Dude !!!! Thank you a million times over for this video. My antenna cap came off in the car wash. I went back an hour or two later and retrieved it. Screws are all broken so I’m def using this method. The dealership quoted me $650 to replace. Please let me know if this stayed on your car. (New subscriber here.)

I did the same exact thing on my 2015 Optima. One thing I would recommend is the JB ClearWeld with the mixing tube!
It made the application process super clean and easy.

No problem, if you have a Kia though you have bigger problems. Please check out all my videos on the Kia engine settlement. Those cars engines will fail and when they do, if you don’t have the ksds installed you won’t get your new engine. Thanks Mate - you just saved me over $1000 Australian dollars - thats what the dealer quoted me for parts and labour to replace the whole unit.
Just had to wait for the part to be sent over from the USA as noone stocks it locally - Fit like a glove on my Hyundai Sonata 2018.
During the wait for the part to arrive - I put a plastic sheet over the exposed circuits and held it down with gaffer/material tape.
That held up really well for the weeks I was waiting - The gaffer tape solution withstood driving on the freeway in the rain and was still solid when I had to take it off.
So a big thanks from Australia👍

Not sure if the screws broke or just loosened over time. It’s a shame that this is such a common problem on these cars. If my screws are still good then I will be going that route, otherwise I’ll go with black window urethane/the stuff they use to glue windshields on.

This actually helped me repair 2017 Forte, do you have any idea just about how long this will hold for?

I have a 2014 SXL I had to repair and followed your advice and one other here that suggested using the clear JB Weld. I have one suggestion though. I noticed that you daubed the screws with the epoxy. That night it occurred to me, what if I ever have to replace the entire unit? Seems it would make taking off the unit a royal pain. If I were to do it again I wouldn't do that. Maybe tape them to prevent rattling, but not epoxy them.

How long did you go without having the antenna on? Also, while you were waiting on the part did you have your car parked in the driveway the whole time or the garage?

Hey man, great video! I have to do exactly the same for my Kia Sportage 2017, but it seems I can’t find the proper cap anywhere… Could you help with that? And do you have any idea if the ones for your kia optima would fit on the sportage?

My apologies for the late reply, actually no I dont have a link for the forte but If you can find the cap used from ebay or facebook then you can just glue it back on. The bigger issue is your engine. Might want to check out my other videos related to kias and their engine recalls. Should probably call your local kia dealer and see if your car has the ksds to protect you when your engine fails.

No problem, if you have a Kia though you have bigger problems. Please check out all my videos on the Kia engine settlement. Those cars engines will fail and when they do, if you don’t have the ksds installed you won’t get your new engine. Consider grabbing my book www.flashcustomtransfers.com/product/kiahyundaienginehandbook/265 or just watch all my videos here and on @carlsgarage

This happened to my car recently and I just got it. Dealership wanted around $500. Tried your method today but mine kept trying to rise up so I put alot of tape over it to hold it down. I'm going to let it sit overnight and hopefully it will be fine in the morning and stuck down

Use silicone sealant/adhesive instead, it's made to be flexible and water/moisture resistant.

Did this stay on? I have a 2014 optima and a car wash popped it off in 2019, and paid to replace it at the dealer. It’s 2023 and the car wash popped it off again, yet won’t pay to replace it again. Wondering how well it lasted.
