Akala is our generation's street scholar. He bridges the gap for those bourgeois activists to understand whats really going on at a grassroots level, whilst helping the grassroots level better understand historical constructs and sharper moves.
couldn't put it better. well read and articulate (and i don't mean that in the "he's so well spoken" sense, but in the ability to, without impediment, demonstrate raw intelligence through speech), he is the epitome of a leader, and highly convincing to the bourgeoisie that you mention. he reminds me of a malcolm x character, but less confrontational in his delivery and discussion
As a white guy in the North of England that left school without gcses or the ability to barely read and write. Thanks for the shout out pal👍 I feel lost sometimes in these times, I don't feel far right or left, And I thank you for your time. I watched a video of a Bob marley interview and he said it isn't about race or colour it's about progress. Well that was my take anyways!
This young man is currently one of the brightest minds to speak on racism. His understanding of the relevant issues is outstanding and we can all learn from him. I agree that this is the right time to 'cash in' on the opportunity to stamp out the scourge of racism once and for all if the strategy is correct. Any violence coming from the black community will be picked up by the right wing media and blown out of all proportion giving the racist white community ammunition to continue their propaganda of hate, division and prejudice. We must not play in to their hands. Another vote for visiting Senegal here, particularly the Casamance region in the south of the country. Those little hamlets by the beach, on the Atlantic coast, are delightful. The people, the culture, the food and the music are the perfect way to recuperate and I have been blessed to spend a couple of months here every winter for the last ten years leading a simple life. Well done Akala. Another outstanding contribution to educate us all. Sending love and solidarity.
'If you dont go to uni your parents will stop talking to you' 🤣🤣 this is very accurate. Telling my parents i was taking a gap year is like i was ruining my life
I love this man - he has provided more education and much-needed perspective in his writings and talks than I ever received in school. My kids will be fed a diet of his work as soon as they are old enough to comprehend it - if society hasn't managed to make the necessary shifts in the next decade. Also he's a ridiculous rapper. Love from Liverpool.

The Bible is black history how comes nobody if fighting for our true identity!!! I would love to see you my g look into it, big up the work your doing!!
Your comment about white working class kids being ashamed of being clever rings so true. I went to a school which was rated the worst in the borough and most of the kids there were from v poor backgrounds. If you were put in top sets, you were basically bullied - it was cool to bunk off/start fights/do nothing. In fact, when my area had an influx of children from Somalia in the late 90s, the GCSE results for that school actually improved despite the kids having only been in the country for x amount of years. Really loved your book by the way, it has inspired me to read more books on geopolitics and economics so thank you!

I've always thought I could choose a cabinet and prime minister and this video proves he would be perfect for one of the top positions if not the top but that's probly my bias. I get that but not voting is why we have what we have now. I don't agree with the system we have but it is all we have I don't agree with everything a party stands for but voting for the best of a bad lot is better than not voting at all otherwise nothing will change. Please use your vote even if who you vote for may not win or be the best for all you stand for it sends the message of what is and isn't acceptable. We had to fight to vote we need to use it.
If you don't vote then the politicians will look at the demographic you represent, and realise that they don't actually have to cater their policies to you. From a politicians point of view whats the need in giving your demographic what they want if that group won't vote to get them into power? They would be much better suited to catering to a group that usually have a higher voter turnout, as that will have more impact on the number of votes they receive. I understand your frustration, the lack of diversity/representation is poor, and greater steps need to be made to make politics accessible for all people, not just those with money. You are entitled to your own opinion, but it is mine that politicians will only care if they see that the group you represent can actually impact on the votes they get.
@Larry 1993 I think you are taking into account people ineligible to vote, i.e people under 18. If you take that into account the voter turnout was 67% www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/12/13/voter-turnout-2019-general-election/
The game is rigged theses leaders are bought and controlled by private interests when they are of university age. Who they represent should be clear to all. Things will never change any time soon. Good people pure uncurrptable ones will always be controlled by the time they become electable. People like akala are far to good to be involved in this current system. I've seen to many patterns and blame culture and lies, and I think they have us controlled. Since 2010 we have been convinced that one government is the responsible parent vs the other government the irresponsible ones. They continue to use this phcology to this day.
Great talk but I still believe that the diaspora needs to big up the Caribbean and Africa. Africa is developing fast and all I have seen while travelling there were mostly Chinese and white business owners. One of the foundation for self respect is strong economic pillars, just look how the perception of the Chinese community has changed over the last decades. Africa is the solution, people are scrambling for a slice except us and we need to take action before it is too late.
Good point about the movement to Africa: money remittances to sub-Saharan Africa from the Diaspora is said to exceed Foreign Aid to the region by a huge factor, and astoundingly, Nigerian Diaspora remittances home is also said to exceed even the lucrative Oil & Gas revenues of the country! If true, that should continue for the time being.

Blacks need to be educated on white British working class history - grinding poverty, disease inequality was rife in Britain before WW2, it was seeing these conditions that the Communist manifesto was first written.
Good to hear from you right now. Glad you address the issues you do. I fear there is a drive to keep black people pessimistic with the "soft bigotry of low expectations" particularly in the states. Just look at Biden's patronising attitude
Akala inspired me to look into black history and opened my eyes to many things. I dont even say the n word anymore or listen to music that says it either.
A lot of what Akala has spoken on about his views, I've been saying but I just don't have the platform. You have to approach without ego and deliver impartial, unfiltered truth. Appreciate this 🙏🏾

Great message brother
Bro I've literally been waiting and looking everywhere for you to come out with a video on wag1 right now!
Good to hear from you right now. Glad you address the issues you do. I fear there is a drive to keep black people pessimistic with the "soft bigotry of low expectations" particularly in the states. Just look at Biden's patronising attitude
Solid video, watched twice and now going to watch the Part 2
Akala inspired me to look into black history and opened my eyes to many things. I dont even say the n word anymore or listen to music that says it either.
A lot of what Akala has spoken on about his views, I've been saying but I just don't have the platform.
You have to approach without ego and deliver impartial, unfiltered truth.
Appreciate this 🙏🏾
