If this is a another Phison E18 reference drive with 176L Micron NAND like the Pro XT, It's impressive it was able to pull ahead of the Firecuda 530. Corsair is also very price competitive for this gen. I'm thrilled with mine.
Thanks a lot Techtesters... Finally my search for secondary game drive is over with this white 2TB model. I will be putting this in gen 3 slot only as now, I do not see any fast good drive less than this price even 970 evo plus is 150$ for 2tb variant which has DRAM. So i've been dying to get this answered for a while now.. Most if not all sellers (Megekko, Alternate, Azerty ect ect to name a few) claim and state this M.2 is 'optimized' for PS5 usage. im sitting in my game room with a gaming PC and the lack of a PS5 and wondering, why is it optimized for PS5.. can pc gamers not benefit from the drive? but.. This review video answered all my questions!
I've asked several brands before and none had an answer to the question "What did you do to optimize it for the PS5?". Other than that they promise it works in a Playstation it's pretty much just marketing.
Just to explain further; the reason why it’s “optimised” for PS5 usage isn’t just marketing. The entire reason why it has a smaller heatsink than its predecessor as the video mentions and shows, is because it now fits perfectly into the PS5’s extension M.2 storage slot, whereas the old one stuck out a bit and the extension plate that covered up the slot was unable to be closed because of the size of the heatsink. I know this as a PS5 owner who recently just bought and installed this into his PS5. Nothing wrong with using this on a PC, but you might as well get its predecessor if you want maximum cooling since the larger heatsink will be slightly more helpful.
Very good review. Loved it. I have watched most of your top end ssd's review. I have a question. Ill be buying two 2 TB ssd one for PS5 and another for my work desktop which does heavy program usage such as DaVinci resolve. I'm India, so in summer the weather reaches 40+ degree. Which ssd do you recommend between MP600, KC3000, Renegade, Samsung 980 pro if the pricing differences between them is $10-20 for non heatsink version?
I got xpg s70 blade, you can try that too, but get the made in Taiwan version. I would recommend getting Corsair for workstation and s70 blade for PS5. And get it with the heatsink.
Thanks for this review, you helped me with my PS5 SSD purchasing decision. I will keep an eye on this to beast for hit $300 for the 2TB. I wanted the 4TB but umm not for almost $800. I’ll have to stop being greedy. 😕

On all the other reviews, videos, posts it shows they are almost all at the constant 6500 speed in a Ps5, which says this is a defective one. Ps5 not as powerful to run the SSD to full spec?
