- Опубліковано 19 жов 2024
- Hi Folks
Quick video and hope someone finds it useful and overclocking your Fx6300 cpu on ASUS am3+ motherboards to 4.3GHz
The board I'm using is an M5A78l-M USB3 but the theory for all ASUS boards but may need some tweaking!!!
Also theory can be applied to FX8000/4000 CPU's with adjustment's
Remember all CPU's are different and some may need more/less voltage etc
Any problems drop me a comment

I owe you big time buddy! You have the same mother board like me is was very simple do to step by step. All set now, time to test on prime95 and then play my favorite game and hopefully i get better results. 🙏
Ace bud and enjoy those extra fps, let me know what you get 🙏🏼
Wow this is the first time I did followed some overclocking numbers in bios manually and I got a ~20% performance increase doing some encoding. That's insane! I'm gonna try to learn how to tweak the PCs properly. I don't care for this machine I can be cruel to it and not lose sleep over it. The bios menu on my mobo however... is awful to navigate. Thanks for this simple video. Helped.
Awesome stuff 😎 Yeah these FX chips really come alive with an overclock and some fast ram 💪🏼
I pulled out my old m5a78l-le same CPU as this and tried it exactly as he did but I only went to 4.1 g on the CPU and it's stable no overheating, I forgot how much I liked this computer. I never did any overclocking on it in the past because it was my main PC now that it's not anymore, it was time to have some fun with it. Thanks for the tips it works pretty darn good 👍👍
Brilliant! that's amazing bud and nice to here old tech finding a purpose again :-)
@@andystech101 to tell you the truth I enjoy using this more than my Ryzen computer lol go figure.
Ace 🤩 Merry Christmas and yeah I know funny that, I’ve got a 3700x and I much prefer messing around with this stuff 👌🏼
@@andystech101 merry Christmas! and lets hope for a happy new year
This resolve my cpu performance and unluck my complete 16gb ram usage from system! Thanks so much!
Nice overclock. I used to have an older FX 8120 which I loved OCing. Had it up to about 4.3GHz on a 250w air cooler but only with multiplier OC. BCLK OCing was horrible on that CPU for me though
I think from experience the 8000s don’t tend to like BCLK overclocking, have had problems with a few before but especially on these cheaper boards the 6000s love it! I could go to 4.5 but was unstable after that 😅
Thank you so much. I have the exact same processor and mother board as you so i watched the video to make sure you didn't show any initial errors so i didn't have to tweak anything else .. Rewatched it following step by step. Can 100% confirm that if you follow the steps it will get you to 4.3 very stable.
Hi Corey thanks for the comment and happy days 😎 sometimes there a little tweaking needed as every chip is different but glad you got the 4.3GHz 💪🏼
I report this from 2023, it works well. No extra heat but listen. 10W less power draw even doing ffmpeg video compressing? It always takes 160W from the wall, I got a wattmeter. But with this it uses 150W from the wall on ffmpeg. Interesting really.
Hi there. Brilliant video by the way + I will be subbing. Could I ask what power supply do I need for this? I have a 500W PSU
You should be good to go with a 500w PSU but depends on the other components in the system, gpu etc
I have the same motherboard and cpu! I followed your instructions and first try was able to reach 4.3ghz, but after trying to open a game it will crash. I’m new to this so I’m trying to figure out how to dial back the power but hasn’t been working. Going back to default values until I learn more about stability haha
If it’s crashing at 4.3GHz you’ll need more voltage to keep it stable. 0.050mV at a time. If not dial it back to 4.2Ghz etc. you’ll want to keep the voltage under 1.4v if you can for the long term.
@@andystech101 thank you so much!!
Hi friend, I did the same procedure as in the video, I have the same motherboard, but instead of the performance increasing it got worse, my Red Dead Redemption runs at 45 fps without OC and with PC it was 29 fps Do you know what could have gone wrong? (My gpu is RX 5802048SP with overclock 1336 and 2000 MHz clock nemory
Hi, I have the same processor (fx-6300) + 8 gb ddr3 1600 (OC 1866) + gtx 760 2g on my M5A78L-m lx3 board and I've recently become interested in overclocking. I started overclocking it on the bus and by multiplier + memory:
FSB - 220 (stand. 200, 5=100 mhz)
Processor - 3800+ 20 FSB = 4200mhz
Ddr3 - 933 (1866 11-11-11-30)
Processor V. - 1.35 (tried different voltages from 1.2500 to 1.3750)
but in my favorite game GTA5 I got only low frametime, with any overclocking I have low frametime, only without overclocking I have stable fps
What am I doing wrong, maybe I shouldn't overclock this motherboard?
I’d try and not overclock the ram low the FBS and increase the multiplier instead. See how it comes with that.
What RAM were you using? (mhz and GB)
DDR3 1600Mhz dual channel. Just standard stuff. Check the specs @0.58 🙏🏼
Just applied. Is this the best oc
An overclock worthy of running a country 💪🏼
should I try this on my GIGABYTE GA-970 Gaming motherboard? I have 16gb DDR3 1600MHZ and a Cooler Master Hyper 410R cooler. will II damage my pc or will it work?
The theory’s the same, just check you temps, voltages adjust as necessary, your cooler will be more than fine to cope, less voltage is better but that’s what was stable for this system. As long as you don’t go made you won’t damage any components the pc has good fail safe measures built in and you can always reset the cmos and start again 😊 good luck and enjoy 👌🏼
Hey i have a question. Is there anyway to do this overclock and allow the cpu to throttle down so it isn't always at 100% on idle?
100% usage? Or the clocks at 100%? It will use less power when idle but the clock will stay at 4.2GHz
Hey man i know this video is old but if im blue screening do i increase the voltage on both voltage settings?
thanks for your, bro)
Your welcome 😎
After this, if Windows starts fine, can you increase the speed of the ram?
Yes overclocking the ram would be the next step, just set the timings really loose and go for 1866/2133 and start from there tightening them back up and run memtest86 etc to check the stability each time, even just tightened timings on your current speed will make a difference 🙏🏼
I tried your method but at first attempt to reboot I got a message saying "preparing automatic repair". It hung like that for ages, so i hit the reset button and so far haven't gotten back into my machine :(
Hi sorry your having problems, if it didn’t crash and you got automatic repair on first boot that’s a problem with windows, best to boot into safe mode and see if any files need repairing. The overclock will just blue screen if it’s unstable and reset the PC and you’ll get a message on boot saying overclocked failed 🙏🏼
@@andystech101 I'll give that a go. I tried moving the voltages up a little higher and got to my desktop, but then it froze more or less straight away and I had to hit the reset button to reboot. As a newbie to this i disnt know if i dared run the voltages a bit higher to see if the trend continued, but I've since run cpu z whilst in game and I think I feel more confident now.
Don’t run the voltage high just drop the core clock to 4GHz, 3.8GHz ever chip is different some for higher than others
Cooling helps keep things stable as well, there’s some really good deals on Amazon at the moment for cheap towercoolers www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B08JTS91VG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
@@andystech101 that's a serious bit of cooling for not much money. Are they water cooling feeds on the side?!
i use asus M5A78L-M LX V2 motherboard and amd fx 6300. is it okay to use this setting?
The process is the same but every chip is different, you may have to tweak voltages/clock speeds etc.
much cpu voltage. try 1.2V and check stability system. maybe up 1 - 2 steps voltage. my FX6300 on ASUS m5a78l-m lx3 nice work 1.2V(bios) and 3960MHz, i think to try more lowest voltage.
Yes definitely the lower the voltage the better but I wanted it to work for everyone so that was a safe and guaranteed setting, I’ve not got it that low before but it’s all a silicone lottery 😁 cheers for the comment 🙏🏼
@@andystech101 I used 1.3v on the same motherboard and cpu and it started reaching nearly 95° Celsius, so I lowered the voltage to 1.250 or something around that and it lowered the temps to 75/70°C! Tysm man
that i must change the CPU cooler? or just use the stock cooler from AMD?
You can get away with the stock copper cooler but not the plain aluminium one, if it’s a little hot reduce the voltage and maybe the clocks a little 3.9/4GHz will be doable
@@andystech101 it's work, i set on 17x5 multiplier on 3.500Ghz. and everything's good on stock cooler. thanks dude
I’d say you can go a little more 💪🏼
@@andystech101 it's normal since today. but sometimes when i play valorant, at the mid games it turn to blue screen. so i decide to set down the multiplier to 15x, save and exit. 2game more i plays, it's turn to blue screen again. and now i set on 10x multiplier. i think the cpu overheat and the cooler a little noise
@@andystech101 i just order a cpu fan, not the better one but it's enough. i'll set on 17,5x multiplier with the new fan
The memory clock speed is the RAM or the processor memory?
Memory is the ram
I did the same settings as shown, but win 11 won’t start, I got the same processor and the same Mainboard, got one 8gb ram and 1050ti, 3 ssd one is the boot drive. I didn’t tried much but I hope u can help me out asap… 😅😅
I got the WIN 11 green error screen, screen caused by “inaccessible boot device“. Before the OC, it was running great. I tried to switch to AHCI but it didn’t change… any help ?
Hi sorry your having problems, you’ll need to keep the boot as before so if it wasn’t AHCI. Can you reset the bios back to default? All chips are different and some may not go as high, some may need a little more voltage, some my just flat out not go beyond stock.
@@andystech101 i actually fixed it, there was a problem with windows, i had some setting in my bios that windows had a dependecy to it. I restored win, now workin fine thank for u comment. God bless u.
Glad you sorted it 🤩
My overclock worked fine, but every time the cpu's core hit 100% usage (around 54°C) it auto underclock to 1.6ghz for about 5s. Do you have any Idea of How could i fix this?
It’s one of the power saving settings in the bios but I can’t remember off the top of my head. these FX chips will run down frequency on one core when under full load. I take it it’s doing it under benchmark?
Probably can't handle the overclock try lowering voltage or overclock a bit or possibly upping the voltage my experience is it can't handle it
My fx-6300 with same motherboard is stable at 4.5 some how running unreal engine 5.4 with 16gb ram and 2 gb GTX 750ti.
Happy days 💪🏼 they really come alive with an overclock
After doing this, my power supply started to make noise, I have a gt-6600...now I think it's broken...should I change it?
If your power supply is making strange noises I’d change it before it goes pop 🙏🏼
@@andystech101 Gracias .Lo solucione cambiando la fuente
Is 4.3 safe?
Yes 4.3 is safe, I’ve had it up to 4.6 but wasn’t 100% stable. Every chip is different though but most go 4.3 easily 🙏🏼
Using this guide, my windows 10 keep entering recovery mode......so i just return back to default and now can enter windows..,.
I have 16 gb of ram so what would you do different?
Nothing the amount of ram will not make a difference to the CPU overclock 😊
I have a gigabyte ga- 78lmt usb 3 mobo with r9 270x, 420psu will this work for me?
Yes the theory’s the same, your bios may/will look different but you’ll find the same options in there etc
my pc after a while turns off .. any solution?
I have the same components
Hi you say turns off? What in windows I assume, is this because of the overclock or is the pc running stock?
If it’s to do with the overclock, try increasing the voltage a little but don’t go over 1.4v if you need to go over 1.4v reduce the clock speed instead. Check temps etc and run a stress test on the system. Also make sure you PC’s ok stock! IE clean, new thermal paste with a descent cooling solution. Hope that helps 🙏🏼
I can make it using stock cooler that went with the processor??
Depends what stock cooler you have and what the current temps are like and if you have any headroom left, cheap tower coolers aren’t expensive at the moment £10/£15
Hello i have M5A78L-M LX3 motherboard can i try pls tell me thank you.
Yes you should be good for overclocking on that board. Just boot into the bios and check.
Bro can i overclock mine using the stock voltage??
Yes you can probably get away with a small overclock, just depends on the chip really
@@andystech101 thanks for the quick reply mate!!
So i just follow all the steps in the video and not tinker with the core voltage and I'm all set??
I wouldn't go as high it will crash. try 200MHz over stock, then 300 etc till you can't go any more!
@@andystech101 thanks bro, since I'm not changing the voltage i dont need to have a better psu??
Asking cuz I have a cheap psu with me 💀💀
@prakharm.216 The PSU should handle it fine we’re talk 10/20w at the most, just keep tweaking till you get the best clock speed/voltage etc
i have the same motherboard and processor and it pops up with the computer encountered an error.
I will add that I usually have a CPU cooler
Where does it pop up with the error? You may have to reduce the overclock or add more voltage as it’s a silicone lottery as to how far you chip will overclock but most will achieve the 4.3GHz

the problem is that I can't change the volt, something goes wrong with the bios, but the computer does not turn on to the startup screen.
I wonder if it is not the fault of cooling.
Have you updated to the latest bios? You should just be able to change the voltage?
Didn't work on my M5A78L-M LE
Gave error on restart
It all depends on your hardware, every chip is different. Maybe try lowering clocks or upping the voltage slightly.
@@andystech101 Thankfully it worked. ☺️

Где стресс тесты на 100 загрузке 😂
I use 4ghz its stable .... But in 4.3 ghz my windows crush
Looks like the silicone lottery didn’t pay out! Try a little more voltage maybe? These are old CPUs now as well and they do degrade over time but 4GHz is better than stock 💪🏼
@@andystech101 yes bro thnx in next days i will buy R5 4500 67 euro good budget and step by step to build new pc ....
I dont have j7mperfree
You will have the same options in the bios just have a hunt, what board are the using?
after doing this my pc dont boot up in windows i just get a black screen when i turn it on
Hi Emanuel every PC’s different with the silicon lottery, I’d start off with a lower overclock and if stable start increasing it, you may also need more voltage or maybe keep the ram stock as well. Cheers Andy
ugh i cant do this.. i got a crappy gigabyte ga78 lmt s2p... fuck.. i need more poweeeer...
I feel your pain there 😅
@@andystech101 Haha i mean. i only have 600 watt PSU with a GTX 770 3 HDD's and well this. i got it managed to be overclocked to 3.8Ghz and having the north bridge at auto but having the boost i think at 6600? ot 7000. I gotta find better settings.
Lol I thought you meant because it has a 4pin cpu power connection! Does limit overclocking a little.
They do like a lot of power those 770s 🤩
hello can you share my your bios, i have the exact same motherboard but do not have the jumperfree configuration menu please
Hi the same settings will be in there if it’s the same board just have a hunt, someone else had this trouble a while back as well.
@@andystech101 its not there, i have a different bios version, if you could share yours i would be able to install it, i am not able to install the ones from asus site, i have a oem bios installed, only way to get a retail bios is to copy if from another motherboard..
Ahh ok! It’s the latest bios for that board as I updated it before the video but the system has long been sold. If you’ve got an OEM board they’ll lock out overclocking features which explains that.
