The resource pages are safe, funny thing is that even Nintendo uses them, Mario Maker 2's sprites come from the spriters resource, they left out some background pixels in some sprites that match the ones found in the pages

The main reason people think its fake is because of the Email used. There are whole websites and communities dedicated to Nintendo fangames, they usually only takes down fan content when It goes viral or is in some way directly competing against them. However there is always a first time. maybe the Dolphin situation made Nintendo look at Steam's direction more. Maybe skibidy toilet got their attention.

It wasn't Nintendo and the add-ons are still functional, but violence against their employees won't make the situation better and it proves our point on how awful the Gmod Community is
I really want to know if it's actually Nintendo sending out those DMCAs for Gmod or not, because people have been saying it's someone falsely sending those claims for a long time and that Gmod creator finally fell for it, but hard to know what's going on without the full story.

I have half my comments constantly being deleted. Sure, a few containing mild internet-rage; but most are completely harmless. I don’t know what’s going on with this platform; the searches get worse, I get recommended utter garbage constantly (rn I always have at least one 12 subscriber kiddo channel recommended in my watch-next bar on the side), the spambots are still out of control (so bad, that a single bot could spam like 20 comments in a row on a new critiKal video - spam detection 20 years ago would have caught that!), the ads on videos get much more aggressive in number and length; I legitimately had a (skippable) 105 MINUTE ad the other day, oh - and the ad banners of course. All this is the lifeblood of this platform. The one thing you’d think there would be some effort. Nope. Full of scams, freemium games, conspiracy-cult-esoterical crap etc.
No screening whatsoever; they take everyone’s money.

@@pantelis5332 He made another tweet asking his followers questions and saying he doesn't understand. a bunch of people came forward and provided info comparing real DMCAs and fake ones. I would've included the link in the original comment, but that kept causing the comment to be deleted.

Okay, maybe not mods per say, but I will say in answer to Vinny's question: I've _often_ looked into characters through fan projects. Crossovers are _especially_ a great driving force for that, which naturally fan animations like Gmod are full of.
And honestly, after seeing how modern fan communities have proven incredibly beneficial for other game companies, I'm _really_ getting sick of hearing about Nintendo pulling this shit :/
Edit: Also, I am aware the general consensus seems to be that it's false copyright notices, and in _that_ case, I don't even know what the hell this person was thinking. But at the same time, the worst part is that basically everyone knows that Nintendo isn't going to _undo_ this now that it's actually happened.

There’s also a societal argument to be made to free up the grip of copyright (which we all know doesn’t work in its current form and is not a good thing). People should have the right to modify, share etc. things to some degree . This is the way it’s done for art for centuries. It’s just when corporations entered the scene, they wanted to make it the most strict for that delicious dollar dollar…

Have you seen how Nintendo handles anything internet related? their browsers on their consoles are crap, you literally need to pay them to use multiplayer, emulation and anything PR related with it, their exclusivity stance on everything, them never giving any rebates of basically more than 5% (if you are lucky) even for many-year-old games - this list of how extra Nintendo is for no reason goes on for pages!
Nintendo is led by a bunch of 90 y/o old-school Japanese corpo-fossils. They are literally Arasaka from cyberpunk. They are utterly out of touch.

Metroid prime mod was actually a role player in my interest into Metroid. Though it was after I discovered metroid, it made me aware of, and interested in playing metroid prime, as Id never had a gamecube. So yes, I do actually believe that GMOD assisted their sales to me (when prime remaster happened)
The more i think about it the less sense it makes.
Why now? Why gmod when there are countless other things that use MONETIZED Nintendo property? Why didn't Garry himself explain the reason this is happening? Did he even ask?
True Story:
My only experience with Metroid till I was like.... 15 or something? Was 2 minutes of Super Metroid that scared me as a kid and then Smash Bros. Nothing else.
I remember vividly watching VenturianTale playing around with Samus and Metroid related mods and instantly loved the 3D models. That made me look into metroid stuff with a lot more interest. HELL, I even thought Other M looked awesome. Now this franchise, which I knew almost nothing about for the longest time before seeing it in Gmod, is one of my all time favorite video game series.
So yeah, that hypothetical is not far fetched at all, it happens!

I've already separated myself from modern Nintendo a while ago. I know it doesn't do anything, but I just don't want to actively give money to support such practices. Companies all have this nature but Nintendo seems especially old fashioned and stuck in its own ways and has been since "bringing back" the home console market of the US. I wouldn't be surprised if its real and I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't.
This is why Sega does what Nintendon't.

When I was a kid I got Super Smash Bros. Brawl and I distinctly remember it being how I first heard of Mario because my parents were surprised when I asked who the guy with the red hat was. Same with probably every other franchise in Brawl. What are Gmod mods if not that kind of mashup but less organized and not officially sanctioned? Vinny is probably right, I could very much imagine a kid finding out about a series through Gmod.
