@@AnInsideJoke Here in Brazil the price of olive oil is so ridiculously expensive, that I'm kinda relieved that this is not an exclusivity of this country xD
Tbhh, for as much money as everyone puts into the sims "dlcs" 1k is alot of money for bare packs full of bugs that break the game i feel like if you wanna force people to pay that to play sims 2 but priced as sims 4 isn't really entitled
I agree, modeers and cc creators literally save the game, I would have gotta way more bored if it wasn’t for them. And I have more than half the game places yet I always find the gameplay bare. Though some may be entitled, without the community Sims 4 would have way more negatives than good.
@@Rabbitbanana09Not to mention, some mods actually fix the glitchy gameplay, like before I had Carl's Done Out Reloaded mod, I sent sims to eat, they never got their food, they even had to reorder, and their food still didn't come, they finally had to leave without eating cause they were starving and had to eat from vending machines at another place, but after getting the mod, I couldn't believe the improvement, they were quickly seated, they ordered their food, and one girl was even able to go use the bathroom while waiting for the food to arrive to the table, by the time she returned to the table the food had been brought, it was a nice dining experience, but it's kind of sad that a mod was needed for my sims to have a good quality dining experience, so I can understand players frustration with the game, it seems as though they've improved Dine Out since then, but I still don't trust it without the mod, besides the mod adds so many options, like letting people order from a counter and letting them pick up their own food, which means it's a fast food place, or you can have a food truck.
@@wolfpawz13 The mods make a world of difference, there are mods that are like actual game packs, some give you fairy game play, some let you have a full zombie invasion with real zombies, not those mother plant people from Strange town.
@@onidaaitsubasa4177 oh yeah I browse the mod collection yall have often, first thing I'd get is just QOL mods, expanded mermaids, the garden fix, more off the grid essentials like a teapot, broom, typewriter ect and ofcourse just fixes in general then maybe some better careers and economic mods hehehe
I know I don't watch the build but as soon as I saw you make the pond and the bridge I knew this was gonna be one of my favorite builds you've ever done. Jesus that was a stunning little house
I mean, people typically expect a return on their investment. By the time you have The Sims, DLC, Computer to run it, etc. it could be looked at as an investment. You would expect to at least be able to play the game sans bugs/glitches/crashing issues.
I think things like occults, or very specific themes (like Get Famous, Snowy Escape, Cottage Living, Jungle Adventure, Strangelville, etc) should be DLC. They add a different playing experience that might not be everyone's cup of tea. However, things like seasons, pets, open careers and schools, and most stuff Parenthood, Growing Together, and Lovestruck have should be base game. Weather, holidays, housepets (cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, fish, horses), in-depth work and school experiences, detailed family and relationship dynamics are part of everyday life, and should absolutely be expected in a life simulator game! I don't want to pay for all of these things, and not to mention, there is still so much we don't have! Pet birds are one example, but also: why can't I homeschool my children and teens? I often play with historical-themed save-files, and it's so annoying that my kids and teens always want to go to school. And while we're at it, why can't teens choose to drop out? In case of worlds, one city lot with apartments, one more nature-themed world and one non-american world would be a must! It's really weird that you can only move into suburbs when you open base game. And don't even get me started on kits! It's ridiculous to pay for a handful of objects that they could just put into any other DLC or yk, free as an update! Especially when one trip to CC land, and I can download three times as many stuff in an hour, for free!
If you have Highschool Years, I'm pretty sure teens can drop out of school. Or maybe it's a side effect of one of the mods I have installed. Either is possible! 😅 But I agree with your breakdown of what should be a DLC vs base game 100% - and I also play historical saves, and homeschooling would be amazing!
unfortunately nuance is something a lot of us struggle with. having criticisms of something you love and enjoy is normal!! and doesn’t mean you don’t still enjoy the thing. it’s “both and” love this build btw!
I feel like you can’t really call an entire community entitled. The people that dox modders? Entitled, criminally so. The people that think seasons and pets should be base game? Not entitled.
This is the correct take. Doxxing and threats are never cool, to the official sims team, to modders, never. But the barrage of "i don't want to wait a month to recieve free custom content you created in your free time, why should I pay small creators wah! I want it now!" Or complaining that cc didn't get released the second the hand hit midnight on cc creators announced release date or harassing them to fix a mod that just broke bc of an update without giving them any grace period to actually fix it when they don't even have to create mods in the first place, are a special kind of entitled that annoys me to no end.
I mean yes, some are. You have to be to dox a modder because you can't play without wicked whims. On the other hand though, we can be a little entitled towards EA, you know, with the amount of money we've been spending on the game(s) (I bought them since Sims 1, personally). But it's up to us to decide if we pay or not so....yeah I don't know lolll
Its up to you, but in the end you dont have more options since its the only life sim rn, so if you want to play and the only game is a buggy one that to play it you have to pay over 1000€...
My problem is less with people having issues with the game being broken or wanting things in the game, but more with how people go about expressing their issues or wants. There's a lack of basic respect shown towards the devs and other people. Paying £1000+ for a game does not give you the right to treat people the way some simmers do.
Hey, I’m also on day three of a migraine, twinsies!! You articulate your points so well though despite it, I’m impressed. I’m late to the Sims community but this seems like a good analysis of what I’ve heard about in regards to why the Sims 4 is actually rather different from what’s been demonstrated to be possible in the past and why that’s such a contentious topic. Also absolutely gorgeous build
Considering they now publish new packs and kits like every 3 months(!!), I think it would bet better if EA gave the game developer more time to work on each pack so they are 1) more fleshed out and 2) have less bugs. I think that would help that community complains less. But we're still talking about EA, sooo... probably will never happen :(
To me i wish simmers would stop giving death threats and being ungrateful to the sims teams but i also believe that when they lie so much or don't apologize for whatever wrong they've done there will be consequence
In fact, as much as i think threatening the devs is not ok and not the solution it is what they asked for. Years of lies and abusing their fans... They have an amazing community and dont even know how to give them a decent product
@@mmgg4940 The devs didn't ask for it. They didn't lie to you. Truthfully, Joe from Marketing didn't either. Target EA executives if you have to target someone. The working class programmers and artists are just as annoyed with their inability to fulfill themselves professionally, and mistreated with rushed development and unacceptable working conditions, as you are. If you want to take someone down, take down the big shots who don't even see you as a person, only a bunch of numbers on a spreadsheet.
It's clearly not the entire community though. I'm sorry but there's a huge difference between the people who just want their game to be worth its price and the Karens who think it's okay to get angry and spread personal information because a person is taking a little too much time according to them to update their free mods as they're on holiday. One is reasonable, the other one isn't.
I remember all of that when sims 4 released and didn’t have pools, toddlers etc…. Pepperidge farms remembers too. It was the equivalent of paying to go to a retreat, and being served nothing but cheese and mayo sandwiches. I’m glad you triggered this memory, cus now I’m angry at EA again. 😂
as a person who doesn’t have english as 1st language, i’m very grateful that you explained the definition of entitled at the beginning of the video bcs i had no fucking idea of what that means you save 5 seconds of my life bcs i was too lazy to search the meaning
Honestly I think it’s a “maybe” answer. Are we entitled for wanting an over $1000.00 US dollars game to work properly and not break every single time a new dlc is launched? Absolutely not. However, are some people entitled in the way they treat sims youtubers, modders, cc creators, etc? Yes, specially considering they do all their work for free. Side note, if you buy a pack and you didn’t like it because of the content (not because if it is broken) it’s kinda a you problem; first of all nobody is forced to buy packs, and second you can always watch the tons of UA-cam video reviews of packs before buying. So if you saw some reviews and bought a pack and still didn’t like it? Yeah, I think you are kind of entitled 😅
I think you made some very valid points and changed my mind o n a few things. So thank you for that. Your build is absolutely stunning. I checked the gallery because I'd love to place it in my game and couldn't find it. If this is one that you are keeping just for you, fair play. I think everyone needs to keep some things for themselves. But, if you DID put it up...I think the gallery is eating people's things again, lol. Well done all around. I'm always proud to be a patreon supporter. Not a single bit of your content ever lets me down. I hope your migraines ease up on you.
I'm like, not your definition of a Simmer. I go on a couple weeks of bingeing and then avoid it for months, but I own every EP and a bunch of other game and stuff packs for TS4. I can say one thing I don't understand is why Simmers just accept getting sold the same DLC for EVERY GAME. It tends to be standard practice where if something was DLC in a previous game, it becomes a standard feature in the next one. Why should long term players have to buy a Pets or a Seasons expansion for TS2, TS3, AND TS4? Surely, at some point, these features should just become a part of the game?
@@Yangy_Young hate to tell you sweaty but when I picture a total stereotypical "Simmer" I picture many qualities you mentioned immediately: 1. Owns a lot or all DLC 2. Plays infrequently but intensely when played 3. Thinks they're not your typical "Simmer" 4. Is such a hardcore Simmer that they're commenting on Sims YT 5. Don't understand why x feature isn't base game It's no shade, I'm saying welcome, friend. You're very much one of us.
@@pnutqpublic I get you but like, I play everything much more often and I don't really play Sims. I just kinda build stuff and make people. I more use it to scratch a creativity itch.
It kind of depends. People doxxing a modder for not updating a (free to them) mod quickly enough because they’re on vacation? That might be the E word. *cough* Someone who just has criticism of the game? That’s an unhappy consumer. Someone who hates the game enough that their entire online presence is hating the game? That might not be the E word but I don’t think it’s healthy, either, and I personally don’t want to read/watch that… but if other people do, have fun! I would call you a mildly unhappy consumer, fwiw… not that you should care what I think! (I like the build. Makes me want to vacation at a lake house.)
I feel like the only stuff that should cost money is occults and "vacation packs" (island living, snowy escape...). I don´t think we should pay for weather, pets, schools or fu****g parenting and relationships! I mean relationships??? Anything that has to to with the charakter and the interactions of a sims should be free (or in a game you pay for once!). I could also understand if they would do something like the kits, but with playable careers. So you can spend a bit onf money for exactly the careers you would like to have in youar game. I feel like that qould be a good start🤷
I think all the kits could be base-game updates, it's just items and not much gameplay (with exceptions like bust the dust). The initial launch of Sims 4 was really bland, and it still upsets me that they didnt include toddlers, that was a fundamental mistake. I also think some packs could have been merged together, like Vampires, Werewolves, and Realm of Magic; a supernaturals pack would have been better. But in all of this, the biggest crime, to me, is that the game is not optimized. Nothing seems to work together. One new feature breaks several preexisting features. Even updates to the base game have broken the base game, and that's really disheartening.
This is why I think all systems should be base game, like the like/dislike system of Growing Together and the Turn On/Turn Off system of Lovestruck are super similiar and eventually will result in diminishing returns in how it affects the sims. Lifestyles is locked behind Snowy Escape meaning its nearly become a useless feature since it's not in sync with new packs since then and there's just so many systems that if the SYSTEM was base game, new packs could just add their features to the base systems instead of creating new ones that are battling for control of the sim and eventually bugging out. There could still be likes/dislikes and turnons/turn offs or "lifestyles" that are pack specific, but by releasing the systems to base game they are not limited, haulted, and stopped by the pack they are tied to and it would make pack-to-pack balance so much better.
yea the funny thing is they didnt think on is vampires, werewolves, spellcasters, and maybe fairys is worth 49 bucks because of the skill tree of each ocult and a big world with each neighborhood being a different acuilt with two hidden worlds that's getting your moneys worth and they would still make back about the same quality over quantity was the best for them it sucks because looking at sims 3 the DLC were all so good and worth it so like what she said if you aren't going back to open world at least make two feature base pets/seasons make a farm/ranch-life pack two neighborhoods farming and ranching and you can still make horses separate from pets and the cottage animals wedding stories and Lovestruck can be there own pack together like if they thought this through less packs for the same prices and it could actually work out.
@@onza1317Some of this I agree with, but I am actually glad some things…. Like occult packs are Occult packs and not a combo Supernatural pack exist for Sims 4. I am glad Vampires weren’t shoved into some nightlife pack like they were in past games. Not everyone wants every Peice of content…especially occults. I just think they should embrace the game/stuff pack format and drop the price of both- but I think Sims 4 just doesn’t have many concepts that even make sense as Expansion Packs anymore, especially in the era of digital updates where they can just throw small quality of life things in whenever. Game & stuff packs allows things to be highly specific and therefore easier for folks to customize their games to features they care about and want. I HATED Zombies in Sims 3 so I would probably not touch a pack with Zombies. I also don’t currently own bust the dust or laundry day as I am quite happy with my sims NOT having either of those chores. I also didn’t buy MWS not because it was buggy, but because right now I don’t see why I need more than base game weddings and as much as I want tartosa, I don’t feel like I *need* it. But like I adore Island Living (one of its few fans it seems) but mermaids should have been a full occult pack and entirely separate from Island Living. Island Living could have stayed about conservation of the island and its native culture (though everyone seems to want to fill it with spas and hotels instead of living island life … but that’s why its a sandbox, play your way). And then Mermaids could have had a MERMAID pack entirely about being one. i think it would have actually been a good split to seperate concepts there. And a sixam pack about Aliens and not shoved into Get To Work might have made aliens way better than they are. I actually like the grab bag nature of Sims 4 packs as it makes it fairly easy to have mostly what you want and skip stuff you don’t. And if i have to wait for a year for a reasonably priced sale, I just do. Its not time sensitive content. It isn’t going anywhere.
@@TheDawnofVanlife i never said shove vampires in nightlife but have a ep with all ocults so your not picking and choosing and just have a setting to turn off the ones you hated like sims 3 had instead of paying for everything separately because it s still expensive and if it was combined with the option to turn of certain pack feature it would be still worth the money for some folks
Yes!! You said it so well. I don't consider myself a Simmer because I play the sims occasionally since I get bored with it really easily. I do consider myself a gamer because I play games from pretty much every genre, every day (and have a few specific ones I am good at.) Anyways, I will always feel like you have a right to complain about a product you purchased but all within reason. I've wanted season and weather in the base game since day one and still feel like they could have done it but I wouldn't ask them to add stuff that would change their rating nor stuff that wouldn't have been in a Sims 3 EP. I do think they should stop splitting content up though.
I get that some people are disappointed and dissatisfied with the sims 4. They are allowed to feel that way. It’s when those people complain about someone else liking the game or are excited about an upcoming DLC. Like yea sure it’s probably gonna have some bugs but I’m allowed to be excited just like they are allowed to be dissatisfied.
It should be the consumer's choice how much the money they pay is worth, not the producer's. Products, goods, and services cannot be sold without someone to buy and consume them. Therefore, for producers to completely ignore the feedback from consumers and refuse to improve, and yet threaten the consumers with no more product that they want if they do not pay too much, is a fair case of consumer entitlement. Now direct attacks on individual creators when the true fault lies on those superior to them, that is absolutely *not* fair, and is a massive overreach from the consumer.
I'd like to first state before diving in to what you have to say, you're build is absolutely stunning. I love every part of this build. Now for my rant, buy specifically to the community. I hate to be one of those people but I have played the Sims since Sims 1 launch. I can close my eyes and remember squishing up with my friend on her bulky computer in the living room playing for an hour or 2 (or until her mom demanded we play outside). My jaw dropped when aging was introduced in Sims 2. I remember starting college when Sims 2 University came out and it was so wholesome. Sims 3 open world created a whole new level of gameplay. Sims 4 also took a higher step (and some steps back) but it still provides the humor, semi open world- you can still wander, and as a whole what the game defines. The community, does flare my nostrils sometimes. Comments as "We didn't ask for this!" "We want this instead!" "UGH, another." Etc. Sims franchise, specifically Sims 4, has open this huge window of opportunity for every person in life simulation. EA does their very best best to appease EVERYONE one pack at a time. The glory A. you don't like the pack, no one is forcing you to buy it. I don't watch star wars so I haven't bought that pack. B. The gameplay is you do not have to be belted down into a developer set story i.e. in an rpg game where you HAVE to be this character, cater to THEIR personality, with some player tweaks in between. What's also amazing is there are so many different players who play and enjoy the game. There's the occult players, the real life gameplay players, the builders, the CAS creation players, the ambitious players who run through ambitions and careers. This "We didn't ask for this" bullshit is stupid. correction YOU didn't want this, but myself or someone else may have been wanting something. Take Eco Lifestyle for example, so many people were so ANGRY about this pack. Me? I was thrilled. It provided brand new content that Sims franchise never had. I still play the pack time to time because I love seeing a greener world than ahem light pollution overcasting out my real life window. (The sky is faint orange if your wondering due to the airport.) The community can be so toxic that when if I do find a friendly sim player, it's genuine. Instead of focusing what 4 doesn't have compared to 2 or 3, enjoy it as it was the first ever. Community needs to be better...
I know it's awkward to think that your audiencia on a video platform sometimes don't watch yourvideos, but gosh, hearing you talk while you play is so cozy, reminds me to when I read a book next to my brother while he was playing videogames and we would talk about silly things and I would put the book down when he was reaching a cool part
I usually don't comment, but hearing you say you read so many mean comments made me sad because you're my favorite sims ytber. I hope you're having a great day! And this time I DID watch the whole build :3 As for the debate I think a lot of people are just hurt by the sims, a trust is broken specially with all the promises and expectations they had or been given. HOWEVER, because your hurt doesn't mean u get to insult or harras anyone. Wish people could point out flaws without threatening someone life.
Thank you for the video! I really love watching your builds and totally dig your honest and raw narrations. Thank you for the time, energy, and effort you put into this content. I appreciate you.
the fact that i payed TWENTY DOLLARS for a game that just isn’t fun without buying other stuff or having to buy stuff that should come with it AND DID COME WITH PAST GAMES is insane and really shows how consumerism and companies and all that shit has gotten out of hand
It isn't entitled to ask for a game we've spent hundreds if not a thousand dollars for to work. The entitlement I see comes form people making demands on the modders. That is not cool at all.
I like that you branch off to this essay-like commentary sometimes, it's refreshing to hear someone I like watichng has such a similar perspective to mine 💝
Also sims 2 had 17 dlcs. Im just pointing rhat our because the 8 expensio packa were big packa, the rest was just accessories but still with some gameplay included 😅
The answer is yes… lol And I play the sim but some of these other players are literally nuts and thinks these modders owe them something. No, I think EA does though
I think Simmers can be entitled in certain aspects. Case in point: some people doxxed the creator of WickedWhims while he was on vacation because his mod wasn’t updated in time.
I think there are two groups. People that want to have fun with the game and for it to not get destroyed by EA and they business practices (because having over 10 times more DLCs for 4th instalment of the series than for first is insane) and professional whiners. The second group just likes to make mess and yap, and they're the loudest, but they're also the most harmful, even if it doesn't concern them that much. And this group is definitely the one that is entitled. The first one? I don't think so, because there's a motivation that could benefit the game. Maybe not EA higher-ups pockets, but overall game. But being an asshole to devs is definitely entitlement. Like, what are they supposed to do? They get the task, do it and that's their job, they're not the ones responsible for what EA is doing. Do they think those devs will go and say 'we need to change it because xyz on twitter said so'? Who would care? Unless higher-ups see it on quarterly profit charts they won't give a shit and it will only be a risk for the devs that already get so much shit.
Things that were upgraded in sims 4 compared to previous games: Build mode much easier, less laggy, with more patterns and swatches. The ability to travel to any world, even to someone else’s house whether they’re home or not. Sim creation and customization in much greater detail and much easier and intuitive. Plumbing and electronics have more options and customizability. You don’t have to search bookstores or libraries to read skill books, you can buy them from bookshelves, making skills much more accessible. You can find the job you want immediately instead of praying it shows up before your sim dies of old age. You can attend university while living anywhere without building another college. Children aren’t taken away if home alone, and failing one kid doesn’t lose all of them. But the real reason some simmers are entitled: Threatening cc creators. Public shaming if an uploaded build has a flaw. Expecting EA to not do things that break cc. Complaining about packs when they pirated the pack. Personally attacking random EA employees if they don’t like something.
i just want custom colors back from the third game. no wood swatches match, the outfits colors suck. you ever try to find orange or purple outfits on 4?
I think....its pretty 70/30 on whether simmers are entitled or not. There are a lot of things i agree that need to be fixed and updated and changed for the sims 4 that i wouldnt call entitlement for wanting or even expecting. Expecting basic life things to be base game or free DLC after previous versions already had these things or expecting certain things to be grouped into one expansion like previous versions did, not entitlement. But then there are the instances like with a certain anniversary hot tub where the devs received massive backlash because "thats all you're giving us??" To me thats entitlement and then the fact that they really havent released anything on an anniversary since and people have the audacity to continue complaining they're not getting things free after the way they treated literal human beings over free content, yeah entitlement. There are definitely times when the community shows their entitlement, not just against game devs but mod creators, looking at this last patch with turbodriver and his treatment. But then for the most part the views do not come from entitlement but rather frustration with feeling like a living piggy bank for EA
I miss worrying about zombies destroying my garden. I was so sad for the sims 4 plants sims too. It really feels like I’m paying so much for half the stuff I had before. And I think the people who are voicing their opinions in a nice manner are doing nothing wrong. I love all of your ranting videos. Look forward to them every week. Hope your migraine finally went away. I suffer from them a lot as well.
I love your vids sm, even when im in those long stretches when I'm not playing the game. always fun humor and cool builds Anyways, if EA does come out with a new Sims game and it has the same predatory dlcs as this one does (which is likely to happen) I won't pay for it. I hope inzoi or whatever life sim comes next gives them proper competition so they'll improve
Completely unrelated to the tea being spilled, this kind of house that you're building in the speedbuild is familiar to me in a very melancholy way. Many family members who I no longer speak to live in this kind of home.
Lovestruck and growing together both are interaction updates behind a pay wall. We are getting a life and death EP which hopefully wont come with things that should be base game in the 4th instalment of the game. On a different note the build is really nice. The path to it is kinda stranfe since its on sticks insead of land but thats just a nitpick
Alsp the funny thing is they didnt think on is vampires, werewolves, spellcasters, and maybe fairys is worth 49 bucks because of the skill tree of each ocult and a big world with each neighborhood being a different ocult with two hidden worlds that's getting your moneys worth and they would still make back about the same quality over quantity was the best for them it sucks because looking at sims 3 the DLC were all so good and worth it so like what she said if you aren't going back to open world at least make two feature base pets/seasons make a farm/ranch-life pack two neighborhoods farming and ranching and you can still make horses separate from pets and the cottage animals wedding stories and Lovestruck can be there own pack together like if they thought this through less packs for the same prices and it could actually work out.
We have that already, it's called IRL 2.1, the game we all play, the most immersive game ever made, literally unable to tell if it's real or not, oh yeah and this year's new update features Aliens and Ancient Discoveries.
Oof girl, day 3 of a migraine 💀 I feel your pain ❤ I hope you’re feeling better/less shit (let’s be honest it’s always less shit instead of better lol).
I fully agree with you. And while its a little bit overwhelming for all the packs. It can make sense like the gothic pack. If you like goth fashion ok buy it. But if you dont. You can skip it. Its so small and easy to purchase. Its not as daunting to want to buy. Also its cas and not gameplay. So the price fits. I feel more ansty with packs. Im want more gamplay with a little more than... watch your electronic dolls do things. But Ultimately its what the game is so I dont complain too much with that. And most of all. I dont want it to be a buggy mess at launch. I understand it can be hard to code and optimize a game. But imo. I would rather wait and get the game to work than have so many issues at release. I kinda stopped playing because of the updates and releases and just it not working or slowing me down playing
6:30 I think this isn’t a valid comparison, and it should be substituted with the following to be more specific The sims 1 has 7 expansion packs The sims 2 has 8 expansion packs and 9 stuff packs The sims 3 has 11 expansion packs and 9 stuff packs, alongside 2376 (according to a Reddit post) unique pieces of furniture on the store (also according to that post, this makes up a little over 50% of all sims 3 items) (although it does need to be mentioned that you could 100% ignore the entire sims 3 store and be fine) The sims 4 has 16 expansion packs, 12 game packs, 20 stuff packs, and 31 kits. (As of this comment being made) Saying only the count of the expansions and then including the other dlc makes the sims 4 out to be a much more dlc heavy game that the others. It is, but it exaggerates that point to a comical level. Also considering that the sims 4 has been out for double the length of the other games it’s dlc is still more than average proportionally but it isn’t as exaggerated
the new, game-changing features that ts4 launched with (akin to the open world of s3, aging + 3d graphics in s2, etc) were the vastly improved cas and build/buy modes and the emotions system. and if the game had shipped with those features AND been a complete game otherwise (with all life stages, pools, ghosts, a decent looking map, you get the idea) then maybe that would have been enough. but as someone who has played all the main sims games including sims 2-4 on release, ts4 as it shipped was an embarrassment to the franchise. it needed another year's worth of work, minimum. and we would have waited for it! ts2 and 3 were AMAZING games and i would've been happy to keep playing them for another year or two before a new version came out. i'm not saying simmers never complained about the game before ts4 came out, but the "entitlement" really ratcheted up when ts4 released because it just plain wasn't good and to this day has serious bugs/issues and very little of the dlc is worth the money imo. EA threw away so much of what made the sims great with ts4 because they took a massive cash cow and decided to milk it to death. as a lifelong simmer, it's just sad tbh.
sorry i'm not done. will wright got the idea for the sims after having to replace everything in his life when his house burned down in the 90s. EA took this fun, quirky, heartfelt game based on that awful experience and turned it into a capitalistic behemoth because they saw no competition and exploited their playerbase simply because they could. i LOVE the sims so much and it makes me so angry to watch EA dig a grave for the franchise and not even care that their greed is killing it. i hate it! anyway sorry for being so dramatic lmao
I remember being so excited when the sims 4 trailer first dropped, and they hyped how innovative their behaviors would be. And then we got a half baked game that makes our sims in a perpetual state of mindless happiness.
Honestly the point you made about the downgrade from sims 3 to sims 4 blew my mind! I never even considered that. I know that they made the sims 4 to run better (lord knows the sims 3 was hard to run) but it was such a disappointment to suddenly lose the open world, the storytelling, and everything unique about the sims 3. Of course we were disappointed! If we were going to downgrade that much, it should have been balanced out with something worthwhile that makes it more worth buying!
Most gaming communities are entitled yes but the sims players genuinely deserve to be angry about the sims most of the time lol. We have spent so much money on this game only for every new pack to be completely broken and unplayable. I think the sims backlash is warranted and they need to take some advice and fix their game
People can complain about the cost of packs as much as they want but the devs also deserve to be paid. It's not like it's hard to pirate if you don't have the money. Also, I've been playing Sims since it started (well, I started with Makin Magic) and ever since Sims 2 the entire franchise has been my "gay vampire simulator" and I'm very happy with Sims 2, 3, and 4 for this reason. I strongly dislike the sudden influx of Sims 4 fans who demand absolute realism from the game when that's never been what the game has been. Life simulator, yes. Realistic life sim? Never. People just made that up in their heads and get mad when the Sims team doesn't deliver on their delusions.
Both. It's both. Though I think there's a misunderstanding to the use of it. Simmers are entitled to complain and whinge about a product they're unhappy with HOWEVER not every single simmer has the problems that the loud sounding minority have and are also entitled to tell them to go away and play/do something else constructive with their time. I have seen the same with the Team Fortress 2 community too actual it's almost a direct mirror, but I degress. I'm in the camp where I I'm lucky the game works, gives me the game play I'm mostly happy with and I have yet to have a sense of FOMO over stuff I didn't purchase because to me they didn't sound fun of gameplay inhancing the way a majority of the community seems to think some of it is. That might be due to my age (we're not far from 40) and frankly life's too short to constantly complain about shit that's extremely pointless and dumb when there's other stuff you could do. That said unfortunately misery loves company and humans more and more these days only seem to enjoy themselves when they can unite in complaints and hatred for something. Life's too short to scream into the ether.😅 there are THOUSANDS of games out there, you'll find something to scratch the itch you have. If not? There's other things more important than sooking over it. I draw the line at people abusing people enjoying the game or abusing modders ect. You get nothing out of it other than pushing people away from the community. Thank you FGG. You more or less expressed what my constant expressions and thoughts about how wide the fan base is and how hard it is to cater for when everyone wants extremely different things. That's the long & short of it.
tbh,I don't feel the entitlement but I want to make Maxis and EA accountable for broken releases, false advertisements, and their shady monetary schemes. So far, I have $200+ worth of in-game DLCs and I don't buy packs in full price, not to mention me being incredibly picky on what packs Im going to buy thanks to the game moders, the saving grace of TS4, is the reason why the game still playable at least to me. btw, I love that country style house you build ❤
I mean, I couldn't agree more. To me, it's not entitled to criticize the game for making everyone pay for things that should be in the base game or for performative inclusion, and I say this as a fan of the Sims, even the Sims 4. Despite this, I think it is entitled to doxx mod creators and be mean to people who wish to defend the game and the company simply because they like it. One, doxxing is never okay, two, criticizing fans for defending EA is pointless unless people have something other to say than 'They don't care about you, they're multi-billionaires, bleh-bleh-bleh!', but actually have something helpful to say that explains their viewpoint without invalidating the viewpoints of Sims 4 fans, despite this, if the people defending EA were rude first or called the other person a slur or did worse, then they have a right to stand up for themselves and in some cases, be rude back, depending on the context (no doxxing or crossing the line in other ways though, them being rude first never justifies doxxing), and lastly, it's their money, what Sims 4 fans do with their money doesn't concern anyone else. On the topic of doxxing mod creators, that one random person who doxxed the Wicked Whims creator is a jerk. Turbodriver has a life outside modding and they deserve to take vacations. They could have just stopped making Wicked Whims altogether in retaliation, and the doxxer's entitlement could have cost a large portion of the community who plays Wicked Whims one of their favorite mods, and even a portion of the community who plays Wonderful Whims or uses Unlimited Jobs instead.
The realest part of this whole video is the mention of the ridiculous price of Olive Oil lol
Right? I was like "Where are you paying $6 for a small bottle of olive oil? Give me the location of that sale!"

@@Rabbitbanana09 as a console player I hope to join yall of the pcs soon

I know I don't watch the build but as soon as I saw you make the pond and the bridge I knew this was gonna be one of my favorite builds you've ever done. Jesus that was a stunning little house
I loved the "sothwest ranch meets forest cottage" vibes it gave off!
😅 But I agree with your breakdown of what should be a DLC vs base game 100% - and I also play historical saves, and homeschooling would be amazing!
unfortunately nuance is something a lot of us struggle with. having criticisms of something you love and enjoy is normal!! and doesn’t mean you don’t still enjoy the thing. it’s “both and”
love this build btw!

@@mmgg4940 Yeah, that's true !
My problem is less with people having issues with the game being broken or wanting things in the game, but more with how people go about expressing their issues or wants. There's a lack of basic respect shown towards the devs and other people. Paying £1000+ for a game does not give you the right to treat people the way some simmers do.
0:24 Oh ddaammnn. So that's how you do a bridge. I definitely have to do more water builds.

Extend sims team to modders also
@@mmgg4940 I've personally have never had a problem with the game or the expansion packs.

If someone freaking doxs a modder, that's already a massive entitled. So yeah. They are entitled to a certain degree.
Finally somebody pointed out the insane difference between the numbers of DLCs and how scummy that is
I remember all of that when sims 4 released and didn’t have pools, toddlers etc…. Pepperidge farms remembers too.

you save 5 seconds of my life bcs i was too lazy to search the meaning
@@Yangy_Young hate to tell you sweaty but when I picture a total stereotypical "Simmer" I picture many qualities you mentioned immediately:

It kind of depends. People doxxing a modder for not updating a (free to them) mod quickly enough because they’re on vacation? That might be the E word. *cough*
Someone who just has criticism of the game? That’s an unhappy consumer. Someone who hates the game enough that their entire online presence is hating the game? That might not be the E word but I don’t think it’s healthy, either, and I personally don’t want to read/watch that… but if other people do, have fun!
I would call you a mildly unhappy consumer, fwiw… not that you should care what I think!
(I like the build. Makes me want to vacation at a lake house.)
12:04 Nah you are right. It's rambling but you are hitting all the points.
I feel like that qould be a good start🤷
also the game should be FU***NG WORKING!!!
I do think they should stop splitting content up though.
this video is your second best video in my opinion (the first is that "breed out the ugly" one with the green lady)

Dis is so real yo! [ also amazing build, love dah idea of an old cozy rustic home on a small lake? pond? very radical yo!!💜✨]
Now direct attacks on individual creators when the true fault lies on those superior to them, that is absolutely *not* fair, and is a massive overreach from the consumer.
youve been probably my favorite youtouber these past couple months :) I love your content
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I know it's awkward to think that your audiencia on a video platform sometimes don't watch yourvideos, but gosh, hearing you talk while you play is so cozy, reminds me to when I read a book next to my brother while he was playing videogames and we would talk about silly things and I would put the book down when he was reaching a cool part

the fact that i payed TWENTY DOLLARS for a game that just isn’t fun without buying other stuff or having to buy stuff that should come with it AND DID COME WITH PAST GAMES is insane and really shows how consumerism and companies and all that shit has gotten out of hand
It isn't entitled to ask for a game we've spent hundreds if not a thousand dollars for to work. The entitlement I see comes form people making demands on the modders. That is not cool at all.

The answer is yes… lol
And I play the sim but some of these other players are literally nuts and thinks these modders owe them something.

But the real reason some simmers are entitled:
Threatening cc creators.
Wait but Sims 2 didn’t had weather, seasons or pets in the base game 😅
Im feeling inspired. I missed hearing your thoughts! I got a few videos to catch up on ❤
One thing I want in The Sims 4 that I will never get is Naturism.
I think its honestly just that GAMERS are entitled LOL, and I guess by extension, there's just a lot of entitled people out there
Not related to the question, but this build looks so good !
This cabin would be the best IRL Hipcamp rental ever. It's middle name is Cozy.
I love your vids sm, even when im in those long stretches when I'm not playing the game. always fun humor and cool builds
Anyways, if EA does come out with a new Sims game and it has the same predatory dlcs as this one does (which is likely to happen) I won't pay for it.
Oh my god I love the build style its so pretty ToT
The only part that FREE is the base game everything else you gotta pay for
I paid god knows how much for packs that are broken and makes the game worse yeah we should be entitled for all the money we have spent
YES LOL, wanting diversity to make yourself is one thing, wanting the ENTIRE EARTH uploaded into a videogame is ANOTHER 💀😹
We have that already, it's called IRL 2.1, the game we all play, the most immersive game ever made, literally unable to tell if it's real or not, oh yeah and this year's new update features Aliens and Ancient Discoveries.
Microsoft Flight Simulator has entered the chat.
I completely agree! And the building is very lovely!
What a cute and cozy lil house love it
6:30 I think this isn’t a valid comparison, and it should be substituted with the following to be more specific
The sims 1 has 7 expansion packs
The sims 2 has 8 expansion packs and 9 stuff packs
The sims 3 has 11 expansion packs and 9 stuff packs, alongside 2376 (according to a Reddit post) unique pieces of furniture on the store (also according to that post, this makes up a little over 50% of all sims 3 items) (although it does need to be mentioned that you could 100% ignore the entire sims 3 store and be fine)
The sims 4 has 16 expansion packs, 12 game packs, 20 stuff packs, and 31 kits. (As of this comment being made)
Saying only the count of the expansions and then including the other dlc makes the sims 4 out to be a much more dlc heavy game that the others. It is, but it exaggerates that point to a comical level. Also considering that the sims 4 has been out for double the length of the other games it’s dlc is still more than average proportionally but it isn’t as exaggerated
Oh… this just uploaded?? Cool!
the new, game-changing features that ts4 launched with (akin to the open world of s3, aging + 3d graphics in s2, etc) were the vastly improved cas and build/buy modes and the emotions system. and if the game had shipped with those features AND been a complete game otherwise (with all life stages, pools, ghosts, a decent looking map, you get the idea) then maybe that would have been enough. but as someone who has played all the main sims games including sims 2-4 on release, ts4 as it shipped was an embarrassment to the franchise. it needed another year's worth of work, minimum. and we would have waited for it! ts2 and 3 were AMAZING games and i would've been happy to keep playing them for another year or two before a new version came out. i'm not saying simmers never complained about the game before ts4 came out, but the "entitlement" really ratcheted up when ts4 released because it just plain wasn't good and to this day has serious bugs/issues and very little of the dlc is worth the money imo.
Some are entitled depends on what you says or do but majority are entitled to ask more out company they giving their hard earn money too
I remember being so excited when the sims 4 trailer first dropped, and they hyped how innovative their behaviors would be. And then we got a half baked game that makes our sims in a perpetual state of mindless happiness.
Is it weird that I kinda miss when FGG would just rant about her life
"only god knows when my suffering will end"
ive been listening to too much EPIC lately....i had to do a double take at the channel name 😭
Such a cozy build, I want to live there! 😅
Last year I buying 1L home brand extra virgin olive oil for $10. It's now $18
Most gaming communities are entitled yes but the sims players genuinely deserve to be angry about the sims most of the time lol. We have spent so much money on this game only for every new pack to be completely broken and unplayable. I think the sims backlash is warranted and they need to take some advice and fix their game
"Every new pack broken and unplayable"?
Get some perspective and stop massively exaggerating.
I love your take on this!
I enjoy your videos more than any other simmers and I would never be mean to you cuz you rock!!!!
Both.
So far, I have $200+ worth of in-game DLCs and I don't buy packs in full price, not to mention me being incredibly picky on what packs Im going to buy
thanks to the game moders, the saving grace of TS4, is the reason why the game still playable at least to me.
btw, I love that country style house you build ❤
I would pay $6 for olive oil but mainly because where I live it’s $8
