Turned out really great. Nice watching your young kid enjoy putting a kit together. My 10 year old daughter did her first about a 1/2 year ago. Did a AE B6.3D. Just watched and she did everything. Definitely know the proud dad feeling. Thanks for sharing. Take care
Grate build! I was around 11 when my dad and me build my RC10T it was awesome and I will never forget that. With that truck I won 🏆 the parking lot summer series and won a RC10L started carpet oval and was hooked! RCLove!
It looks amazing and there is nothing wrong with copying a fantastic looking style like that! I am sure Glenn is super happy to have his version copied! I did hear that clicking in it and was concerned so I am glad you guys got that figured out and it was an easy fix! Great build Caleb and I won't lie, I'm a little envious of that beauty, LOL, but I am happy you have it , got to build it and I really hope to see more running footage of it running. Dad needs to get that track built!
Another great video! This is what it's all about! I will never forget building my first kit, The Hornet, with my Dad in the 80s!! It's those memories that brought me back to the hobby 23 years ago!
Way to go Caleb, nice looking set of wheels!! Just getting back into the RC scene myself as earlier this year I introduced my 11 yr old to the hobby by building out a midnight pumpkin. Great experience and perfect way to share the passion that create memories that will last a life time.
This is so Great! I am constantly trying to get Dad's to build kits with their kids.... To me it is something that most people are missing... the art of assembly. Thanks for the video.
Great to see Caleb get involved from start to finish. I think Tamiya should offer kit discounts for schools to buy and get the next generation building! 🤩
G'day Keith and Caleb it's so cool when our kids take after us and enjoy the same Hobbies. Caleb awesome job on the build I think your one looks a little bit better than Glenn's 👍👍
Lovely Build Keith a proud Dad moment, I remember one of Jason’s friends had this kit at one stage and I looked at it in person, and ended up buying a nib icarus and picked up a predator for the owner of L&L models in the UK. Was going to buy the terra Con but it was missing some parts (wheels & tyres), and had a used motor in the blister pack. Great to see it built and out running 😊
@@rcicons4915 yes it’s funny how that exact car came across me to the point where I was going through it. Then nearly 2 years later ends up being built on the other side of the world. I think when I saw it, it was with the previous owner prior to Jason. Nice kit but I ended up buying a complete nib for less than the person was asking for the one you built, so it just didn’t add up on my end, as at the time the Top Force Evo wasn’t even a thing to get genuine orange rims at a decent price. When I built mine I also modified it to run the Top frp plate instead of the plastic piece.
Hey Keith, about the shock oil: for some reason, Tamiya ALWAYS specs #300 (300cst) oil for their CVA’s. I’ve noticed it’s fine for some cars like the TT-01/TT-02 and others but on heavier cars, you do need to go heavier. I run Losi oil exclusively as that’s mostly what my local retailers all stock. About 35-40 is right where those CVA’s like to be but it’s T H I C C ! I think the lowest I’ve seen on average locally was Losi 25. I did manage to find one place that had 10 but they specialize in RC drift and for that, you NEED super light oil. As for the build, hey it’s another young one getting into the hobby and that is ALWAYS awesome! *Keith, totally understand the privacy thing. I’m sure someone he knew would still find a way to bully the kid, even though he’s got mine and everyone else’s support. Tell him to keep at it. The more he builds, the more his creativity will show in his work.
An amazing build from someone so young, I let my kids build theirs and despite being slightly older they struggled in places, It doesn't matter if its a copy or not it has Egress vibes
With this rtr world we live in, it's no wonder you made dad proud. Congrats on the build, and the careful driving, well done. Next you'll be beating your dad round the race track ! 😂
Dude! Nice work Caleb! I’m about to buy my 12 yr old his first rc. Probably something simple like a Hornet. Way to go building it all yourself. Good job buddy! It only gets better from here and you have the ultimate rc dad to help you along the way. ❤
Great job. I would replace the alloy idler gear in the rear box with the plastic one from the plastic gear set hop up as the alloy ones make a right mess of the gearbox as they wear
I bought both the GPM alloy steering and also the jazrider version. Like you mentioned the gpm had issues. But the Jazrider was perfect fit. I also found the reason why it wouldn't move after tightening the screws as the gold flange they screw onto are too short it seems some were the right length and others to short as I compared them as I had two sets. I contacted the seller I bought from and he said he will send replacement flanges.
Fantastic looking car Keith! Caleb did a great job, much prefer the look of his compared to the box art and the egress wheels look awesome! Great to see your son enjoying the hobby and continuing the love for RC cars!
You could try some stiffer springs instead of changing the shock oil. Your son did a great job with the car. My 11 y/o son built a Neo Scorcher which he uses as a runner and he really loves his car too.
Awesome! He will remember this forever too... and carry on the hobby with this kids! Love the reflective decal set, really brings it to life. Awesome job Caleb!
GREAT job Caleb!! 👌😎👍👍 Keith..... #ProudPoppa moment! 😊 He did quite nicely. I've never had good luck with Jazzrider. If he doesn't want to go all the way to a pro setup, Yeah Racing makes darn good Tamiya Suspension components! Nice run! Looked good. .... I'm pretty sure that Glenn was happy with the homage. I just got exciting news (for me)! Tamiya is going to Re-Re the M-05 VW original Golf (Rabbit)!!! 😁😁 Now I just have to figure out what to sell to get one. But it's been on my bucket list for years! Again, great job Caleb!
Yes Carmen, may have spelled that wrong. They announced it a while back. I have one to build already but I absolutely love that car and livery. In my top 5 from Tamiya.
Just imagine Caleb loading up a reminiscence video as a 45 year old man with a huge RC collection in the background and telling stories of his 1st RC car build :) Saying things like: "Back in the old days, we used to build these things with our own hands and used real tools ! Now everyone just races these cars virtually on a screen...." 🙄
Tell Caleb I said he did a great job and the car looks amazing! Also there's no shame in copying Glenn, he's an inspirational dude! I totally copied his GH2 Super G / dt-01 build. I hope he enjoys the car!
I once took 12 or 13 99% new Shelfie Buggies (1/10) on one evening to a tarmac parking lot and drove each 1 minute with the same battery. I have to say that the Egress wheels were by far the worst driving experience as the spikes bend on tarmac. They look epic on the egress rims. But they do not really work great. Maybe give Caleb another set of wheels and keep the Egress-wheels for the shelf ? But as an 11 year old kid, looks might be more important than performance, I guess ;_)
The alloy gears and pinion destroy your nylon gears. Change the gear to a nylon version (TA02) and the pinion to steel. Tamiya have 17 and 19t in steel. I drive a 16t from carson with the standart main gear (TA02). I degrease the pinion and blued with gunblueing. On the front it is better to use Tamiya CVD´s. But not the old´s, thats rubbish. I drive original tamiya black TopForce rims from the Plasma edge.
It was good to see Caleb get this kit. Fantastic when the children want to get involved with the hobby. Fantastic outcome
Thanks again Jason!
Wow, awesome build Caleb! Love the color and Egress wheels. Looks great. Mean machine! 👍
Love that you showed the build on your channel Keith. 🙏👍
Thank you. Figured a lot of people would want to see it.
Caleb you’ve done cracking job with that car buddy 🤩👊🏻

You sure did. If you have seven’s older vids.
Awesome job 👏 I struggled at 16 building my 1st rc (Hornet !!) so full credit to Caleb. And the colour scheme is 👌

Another great video Keith and congratulations on a nice build Caleb. I like that paint and sticker scheme I might use that on one of my builds.

TRF shock pliers. Has a hunderd uses. Believe they run about $12.
