One thing i always wondered. Why not hose. Air hose is reinforced. And you said the one thing I wondered. The pressure is not high enough to matter. Air hose is at least rated to 125 psi. Its the connection that matters. Clamps. 👍
I've repaired the Trannie lines on my 2000 Expedition piecemeal a few times going back 8 or 10 years. The last time, I started from scratch and went from the 90-degree steel bend near the radiator back to good steel line just like you did. Surprisingly, AutoZone listed both lines and could have them the next day. I don't remember the price, but it wasn't real high, but I didn't have the cash at the time and just bought the hose and clamps. I feel much better now because no more leaks and it was a low-cost repair.........
a rig job, but a credible one. i would feel better w/ bailing wire or large rad clamp to sway bar, although it doesnt move it can get hit w/ cable tie braking stuff. agreed on double clamps...saves run for parts, cost and the special tool to remove line from fitting.
Ive got a question so i have one metal steel transmission cooler line that is new just installed it yesterday no leaks but i dont have abunch of money so I've gotten 3/8 fuel line and could i use a one teel line and one rubber hose wont hurt anything? Lmk thanks 😊 This for a 2000 ford ranger

I am curious if it is still holding up today.

You have only rubber hoses on for the last 10 years and it worked alright for you?
