nice video and helpful. I just find out that flat-out fix is more difficult to do than Rohloff oil change. I'll try 15ml oil for winter time and put later more if got too much "noise".
Very helpful, particularly if the expensive oil can be made to go further by using only 15ml. I wonder, however, whether some of the sound-damping would be lost by injecting less than the "official" amount.
Actually Rohloff mention something about this and yes it might be noisier with less oil. Andy Blance, also from Thorn, on his "Living with a Rohlof Hub" publication goes as far as telling us we can go as low as 8ml.
@@mariopreston9232 Thanks for the reply. I realise that there might be a bit in the tube, which could darken the new oil a bit, but mine was yellow! I have seen the Rohloff video too, and their oil looks a lot darker too. Apparently, there is a yellow oil too.
I had coffee instead of tea as suggested. Hopefully this will not affect the gears in future.
;)
A great video - thanks.
I have just used this video to chaange my oil, as stated by others this is better than the Rohloff Video - thanks for posting
excellent video - very helpful for Rohloff speedhub owners!
I recnently changed oil by this video. It´s actually no problem. There is truley no better shifting than by a rohloff.

Thanks for the video.
I was just wondering, your new oil looks really dark compared to mine. Mine is yellowish.
This is because there is some left over from the flush. Have you look at the video made by Rohloff for the oil change?

What happens if by carelessness, hamfistedness or simply being screwed too many times that the hub filler screw thread strips?
We've never known it, but the hole could be drilled bigger and a short bolt could be fitted, in the field the hole could be covered with Gaffer tape.
I've heard these hubs can be noisy. Does the hub make a constant clicking noise in use from the clutches?
any noise is from the lower gears only, 99% of users find it no problem
"tighten to .5 newton meters"; how do I determine this torque?
Do you own a Rohloff?
What environmental catastrophe would ensue if you did throw it in the dust??
Bacteria will break the stuff down anyway. That's what they do.
