- These were the biggest piles I had encountered, this video originally went for nearly 2 hours but I held that back, for another video to come. I hope you guys enjoy these massive piles.

I'm always amazed at the new furniture that people simply destroy and throw away. hardly a scratch on it, hardly a spot of dirt. it looks like it was just unpacked from the cardboard box and immediately thrown away.
People are grossly wasteful. Their loss, their money.
Common around blocks of flats with transient tenants. Chuck everything rather than take it to the next place; then buy all new when they get there. And then complain about not having enough money.
Impressive how efficiently they're managing the bulk waste cleanup in Campbelltown! It's great to see local councils taking proactive steps to address community waste management needs.
Who needs Netflix when you can watch this all day lol!

in Denmark most of this stuff would be illegal to throw in with general waste - has to go into the right recycling containers/trucks. Even our "too big to fit in the bin" collection trucks are compartmentalized to sort everything at the source.

Think this is straight to landfill sites, no recycling here
It's the same in my part of Canada, we have 2 blue bags and 2 wheelie bins, black and green. Organics go in the green bin and go to a composting facility. The blue bags are for paper and the other one is metals plastics and glass. Oversized furniture and appliances are collected separately several times a year. They look in the bins before they dump them and if they see it's not been sorted, they won't dump it. Most of what does actually go in the truck is taken to an energy from waste plant where it's burned to produce steam for electricity or heat/ hot water at hospitals and universities. Very little actually ends up being landfilled.

These 2 guys are the best team. Hard working, always pickup anything that spills out of the truck….. absolutely THE BEST to watch!!!

I worked for a city that did that exact same thing picked up bulk, we were lucky we had help from the young and strong street department they had front end loader machines and we just threw the heavy stuff in the bucket while big dump trucks handled all that material, we were just picking up card board and smaller misc..."crap"" that was left loose on the ground...some people just don't care that others have to pick up their messes
I can't believe the size of these piles and the amount of bulk this truck can hold. I can't wait for the next instalment.

I'm from germany.
What happens to this load? Goes it to the landfill? Or get it sorted by Material. Or get it burned?
I ask because there are so many things and iteams that we separate here in germany an collect separate so it get recycled. Metal to Metal, paper to paper, wood to wood, e-waste to e-waste and the Rest get burned and we make Energy From waste.
For us its forbidden to crush e-waste and fridgerators by a rear-loader. We collect everything seperate.

Thanks for sharing and thanks Australia that you still crush fridges and washing machines in a garbage truck. So cool to watch it. The packer blade is cool as well, it hit always the stuff at the right place so we can enjoy the crushing as most as possible. I love it.
Wow, even here in the U.S., we recycle all those appliances. They dont go to the landfill.....in most cases.

This is disgusting to watch all that good usable stuff get crushed up. A lady even called me disgusting for taking things she was throwing away.

this is a rare scene for Japanese. crushing home appliances using garbage trucks is prohibited in Japan. for example, washing machine, refrigerator, and television. because recycling precious metals.
This breaks my heart seeing all this recycled material being thrown in a trash truck and hauled to the landfill. I've been a junk man for many years seeing all this scrap oh wow heartbreaking

I go get all the metal fill my ute and trailer and cash it in sometimes i get 3 loads done and it gets recycled and its less for the garbos.
@Bill Baum - I totally agree with you, Bill. Where I am, the local council encourages you to take bulky waste which is recyclable to the recycling centre or, if it is too big to go in a car, they will bring a specially-built truck to you, for a small fee, and take it away to be recycled. Alternatively, we have a local family-owned scrapyard which will collect household appliances, like cookers and washing machines, from your home, free of charge. If you can take it to their yard, they'll pay you the scrap value on the metals.
The footage in this video shows sheer laziness on the part of the local council, something the local residents will be damning them for in years to come when the heavy metals in the printed circuit boards leach into the soil and contaminate the water table.
The "less fortunate" can't be arsed to pick up even free stuff.
Go ahead, try and give away a couch that's still good. They will expect you to deliver it, despite it being free.

I saw a few beautiful things that I would have a hard time smashing up, like the glass table with the chrome legs which was very nice. I would have to call someone who has a truck to come get it for my use. On a side note, I think you should have a rake handy for raking up the smaller things that are left behind.
I know, and that truck sure rendered that, along with the other glass top table, completely worthless.

Do this for a few weeks and you stop caring about all those things too nice to throw away. Doesn't register anymore. It's all just stuff you have to throw away. That decision has been made for you by the original owner.
As for the little bits, that's neither their job, nor do they have the time for that. At 40 something stops a day, that's for the residents to scoop up and be glad it's even an existing service. There are areas where you'll have to transport all that trash yourself. It's not their trash and neither are they your lackeys to pick up crumbs. Be grateful they alleviate you from the difficult part of your job to get your trash disposed of.

A Austrália é outro mundo... lá não existem os problemas que temos no Brasil, e como não podem mandar tais "lixos" pra cá, vai tudo pra reciclagem. Dá dó? Com certeza absoluta, mas lá é barato, acessível a boa parte da população. Poderíamos ter tal "luxo" no Brasil? Com certeza! Mas a própria população não quer. Só de exigirem "auxílios" do governo, já demonstra um grande problema. O outro principal, endeusar políticos ao invés de jogá-los contra a parede e exigir mudanças, principalmente na área política, pois, enquanto o brasileiro vive com salário minimo e sofre para pagar os altíssimos aluguéis, eles vivem de auxílios e vivem com salário de 35 mil livres para gastar como quiser...

Where I live, they don't hand load this stuff. They have a loader with pan jaws that follows the truck around & scoops this stuff up & the Driver just works the compactor.

I’ve noticed that the packer doesn’t fully open up before it slides down, is that how they’ve set it up or do they know that there are 2 sensors under those round covers on the top that can be adjusted so that it opens up more

Gente, até os papelões aqui no Brasil seriam reutilizados para reciclagem e para fazer arte. Imagine as cadeiras, mesas, sofás, colchões, geladeira e etc. Tudo isso teriam um destino sem precisar necessariamente destruí-los. Aqui no Brasil é muito dificil comprar um móvel, as coisas são bem caras e quando conseguimos comprar só jogamos fora quando acabamos todas as possibilidades de ajeitar e concertar tais produtos. Realmente esse mundo é muito injusto.

كان من الواجب تجميع هذا الأثاث و هذه الاشياء بطريقة مناسبة و صحيحة و وضعها في شاحنة عادية لنقل البضائع.
بدل رميها بهذه الطريقة في شاحنة خاصة بالأزبال و النفايات المنزلية.
ثم فرزها لاحقا و إعادة استخراج المعدن كالحديد و الالمنيوم و البلاستيك و الخشب. و تصنيعها مجددا في معامل اعادة التصنيع.

Does that compactor not have any extra loading height to it? Seems like with bulky waste it would have a higher load height. Also how much does that truck hold? It seems to hold an extremely impressive amount.
It's so sad 😔 we are living in the 21st century and man still throws so many recyclable materials in our Mother earth like it's going to just swallow all the trash and never leave a negative impact on our future world we call our home, Would you like all this trash in YOUR home 🏡 Our world is not a trash can.

In the 80’s I was at a meeting with mayors and others. I had seen a truck outside loading everything. I popped off and said wtf are we doing here
Mayor no joke looked at me and says unless you come up with a better way and we can make the same or more money you let me know.
So sad
But as a side note. We don’t just dump it and put dirt on it.
There’s many layers of protection in dumps. More then most even know.
Part of San Francisco is built on a dumb believe it or not.
Now it’s about EV cars. Very funny. We export the bad. It takes 500000 pounds of mined dirt for 1 Tesla battery.
EV cars are the farthest from environmental friendly.
So use oil. Gas. Etc kill earth. Or dig holes so deep and still mess up earth.
