Man this is great. My dad was born in 1948. He loved wrestling while growing up. It's just wild to know that the kids in the audience are in there 80s, or close to it. My dads 72 and has dementia. I love how we can go back in time with old clips like this. It helps him alot. Thank you

That's awesome to see.. My dad was born in 1947, I was born in 1978, I grow up watching 80s wrestling, I remember Adrian Adonis, my father used to tell me there was a wrestler similar to Adonis way back in thw day, unfortunately back then there was no UA-cam so we were never able to watch these footages, my father passed away 2002 before UA-cam was popular, It's awesome to see most of the footage from wrestlers my Father used to mention to me..

They should add people like Gorgeous George in the videogames. We never get to see the ones from the greatest two eras of wrestling, the 40s-50s. He has a lot of charisma and does things that would seem out of the ordinary, especially in those days. It would be interesting to see older wrestlers in the newer wrestling games against those from the 70s and 80s and 90s. The different styles and techniques. He did quite good despite the way presents himself and that he does not look physically tough. He was definitely brave considering the area he is in and the stuff he is wearing.

Of course the younger generation might go with more obvious choices (Hulk, Flair, HBK, etc) but a lot of older fans and wrestling historians continue to mention George among the GOATs and most important wrestlers ever. Gorgeous George would have partied down with the greatest of the WWF and WWE wrestlers. I would have loved to see him square off against The Iron Sheik, Sgt. Slaughter, Rocky Johnson, and Andre The Giant. Could you imagine Gorgeous George vs. Big John Studd??? Or Brock. Lesnar? Or Shamus? We can only imagine the low-down dirty heel tricks he could have used to survive the matches. It would have been EPIC. RIP, Gorgeous George!

He was way ahead of his time and made a LOT of money! He was by no means a fool, the guy was brilliant, he redefined the term, ' working the crowd ' and took it to a whole different level. If I was going to be a wrestling heel he would definitely study his matches as much as I could.

I read that promoters would pay him 50% of the gate because he sold out everywhere he went. Other all time great like Freddie Blassie and Lou Thesz wanted to work with him because people paid to see George get beat. In his prime, its said that George made over $100K a year in the 1950's.

@@JayJackson1981 I've heard that as well. Just watch some of his matches, he needled the audience like a master, it's hilarious! They bought it all and hated the guy so much that in the famous hair match where his golden locks were at risk, they said some people paid $1000.00 for a ticket - in the 1950s! That was the cost of a nice new car!

I'm currently on my third one that I've found on UA-cam. He pretty much does the same stuff every match but it's still entertaining, especially watching him cheat. It's like he invented every cheat in the book. Flair claim he's the dirtiest player in the game but that's only because he utilized the low blow. George did everything else perfectly twenty years before Flair started wrestling.
