Crazy that no one reused the facilities for SOMETHING. Seems like a great facility for a medium sized business. Obviously too late now and it's just gonna get demolished and wasted
Literally it's SUCH a waste
The building is massive I went round at the start of the year 😅
@@TommoOnUA-cam the person who bought the building wants to turn it into a hotel but did not get planning permission so left it abandoned in order to let it rot and get permission later when the locals are fed up.

Could be used for a ELMS prototype or GT3 outfit for sure.

Imagine if veloce brought this and it became the new veloce hq.
Damn, that'd be friggin cool.
That be sick as heck!
They would be cursed though
Its so sad that people destroy these awesome places for nothing
I mean you can host a event where bunch of people gather to watch f1 or a place for f1 fans
You could but it's in the middle of nowhere. The *place* to watch F1 will always be the nearby track, which is where the teams want to be anyway.
I think it was crazy when you'd be walking around in a certain room and then you would show a video of the room actually being used, just to put it in perspective, and it was really eerie for whatever reason.
i wonder where u got the videos from
@@lachlancummings7242from the official caterham channel, in case you're wondering, they're still up with other videos
That Tony Hawk special trick sound effect at 1:55 has me in stitches 🤣
Pers!
The Nostalgia that brought back
Caterham did the green livery to perfection 🤩Streets won’t forget
So is this where Rich Energy are setting up for next year?
They’ll make one identical to red bull and say an Austrian build it
They have an office in Stratford upon Avon, i got a free case of Energy drinks from them, they were shipping some plts over to Holland, good group of guys told me not to believe what you read about them, and that they will be back in F1 at some point
@@dan18911 I did not get that, like their employees told not to believe what their twitter is saying about their F1 return, or they told not to believe what the world is saying about their return?
@@alwayshasbeen they didn't elaborate too much, will be interesting to see who they try to partner with next
@@dan18911 Hope it is not a disaster again 🤞
This makes me so sad. F1 could really use more teams and although Caterham didn't really add something in the way of driver development as they used mostly old drivers its still a shame. In that way losing Manor is a bigger shame. Hopefully the Budget Cap incentivizes new teams to the grid
This video came up in recommended so I thought I'd watch it as I've been round the Caterham factory & my dad used to work for them... and then the clip at 4:05 comes around, and that's my dad! Would recognise that bald spot anywhere. lol. good vid guys
Haha amazing!
I went there at the start of the year and as we we're leaving I spotted a old F1 brake pad just laying there in the grass took it home as a bit of memorabilia 👍
2:57 "You can bring Hannah a present home" 😂
if they found a front nose cone they could have brought that home to hannah too

Don’t think she will fit those old pink speedos
Legend says the site is haunted by Colin Chapman usually between 5 and 6am when he's just had his tea and a cigarette, faintly you can hear the yells 'trademark' and 'its actually proton' in what was the boardroom
The amount of pointless vandalism in the UK is depressing.
Can confirm where I live it's a yoke
Oh I used to live cose to a couple abandoned factories and I did some exploring with friends a few times when I was a bit younger and boi oh boi was it depressing. The most recent one was in about the same state as the Caterham one, except for maybe a couple old computers and a bit of now-useless IT-Equipment. Two production machines also remained there until they were sold of for scrap metal and now there will be an appartment complex, much to the dismay of the locals as it doesn't fit at all into local architecture. Another one was an old chemical factory and I believe the longest abandoned, but boi they left in quite the hurry. Cut up there acid tanks to verify that they were indeed empty but leaving probably several thousand euros worth of equipment, including a forklift, cranes and dozens, if not hundreds of barrels full of good knows what. Some idiot punctured several of them and whatever was inside hardened out to some sort of plasticy substance. They apparantly also were used to get rid of unwanted cars, because an old van and several cars had found there semifinal rest there, all in various states of „disassembly“. The owner was forced to tear the place down after the fire brigade had to investigate the place multiple times after people lit afforementioned cars on fire.
However by far the most interesting was and still is owned (and used again as there headquarters) the old Brandt factory a large zweiback / rusk manufacturer from Germany with iconic branding. They left the place somewhere in the 90s and when I was there in ~2017/18 there still stood machines used for kneading the dough, you could tell where they held live chicken to satisfy factory egg demand, conveyor belts were mostly still in place it was fascinating. The family couldn't tear the place down as it was put down as a mark of culture so they started rebuilding it. With the factory spanning over a street (with two iconic bridges in the middle) they first restored one side and I believe are in the process of getting the other side up to code and trying to find people to rent it out to. So who knows, maybe someone will by the Caterham factory and set up their own little racing team.
the area around the old Chernobyl rector is lots worse, not that I've been, just docus
everywhere else too :(
I’m very curious about why and how that particular article of clothing was left in there.
They were Aldas’ i heard - Haydon

2013 Catherham was one of the best looking cars of the decade, they were heading in the right direction before the hybrid era arrived
It's just crazy that it was never used for anything else. Like this monstrous facility and it's just sitting there unused.
former home of Arrows (1997-2002), Super Aguri (2006-08) and Caterham (2012-15). crazy to see the building in such a state.
plot twist: it's just the hass factory
My old workplace. Albeit briefly in Arrows days. Sad face 😞
Bet this is a tough watch for those who worked there
I love the way you imagine McLaren and their sterile environment, Ferrari and their own racetrack, Red Bull and a gigantic complex. Then you see this and think "They actually raced together?"
I was hoping they'd find an old engine or something here.
Us too... BUT we found the carbon moulds for it!
The engines are probably sold or auctioned off long before the factory was shut down, along with other expensive stuff like the cars and the steering wheels. Bearded Explorer found some signed Heikki Kovalainen driver cards though!
@@CUL8TR theres some stories of every hire van in the area descending on the factory soon after the news was broken, at least one engine ended up in the back of one of the vans lol
even if there was, it would have been stolen by now
Im very surprised no one has found any use for it even to this day with the relatively big size of the land and plenty of rooms for offices
It will be a good place for a WEC team
I think it shows how much more expensive it is to start a team now considering that it was the Arrows HQ, then Super Aguri and finally Lotus/Caterham but no one else wanted to take it on.
Facilities were old and location isn't good.
So sad to see, I worked there when it was Arrows F1
More abandoned f1 videos like this please!!!
Where shall we go next??
@@LiveFastYT haas factory lol
Anyone else getting Metal Gear Solid 4 vibes from them showing flashbacks to when the facility was operational?
"A surveillance camera!?"
Either that or the whole place having an overgrown Aperture Laboratories vibe to it.
i did my work experiance there. i was also there when the got red of the first lot of people i loved being there it was amazing wish someone would take the place over and restore it to how it was when the teams where there
Next episode: We go to jail for stealing from a long defunct F1 team
Yall are great, keep it up! Cant wait to see what the future holds for this project
Honestly would love to see someone renovate this place
A few years ago there was another team visiting this site, and it was in much better condition back then. It's a shame that there are people not respecting the rules of urbexing: Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footsteps. As an F1 fan, this really pisses me off.
100% agreed there
This used to be a former radio transmission station of British Telecom before Tom Walkinshaw bought it, so some of the space was likely used for studios and transmission equipment.
I walk past here on dog walks and it always blows my mind how such a big area with so many buildings has gone to waste. There must be some contractual reason that they have to wait out before knocking it down or selling the land. It was formerly the Arrows factory in the early 2000s so was used for some time.
Asbestos mitigation?
A fun fact for you, when the team were for sale it didn't include the factory, they wanted £6 million for it!
“Why are we always loosing” BANG that had me cracking up 😂
Adding this to my list of things to do if I ever go to the UK
My dad actually worked for Caterham f1 team, and I've been in that building. (Without smashing any windows)
Very interesting and you're a funny bunch, subscribed
This is an amazing video 😍

It surprises me that no other teams from any other racing series have taken that place on. Yes its an ex F1 facility but I'm sure that someone from the BTCC could probably afford it. Like you said, it has changed hands so many times that whoever owns it now is probably desperate to shift it!
Such a pity to see the place where I worked for 2 years is all vandalized.
Hola Elizabeth, leí un artículo sobre ti de hace años en el diario 20 minutos. Me alegra que llegaras a la F1, no se si todavía sigues. En todo caso enhorabuena, llegaste a lo máximo aunque fuera por un tiempo.

Its always saddening when an F1 team closes forever
You should recreate Call of Duty battle there or you guys should play hide and seek. It would be awesome
Sad and eerie at the same time.
This is sooooo sick!
1:54 I understood that reference! :D
As well as arrows and super aguri, it was also home to TWR
i was based in caterham 1975-77 in the army camp . i remember the old caterham cars place .

Would a Caterham 620R beat a lap time set by a 2021 Hass F1 car, on one lap of Silverstone ?
Yes for sure
Tommo 🙌
Strange they didn't mention the nearly new Sthill saw or whatever it was among the moulds.
I went inside 7 years ago, the place was untouched and not even damaged, only 1 door was unlocked by someone before us!
Man, this must hurt for any ex employees watching
1:55 when you land your first McTwist in THPS4
idk what i expected tbh but expected more
Those lights in the room that has the little pit, have theoretically been on for like 7 years
That’s just natural sunlight through!
Makes sense that even Caterham’s pool is green tbf
The best ‘lotus’
That's sick guys. Jealous!
honestly surprised no one has taken the molds and started making old parts or cars to sell
Wasn’t expecting Tomo f1 tbh
0:31 aha aha riiiiiiight sure :D
p.s. thought this was an urban explorer type of channel..
The pool matches the Caterham livery now
How Is that plasterboard f1 car thing still there. Or the molds, bet that stuff will be gone in a few days now.
Air soft there would me mad fun
The new top gear no cap
I just watched Aldas vid on Lewis and max at the Brazilian GP
The Haas Factory is in about the same condition
I would love there
