@@KFCOrBust - I'm afraid I'm ignorant of the 'finer' workings of the US 'dustcarts' - (as we call them here in the UK). - Over here, most, if not all the packers work on a high speed hydraulic pump that is not affected by the engine speed. Due to the fact we have lots of streets with terraced, (joined), houses in them, - on 'bin day' in a lot of them the trucks just 'crawl' down the street with their engines at idle speed most of the time, also we clear the bins on both sides of the street at the same time, - AND put them back tidy. It's just our 'funny' way of doing things. - One other thing, usually the driver NEVER gets out of his cab, - his job is to drive and that's ALL he does, (Union Rules). Most carts run with a minimum of 2, or more men 'loading'. In Europe they tend to do it the same way as you do, - but trust the dear old UK to have to be different.
