3 Hours of suffering and you saved me 😭😭😭😭
This is the most understandable Blender tutorial I've ever seen
Simple, fast and clear explanation, as all blender tutorials should be, as people looking for these are likely in the middle of their projects and don't have the patience to watch a 20 minute video on something simple, worked perfectly, thank you, keep it up!
Usually I don't comment on tutorial videos, but this one is exceptional. It really did help me out and was extremely beginner friendly. I appreciate it greatly.
WOW! UFB, I've been trying to cut helmets / masks in 1/2 to 3D print, and you just made it %1000 easier to fit on the printers! Thank you.
exactly what i needed and somehow noone else bothered to explain! thank you! for anyone that has trouble at the 'V' part, make sure the bisect options dont include 'Fill' or it wont work
I have spent so long messing around with creating 2 objects and a cube and using opposite boolean on each! Thank you!
this is the video i needed to see after searching "how to cut model in blender" for like two days. youre a life saver
I spent like 20 minutes last night trying to figure out how to modify a model and cut it in half. I gave up. This video makes it look easy haha
Thank you, really quick and easy to follow tutorial!
This is excatly what I needed to learn. Thank you very much!
Very helpful tutorial. Ty
For anyone trying this with a complex model, If you are having the problem of not being able to find a bisect plane that only selects the part you want, try the knife tool instead. (make sure to turn Occlude geometry off and X-ray on) If you use the knife tool without any geometry selected, after you cut you will only have the edge loop of the cut selected which will save you some time if the 'select edge loop' function decides not to work. from this point you can follow the tutorial after 3:02 as normal.
Thanks, very useful for 3d printing applications.
Simply clear and excellent
Beautiful tutorial. Thanks a lot!
Thank you! Another, perhaps simpler but a bit slower but perhaps faster way to get both pieces is to simply duplicate and do the process twice. Can use the auto fill option then too.
Oh! Thank you so much! Big noob here. 🤩❤️ mind blown.
Thanks, perfect tutorial!
OK for real, THIS IS THE tutorial. No unless information, no weird intro - straight to the point but still explained it perfectly and a comfy voice heheh.
You actual legend you saved so much of my time!!!!
😭 *hugs in agreeance*
This is the only proper bisect blender tutorial. Every other ones, I don't even think they know what they're talking about.
Thanks for the tutorial!!!
Nice one dude. I was struggling with that tool but tbh, I´m struggling to get my head around Blender in general 🤣
Nicely explained. I'm wondering how to set the cutting plane point and normal, to make exact cuts ? The Bisect tool doesn't seem to snap, nor to have a way of grabbing normal info (or conversion from angles) from another object. I did it but by manually typing the origin point and using trig to find the normal - not a smooth operation at all.
It cut it in half but when I have it in my slicer the parts move as one like it's still a whole piece with a big gap in the middle. I'm trying to get both flat parts on bed but top part is stuck in the air
just what i needed thank you
my god, the only one who doesnt take up to 20 minutes to explain something
Thanks so much!! This was super useful!!
Just Subbed , This Helped me ALOT!
Is there a way to more precisely bisect it? Lets say I want to remove a specific part of a model, however, the bisect line also end up going through a part of the model that I want to remain on the other piece
real~~~~ly so good. u save my time
I got a problem : i am making a titanic sinking animation so, i'm trying to cut the 1st funnel, but there is the 3 other funnels behind that got cut with, how can i only cut one ?
Thank's ! nice tuto ^^
Many thanks 👍.
Can I ask what tool did you use for making this video? Hvor is the Mouse and keyboards hit shown..?
I was trying it on subdivided cube, and when Selecting Linked (Ctrl + L), it selects everything. I guess because it selects everything that connects, and it is still touching both parts if you don't choose to remove one of them. I didn't find a way to select only half after that. Select Side of Active sometimes work for me in cases I have selected edge loop, but not now.
The shortcut aren't explained. Which commands to they invoke? Not everyone has this shortcut layout. "V" brings out the viewport settings for me. And CTRL+L does nothing. I can't get this to work.
Are you in edit mode?
had the same problem. make sure you are in vertex selection mode and not edge or face. I know this comment is old, but it may help future googlers.
existe some addon to make slice, fill and separate into two objects one click?
whats the v shortcut for? i dont like shortcuts
you're a legend
How the heck do you spin the object smoothly with mouse???? I can't figure it out
讲解的非常清楚,感谢分享。
thank you so much you very helpful ❤
Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
I keep getting "cannot rip selected faces" error. What might be causing this?
THANK YOU, now I can confidently cut my strawberries in half
Thank you!!
When I cut my model in half the other half can only be seen on one side still
You’re a godsend
thank you so much
When I export this to unreal, I can't move the pieces independently, it's just one piece, how can I move the pieces independently in Unreal?
how do you join them back ?
Offf the reason i wana cut head foot and hand is that i want to retopo them to different values and then connect them back together can't find a tutorial on it 😐😭
thank you!
Hmmm I needed more for a hammer to make a split in back of hammer which have two long spikes that you are using to take out the nail, so I can make a hole beetwen splited two spikes.
Nice video, only one observation: at minute 3:49 you don't need the shift key to loop select
Great!
You are amazing
Thanks!
i saved my project and now i want to cut a component in it.. plase help
life saver!!!!!
Doesn't work. V does nothing and neither does CTRL + L
Ugh.. i need to keep both parts, it goes well till the V step then CTRL + L like explained it just selects a few faces next to it, while i tested the Bisect Clear Inner and outer in beginning of this video that goes well, i have no clue what i am doing wrong :/
Don't select anything in the Bisect selection box. Press V to rip the vertices. CTRL + L will bring up a selection box, choose seam. You can then do what you will with the selection.
Would this be the best method for setting up a humanoid model with severable parts?
if you make it, show it to me
Hello, i have a question.
Supposedly i want to use these method on two models and want to headhack, i remove the 1st model's head and apply it onto the 2nd models body then what should be the rig situation?
You re rig it entirely once you jointed both meshes
love this video I keep coming back cuz I have peanut brain but yea amazing tutorial
At 1:37 the narrator says "i'm just going to pull out here so you can see this line..." How did he get that line?
That's not half bro!
Thanks for the tut brother. Appreciate.
GOD OF SLICE
Thanks.
The tool isnt there when i click edit mode..
SAME
@@kayodevaughn6718 Go over knife tool, click on the little arrow in the down right corner. You can select it
Lol even the monkey is cake
Add monkey head, then apply modifier. WHAT MODIFIER?
Love you
it fails because when I press control l it selects the whole mesh instead of the half.
Just press L without ctrl.
3:15 doesnt work for me nor 3:49 :/ once i press V i loose options and all i get is error "no faces.." and with selecting the edge par it will sellect everything just not the outer edges
Omg ive been struggling with this for the past half hour even after typing it in notes going over and over it, so annoying
same the v then right click works but ctrl L does nothing
I try it but it fails at 'V.' It tells me there are no faces to select. You have it in vertice mode as do I... If I press Cntrl L, it selects the entire model.
Hm... I made it 10x bigger and it seemed to work. Now I have to shrink it back, see if I can export it as an STL, and have it show up as a solid.
I am gonna keep this simple.......Hit A, Frontview, go to view port, left click, pull that around, bisect tool option, inner outter fill, left mouseX3
left mouse, wheel up, middle mouse, wheel downX2 Middle mouse Wheel up, middle mouseX3 Left mouse, V, right click, hit cntrl+L, wheel down X2, G, wheel up, hold and shift
select I,cntrl L, hit P, separate biselect, hit the tab key manually in object,, left mouse wheel downX2, Left mouse Wheel downX2, Gleft mouse, G Wheel upX3, wheel up , mouse,
Tab, middle mouse, shift, shift+Alt+Left mouse, wheel upX2, F,Wheel down, middle mouse, tab, left mouse, tab, shift, shift+Alt+Left mouse,F,Wheel downX3, tab...TADAAAAA now you have 2 pieces. I mean, how I didn't just guess that on my own, is completely beyond me. Safe to say if this is simple, I am curious what your idea of complicated is!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That seems pretty complicated to me but love your confidence
When I press V I get the error "Cannot rip faces". What does pressing V supposed to do?
Make sure you DON'T have anything selected in the Bisect dropdown box.
Pressing V will rip the vertices, making two meshes from one. As always, before editing, be sure to apply transformations in object mode.
Bisect tool is different in 2.93.1. It's acting weird and I haven't figured out how it works yet. It seems incomplete or broken atm. So far it's wasting more time than it helps to save... I'll skip this tool for now.
I figured it out... here's what made it consufing: 1. you have to have the elements-to-cut selected. (Which is a usful change.) 2. you can't rotate the cutting plane in the orthographic view, even though the gizmo's showing, you can only rotate in perspective view.
I’m trying to make an among us kill animation, can anyone help?
"Rip failed" when I hit V after the cut :(
poor suzanne, but amazing video though
What if I don't want to fill it but make it hollow to print in 3D?
I don't think it being "filled" will mean you're gonna have a filled print, the slicer software which is not blender will handle how object will be filled
I have watched at least 4 tutorials, why is it that NONE of them offer how to cut an object with a plane? Wouldn't you think most people would like to cut something precisely with a flat plane that free hand draw? I am really baffled by why that has not crossed the teachers mind to mentions that, or is that not possible to do in blender?
This is exactly what this tutorial is about.
As you can see in the bisect tool, you can even precisely set up the "Plane Point" and "Plane Normal" coordinates.
So yeah, it's possible in Blender 😉
Good
A timeline :
2:39 dense
don't cut suzanne again bro
2:03 where in the Sam heck is the bisect box!?!?
click on the knife box and drag towards your mesh and submenu should pop up.
The worst thing about such tutorials is that they are always made with very basic shapes, I followed exactly what you did for more complex geometry and fill option does not work at all............
ok im so confused it was working and I was like yay and then it randomly stoped and I was like whaa (edit I found the problem >:D)
dude... u killed her...
What?
@@alishaasim516 he cut suzanne's head in half no way she survived that
poor monkey
i didnt understand, spoke too fast
It's too fast, you need to speak slower, It´s imposible follow the instructions.
Believe me, if I go slower people complain it's to slow, if I go faster people complain it's to fast. I know that I do my tutorials with a reasonable speed because the great majority of people can follow just fine. I would recommend learning the fundamentals of Blender first. Andrew price has some great beginners tutorials on his channel. Once you know the basics and the UI it will be easier to follow along.
@@PIXXO3D I agree. The speed was perfect for me.
use space to pause, 'j' to skip back 10s, 'l' to skip forward 10s. You can also adjust playback speed. Hope this helps.
click the gear(settings) and set it to a slower speed.
The amazing thing about UA-cam is that it is what is called a video. These, unlike people in the real world can be paused, reversed, repeated, and even slowed down to suit your every desire. Check it out, click the little cog/gear icon and low and behold... you can set the playback speed to sloth.
This isn't exactly user friendly and u keep making short cuts. They need a video that actually shows what we actually need to do instead of all these keyboard cheats. It makes it hard to learn
Kinda agree, but you can look up what it does, and this way you know the shortcut which is much more useful
