at all?

raccoons are known for dipping their food in water! they would do it with non salty food too

They used to fish in rivers and would get shellfish and fish close to shore.
Their native habitat was river beds before Europeans came and America was built up and they had to adapt to live by people.
Japan has an issue with them affecting the shellfish industry. They have no natural predators there and were brought as pets and let go because they are not usually pets.
The population exploded and they impact the industry because they can eat non stop.

yeah they sure do! the babies I fed this year are almost all full grown! big fluffy things going for their winter nap!
@@Fritaly I raised two and we had them for ten weeks - then they went off on their own but we still see them sometimes. They grew fast! They shock me now, they are HUGE! They are about two and a half years old now.

Seeing a Raccoon washing the cracker before eating it is the cutest thing ever! That is why the name for Raccoon in french incorporates the word washing! :)
I didn't know that about the name, thanks for sharing. I feed wild raccoons and they are precious and sweet. They definitely make a huge mess in the water bowls.
Just another great reminder that most animals have agency, emotions, and desires, and an intelligence that approaches ours. Once we learn to respect that in them, we're going to get a lot back. But you obviously already know that, and you're doing great work. Keep it up!

Theres raccoons that used to go in our backyard every night and we often would feed them leftovers, we noticed they like noodles the most out of everything we give them when we have leftovers :) and they’re super used to seeing people around too, you can walk right outside and they will just stand there next to you, one even brought her babies on to the lawn so they could get some food too. We named all the raccoons :D
I ended up with three litters this year and one litter is so tame!
