5:30 - It was 1970. My best friend in high school spotted Furay's gift shop in Yellow Springs while out exploring the world with his first car. Knowing me as a Poco fan he offered to take me there from my folks house in Dayton - about 20 minutes. Even though I was a teenager with hardly any money, the woman behind the register (about my mom's age, maybe Richie's aunt?) was delighted at my visit. I emerged feeling pretty special, with news that Richie was recently home for a short time, and exhausted from touring. She also suggested a nice denim jacket she had to go with my jeans.
As for Dave Chappelle, he's very well-regarded these days for important things he's done for Yellow Springs and Dayton.

Poco was originally called Pogo. I remember seeing their first album in a record store with the name Pogo on it, I recognized Richie from Buffalo Springfield. Not long after that I heard they were forced to change the name to Poco because of threats of legal action involving the comic strip Pogo. All those albums had to be pulled from the stores and redesigned with the new name Poco. I wish I had bought one of the 'Pogo" albums that day, that would be a collector's item for sure.
That's the story I read, it would have been interesting to hear Richie's thoughts on that weird name change for the band.

I had the first album (and every subsequent album/CD) and it said "Poco". I think the name change happened prior to the album coming out.

Love it! Love Poco! Love everything you do. Thank you for your service of keeping rock history alive. My name is George Shaw and I live in Farmington, Missouri, hometown to Dan Peek. I went to school with his younger brother David and was wondering what your connection was with America?
    Thanking you in advance,
    George S. Shaw

Love Richie’s honesty and integrity. It’s reflected in both his music from the past as well as his current stuff. Looking forward to seeing his documentary that’s been in the works for awhile.

To be fair, Buffalo Springfield had 3 lead vocalists. Richie, Neil Young, and Stephen Stills all sang lead, primarily on the songs they wrote.
