Fun fact about alchemy, the poisons you make can be used in bandit camps by placing them into food/wine at night. By the next morning, everyone will be dead. This means that it technically is more dangerous than any other skill provided you are stealthy enough.
Yup, it is sort of overlooked by people in the game because everyone wants poison to work, NOW. But KCD has that sort of semi-realistic approach that things take time. The downside to poison and sneaking into places is that, if you're sneaky enough to go into places why not just stealth kill people? Also, not everyone eats in this game so poison is not 100% effective :(
I was sort of aiming to fill the entire shop from feet to head with potions. However, after the 2000th potion I dropped in the shop, all of them sort of just started to mesh into each other. It seems like they do not stack very well. The little brown bags when you drop them (like the herbs come in when you drop the item), do sort of stack and have physics collision. I dropped another 2000 in that back room, but I had problems that if you were not actively watching the items, the game will try to delete them. Which is why I had the door open. I was going to open the door and a tidal wave of poppies come out, but no no the game is not going to play like that. :( But I still had fun!

@@helicalgoose There is also a weird trick I found when you do the double-autobrew and press E while Henry is in the animation of looking away from the book, he goes back to it immediately and you can immediately start the next double-autobrew... it takes some practice to get right (if you have a slightly wrong timing, Henry will just flip the hourglass, which is still faster than waiting for the whole animation), but then you can auto-brew hundreds of potions in pretty much no time.

I avoided alchemy in this game ever since launch, because im a fucking smoothbrain and i thought i had to use the clock to precisely measure out time to boil and such. I also got frustrated because i would pump the bellows way too much and ruin my brewing. Now after a year, i came back to the game and realised how simple it all is, you dont need to hurriedly throw everything in, it doesnt matter, what matters is the order and the boiling can just be easily measured.... 1 pump of bellows = 1 turn. So i just pump, when i see the flames disappear i instantly pump air again and before adding another ingredient, i just wait until the flames AND the light dies down completely. I should have known that the devs wouldnt make a super-convoluted and punishing system i thought it was lol, people were casually mentioning alchemy left and right and my dumb ass was avoiding it all.
I completely agree with you on the alchemy looking intimating. The hard part about all this, is getting the books to read and figuring out the timing. But once you figure out how to make money and that like you mention, the bellows work as a perfect timer, then everything is just flawless. I will say, that I love the animations and how detailed everything is, but after making over 1000 potions, I really want a quicker potion motions for this.
@@helicalgoose Money? Never had an issue with that, i had issues with selling off stolen stuff quickly most of the time. But i am glad my bird brain finally caught on, mostly because of story/convenience reasons. Also, i have a 3070 and a Ryzen 5600, i still cant max out the game without heavy dips in the city lmao. But since its a Czech game, i have to give my countrymen a pass.
I am fairly certain that guy squealed on me about 15 times in the past when I was trying to rob the place. So I am with you on this one, screw that guy :P
They're delicious but not that effective in maxing out the alchemy stat. I want to say the Belladona is harder to find. There are a couple big fields of them, but they're more limited. But still, once you max out alchemy or get the routine established you will never need to buy again or either you make a ton of groschen.
Go to about 2 minutes and it starts the good stuff what you're after. Basically boil marigold healing potions, skip one step and you can get to alchemy max or till you get to autobrew perk and enjoy! It takes a little bit, but is saves about 1/3 of the time from doing a normal marigold potion.
Oh no, water of life sucks! It's really bad, Lazarus potion it basically mead and chamomile potions is moonshine with that perk! You don't want to be falling all over the place as you're fighting a tournament.
I 50% agree with you. The extreme drunkness is a big oof, but I always keep on hand "Hair of the Dog" potions for that. If you pop a Lazarus potion, pop a hair of the dog after that. The other key thing to stretch out the "Hair of the dog" potions is to apply the potion to a stack of "Regular water" bags. Every potion when applied to a stack of water, will apply to five of them. Thus you get 5 potions for the price of one. This is why I 50% agree with you since my Henry has a bad addiction to hair of the dog potions now, even if Water of Life is constantly making him drunk :P
@@yashuab.2979 You can buy it at any tavern or general goods store I believe. Most places only sell 3 at a time which is a pain so you have to visit a couple places to get a stack of five. The good part is that water is cheap, so in Rattay there are three Tavern/Inn locations close to each other. :D This also works with any potion. I like applying potions to all my favorites like Lazarus potion, bucks, nighthawk, and bowman.
@@helicalgoose Alright, it’s good to know taverns aren’t the only place, this knowledge sounds really useful! I imagine it gets really watered down the more you put it into water though lol
Yup the classic is the 1000 arrows you can find on bandits, also sometimes guards. I have not seen 1000 items of other things. This does comes to mind that maybe I should test out something to see if there is a duplicate bug with some npcs hmmm...
That is interesting. I never thought about it. Also, truth be told I do not think I ever hit the Main Level 20 cap. Off the top of my head, I think the main level cap is dictated by how much skills you gained overall. Thus my gut feeling to gain fast main level is to use multiple weapons gains skills fast, level up drinking, herbalism just anything and boom it should see some fast gains. I will have to research this more. If other people know, I would like to hear that too.
@@helicalgoose you know you may be right! I always level a lot of different skills and on the play through I'm on at current moment I'm at lvl 19 and it just so slow to get the last little bit but I have a bunch of skills at 20 so that may be why it slowed cause I'm not ranking up as much anymore and it barley moves. Looks like I'm off to pick flowers and make potions to get the last bit I need to knock it to 20. Btw I hate picking flowers lol seems so tedious and dull I prefer picking cuman heads lol axe mace and sword all at 20.
@@helicalgoose Main level progress only has to do with your progress in the main skills (the skills on the same page as main level: Strength, Agility, Vitality, Speech). You have to max all of those skills to 20 to reach main level 20. Progress in any of the other skills doesn't do anything for your main level progress.
The alchemy game is top notch! As mini-games go, they really nailed it on the head. My main complaint is that, it is too darn slow. It might be a way to balance potion making to not make a ton of money, but the repetitive motion all the time sucks because it takes forever. Honest, I have not made a single potion since making the cure for the village. Henry has near maxed out alchemy and has the auto-potions but meh, I can't be bothered.
Your videos are actually pretty good, so from what I can guess; the reason you're not gaining that many subscribers and views, is because your thumbnails are honestly lacking and you're making videos way above the 10 min marc, which lowers your average view duration. But hey that is just my guess and opinion. But if I could tell you something that you should definitely try, that is how to make better thumbnails, experiment with them and see what works and then do something that is unique to your channel so people who watched your videos but did not subscribe will be more likely to watch it.
Yah man, I completely agree on the thumbnails thing. I have been trying to think how to do "better" thumbnails for the videos. Right now they come out as "passable", but I know I need to do something. I have been experimenting a bit with the thumbnails, but I might need to do some research on that. But thanks for the advice, I will look more into doing something about it. If you have any more tips I am always willing to listen. :)
@@helicalgoose Then I'll tell you another one. I think you should make your content and thumbnails in such a manner that, not only people who played the game would click the video. I'm a sure you saw at least one comment on other peoples videos that goes something like this "I don't even play this game, but I still watch these videos". That is the reaction you want to have because you reach a bigger audience. So as someone that has the same reaction, I watched your videos that have exploits and the such. So you could try to make videos that bring the game to it's limits and explore in different ways. But to be fair, I intend to play the game in the future and enjoy to finesse games and just breeze through them, so I can't speak for the entire demographic. But, you still should make your thumbnails in such a way, because now; If I were to see your thumbnails without knowledge about the game I would just skip the video, because I have no idea what's going on in the thumbnail and what is it about. But still that is just my opinion and you should not get easily swayed by other people so easily, so just give it some thought and do it only if you're sure about it.
Not an easy way so far. The way I know is unreliable at best. I get gains, but the effort is not worth the reward. The best way so far is to go into the Monastery and steal all the books and just open and dump them. Treasure maps give reading skill too, which all you need to do is flip them open and boom. I think that the the best reading perk cartographer, needs level 13 or 14? But this can be achieved within a couple hours of riding to a couple towns and flipping books open. Maybe I had to read through a skill book? Hard to say. I remember it did not take as long as I thought it was going to be.

Also, i have a 3070 and a Ryzen 5600, i still cant max out the game without heavy dips in the city lmao.
But since its a Czech game, i have to give my countrymen a pass.
Goddamn townsman on the stairs. :|
I am fairly certain that guy squealed on me about 15 times in the past when I was trying to rob the place.
So I am with you on this one, screw that guy :P
saviour shannps
They're delicious but not that effective in maxing out the alchemy stat.
I want to say the Belladona is harder to find. There are a couple big fields of them, but they're more limited.
But still, once you max out alchemy or get the routine established you will never need to buy again or either you make a ton of groschen.
Omg the waffle in this vid get to the point
Go to about 2 minutes and it starts the good stuff what you're after.
Basically boil marigold healing potions, skip one step and you can get to alchemy max or till you get to autobrew perk and enjoy!
It takes a little bit, but is saves about 1/3 of the time from doing a normal marigold potion.
2:23 whats the Name of that song/video i knew it but its soo old help pls
And the Videos of this series are killen me hahaha
Yes, not certain if its an old one, but it is called Rataouille's Kitchen by Carmen Maria and Edu Espinal.
It is a good song, glad I ran into it :D
@@helicalgoose I never thought of that. This sounds neat, I’m gonna check it out next time I play!!! Hair of the dog potion is a good idea
@@helicalgoose I forgot to ask, do you make water or do you just buy it from a tavern?
@@yashuab.2979 You can buy it at any tavern or general goods store I believe.
Most places only sell 3 at a time which is a pain so you have to visit a couple places to get a stack of five.
The good part is that water is cheap, so in Rattay there are three Tavern/Inn locations close to each other. :D
This also works with any potion. I like applying potions to all my favorites like Lazarus potion, bucks, nighthawk, and bowman.
@@helicalgoose Alright, it’s good to know taverns aren’t the only place, this knowledge sounds really useful! I imagine it gets really watered down the more you put it into water though lol
Based
my game glitches sometimes and ppl have over 1000 items
Yup the classic is the 1000 arrows you can find on bandits, also sometimes guards.
I have not seen 1000 items of other things.
This does comes to mind that maybe I should test out something to see if there is a duplicate bug with some npcs hmmm...
omg I love you
Any suggestion for lvling up the main lvl?
The alchemy minigame is really fun but it's tiresome to repeat the same recipes
Hippie Henry...
Can you do leveling up reading?
Not an easy way so far.
The way I know is unreliable at best. I get gains, but the effort is not worth the reward.
The best way so far is to go into the Monastery and steal all the books and just open and dump them. Treasure maps give reading skill too, which all you need to do is flip them open and boom.
I think that the the best reading perk cartographer, needs level 13 or 14? But this can be achieved within a couple hours of riding to a couple towns and flipping books open.
Maybe I had to read through a skill book? Hard to say. I remember it did not take as long as I thought it was going to be.
th you mean handful of water 😭
you got a discord?
I have discord channels that I use, but not my own.
Not quite yet :P
