Honestly Matt, this is the content that I live for. Like you, I'm a massive fan of 90s Japanese cars and you've smashed it with this one. Looking forward to more content like this!
😂image a doctor bringing back to life a dead guy with the body of the guy he was ment to donate a kidney of something to 😂 My brain hurts from formulating that above sentence
These are so rare I can see why he wants to save them. Even back in the day there weren't many on the road. It was like seeing a Lotus Carlton, or Lancia Delta HF Integrale, or Sierra/Escort Cosworth, just without any of the performance of those cars 🙂. You saw them but hardly ever.
The 1990's were 'peak car' - enough of the necessary safety stuff to feel safe, better reliability that earlier decades, but still fairly analogue. I've just bought a MK1 Puma as a weekend car. Objectively, it's not as good as my two year old electric Corsa, but it is such fun!
That Nissan 100nx, make sure you pull the boot carpet back and take a look at the suspension struts. They used to crack/rust back in 2005. So definitely worth checking for safety. Yes I am Golders from the 100nx club back in the day!
As a low key and introverted individual who always prefer to bland in rather than to stand out I really like that car and what you did with it. You've got all the thrills and enjoyment of driving something rarer and with more caractere without lacking originality and joining the obvious community who like/buy anything that everybody else is already licking and buying at insane prices. Well done sir.
While most are chasing the newest electric cars and performance cars that most will never be able to obtain Matt has found the true petrolhead truth. That the most rewarding cars to drive and own are also some of the most affordable, not to mention saving the last of a dying breed. This is the content I am here for. bravo!
Well done Matt, this Nissan NX looks absolutely amazing, I like the finishing touches of the correct period font lettering on the registration plates. That is just what I would do, I don’t think pre 2001 vehicles look right with the new font, it’s just not how they would have been back in the day❤.
I like cars that are normally a lot quicker or bigger than that, not necessarily new or modern vehicles, but I really like what you have done with that little Nissan Matt. I really respect your work there and emphasize with your sentiments about not bothering whether you've overspent. Top job Matt 👍😁
It's what cars were built for, getting you from A to B and enjoying the journey, unlike modern cars full of *rap you don't really need which take your eyes off the road .
I had a good laugh when he showed the pictures of when it first arrived and said "It looked ready for the scrapyard". It's a huge disparity between locations, because my first through was "Wow, that looks better than about 75% of the vehicles I've driven for years."
What a glorious car. Some of these modernish classics, like this one, are simply superb. Great example of cars being worth more than its actual cash value. We need to save more of this era of cars
This is the most satisfying project you've done in ages. It harks back to the early days of Wheeler Dealers where EC made good a great many cheap, ordinary, yet lovely cars which now count as minor classics.
Back in the late 1990's I had a Nissan Sunny ZX in red. I sorted the body work and the mechanical's but my wife didn't like it, so it was sold. They're expensive and as rare, as rare can be now. How I miss that car, I had so many plans for it and things to do to finish it off.
Well done Sir Matt for restoring the Nissan, cracking job! Wish I had the health and the money to do similar to a mr2, Toyota corrola gti, Celica well pretty much anything Japanese. I'm 54 and feel like I'm waiting for God....tears again. Depression and anxiety because I've got fibromyalgia, terrible arthritis and not long ago I had prostate cancer.
something very cathartic about driving old school cars with no bells and whistles. Back to grass roots and driving with a smile.Long may you get 90's cars to do up.👍
What a save! The first Nissan I drove was a USDM NX I believe it had the 2 liter petrol SR20 in it, I can never forget how I felt when driving it! Super rare here too, I've recently saved a 1994 Honda Accord Coupe in LX trim myself if I could find a salvageable NX I wouldn't hesistate. You're very right that era of especially Japanese cars were so much easier to work on and live with.
There's a delicious irony watching Matt advertise Car Vertical "to avoid buying a lemon" whilst Matt updates us on Project Lemon... and his massive overspend! 😃 On a more serious note... nice restoration job, Matt. As you said, shame to see cars rot away!
Well done on sourcing the correct plates. It really lets the side down when I see an old classic with new style registration font. On the old style plates the characters/digits are 8mm bigger than the modern style, not just you that has nerdish tendencies ! ;-)
I bought my first new car in '92 and had it down to the Toyota Paseo, the Nissan NX or the Mazda MX-3 Presidio. I ended up choosing the Mazda MX-3 5spd and loved it until I decided to move from Halifax to Toronto and couldn't bring it with me. These little cars are so much fun.
Fantastic job. This brings back so many great memories. I owned a 3 year old 1991 model in red, although it didn't have the alloys or boot lip spoiler on your 3 cars. It was a rare sight even in the 90's and always turned heads. When I picked it up from the garage (with the roof off obviously) my partner said I was grinning from ear to ear and never stopped for the 5 years I owned it. Never missed a beat and totally reliable. In the end I only sold it to go full on convertible, but it wasn't as watertight as the 100NX. Don't stash it away in a garage, enjoy it, cars like that are meant to be seen and driven.
Definitely go for an MR2. The look of them has aged really well, great looking cars and in my opinion, one of the better looking sports cars on the road, even today. Looking forward to future projects 👌🏻👍🏻 Really liking these project videos. You’ve done an amazing job with that 100nx ✊🏻
Enjoyed this mini series Refreshing seeing these old cars saved, with the high peak autos touch Definitely do more if you ever get the chance as you’re saving small parts of history.
Well done Matt, great series of NX videos. I loved the Tom Robinson song going from mono to stereo surround sound at the touch of the head unit power button. CLASS.
Matt I’ve loved the 100nx series😊 older cars have some much character. Always said if I won the lottery I’d buy lots of rare, soon to be classic cars. Look forward to future classic projects💪🏼
I miss my Citroën AX from the 1980s. Cheap, cheerful and economical, because it was so light, and an absolute hoot to drive. Modern cars are just too heavy, with fiddly touch screens. I like this Nissan. Good job
With the resurgence of 90’s fashion and music, I can definitely see a trend coming for iconic cheap 90’s cars with Gen Z’s happening. Fiestas, Golf’s and Novas for example!
I daily drive a 95 Celica in white. Basically needs paintwork and more modern suspension and it's good to go. Already solved the most pressing mechanical problems.
Loved this video, been following the channel for a couple of years now and never imagined I'd see the day a 100nx appeared on it! Had one for a number of years in the noughties and still miss it. Such a fun car.
My dad had a H reg 200SX. It was a lightweight drifty beast. That was a manual coupe. Don’t see many of them about in the uk now. Most rusted away or have been tuned and crashed by drifters.
Well done, what a fantastic video from the UK's leading authority on Nissan 100NX's 🎉. You've got to take it to Festival of the Unexceptional next year!
Great job sir! I used to work for a Nissan dealership in the '90's my old boss used to put on his driving gloves before he used to drive his Cobalt Blue manual one. (SunnyGTI-R's were a tad quicker though)
This little 100NX shows just how enormous modern cars have got. Sure, they’re safer now with more gadgets but there’s something wonderful about a compact ‘90s coupe. Great job Matt 👌
My friend had one of these in blue in the 90’s about the same time I had a red Rover Coupe. Recently I had the chance to buy back that exact Rover Coupe! I’ve just got it MOT’d and driving it around again brings back so many memories of when I first owned it as well as looks from people as you don’t see too many on the roads nowadays just like the 100NX. Aim is to get the bodywork done next and back to how it looked when I sold it in 1996.
Matt please take one of these cars to Winnats Pass for a video! You nearly went there in a recent video and you were on the way there in this video, I thought that's where you were going both times, such an incredible road. If this Nissan doesn't like steep hills then maybe not in this car - Winnats Pass gets to almost 20% gradient near the top. One of the most amazing places I have ever seen, it's like an 8th wonder.
It's a lovely car and I've always liked them My neighbor used to have a blue one and I remember back years ago he was always out on a weekend tinkering with it The nx also reminds me a little of the Mazda 323 of the same era
Role model! 🎉 Good example for fixing up old stuff rather than just replacing it as soon as minor issues arise. This planned obsolescence thing isn’t good for us. And the car looks so nice! I miss the days when you could easily work on your own car. And keep it in shape. Nowadays with chocolate engines and frail electronics takes away the joy of car ownership.
I worked at Nissan for the launch of the Micra in'92 and at the time the 100NX was rare. Nissan gave certain employees a car and the usual choice was either the Primera eGT or the 200SX. Only one person ordered a 100NX for his wife (I don't think she was a hairdresser). For the Japanese market there was a 2l version which was much hotter, I think a couple were imported on the grey market. Now there would be a project Matt!
Excellent job Matt. I love nineties cars and have a really nice 1997 E39 BMW and a 1999 2.8 Z3. I don't mind what i spend on them because I love the feeling I get driving them. We also have a 14 year old Nissan Qasqhai - the car you love to hate, and have owned it from new and maintained it meticulously and it has never caused us a moments problem - 73k on the clock now. So, excuse me for smiling when you referenced Nissan build quality - never thought I'd see the day😉. Hats off to you for saving this one they are all worth it in the end.
Great subject matter this one especially for those of us who’ve owned 90s vehicles first time around. Your point about cars reaching the bottom of the depreciation curve and therefore not getting repaired/maintained is so true. But people need to ask what the car is worth to them rather than its market value. Maybe a few more will be saved. Well done Matt.
That turned into a really lovely car. Almost 20 years ago I owned a mid 90's Fiat Coupe. I sold it when things started to go wrong as I didn't have the cash to sort out the issues. I would love to have another one. Like the 100NX they're quirky and a lot of fun. Serious fun if you get the 20 valve turbo version. Like you said Matt. You can't beat a 90's sports car
saw one yesterday as it happens, looks as though it had had some money spent on it, looked nice I used to have a nice rare car, a MAZDA 626 COUPE, even remember the reg, F241GUF, never saw another one on the road when I had it years ago, went well as well, I looked online, and it looked like it was badged as an MX6 in Europe, might have to have another look into that, was a very reliable car as well, good old Japanese cars,
Well done Matt, great video (and editing). The 90s was a golden era, not only for cars, but life it's self. What a time to have been alive. Thanks for taking me back there for a short time.
Nice one. Really enjoyed this. I loved 80s Nissans. Cherry Turbo, Bluebird Turbo and Silvia were fantastic cars too. Dont think they make cars as good as that now.
What a nice way to end a difficult Monday by watching Matt overspend 😅
Sorry to hear you had a difficult day
Honestly Matt, this is the content that I live for. Like you, I'm a massive fan of 90s Japanese cars and you've smashed it with this one. Looking forward to more content like this!
Another car saved from the scrapheap and a rare one too nice work
A married bloke who was half a friend took up with a young girl who drove this white Nx,she came looking for him/me 5 nights a week
PTSD 😱
Next video: I'VE BOUGHT EVERY NISSAN 100NX ON PLANET EARTH!
😂
AND HE OVERSPENT AGAIN
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂

Full respray on the blue one? That's one hell of a dedication, mad respect!
I agree - this 100NX series of videos has been one of my favourites to watch. I love unusual 1990s cars.
1990’s BMW were peak for me.
90s Toyotas the best
Agree - so many good 90s cars. Some of my favourites: EG/EK Civic, Accord Type R, Audi B5 S4, BMW E39, Clio Williams...
That Nissan 100nx, make sure you pull the boot carpet back and take a look at the suspension struts. They used to crack/rust back in 2005. So definitely worth checking for safety. Yes I am Golders from the 100nx club back in the day!

It makes me super glad to see you save these cars as a 100NX owner myself, they're great fun and deserved to be put back on the road
While most are chasing the newest electric cars and performance cars that most will never be able to obtain Matt has found the true petrolhead truth.
That the most rewarding cars to drive and own are also some of the most affordable, not to mention saving the last of a dying breed. This is the content I am here for. bravo!
The value of 90s stuff is getting higher, a era of great cars that need to be saved.
Well done Matt, this Nissan NX looks absolutely amazing, I like the finishing touches of the correct period font lettering on the registration plates.

It's what cars were built for, getting you from A to B and enjoying the journey, unlike modern cars full of *rap you don't really need which take your eyes off the road .
Reminds me of "Triggers broom" Its very original, its had 3 new engines, 4 new body shells......🤩
I had a good laugh when he showed the pictures of when it first arrived and said "It looked ready for the scrapyard". It's a huge disparity between locations, because my first through was "Wow, that looks better than about 75% of the vehicles I've driven for years."
2 4 6 8 Motorway,,,Tom Robinson,,,blast from the past,,,😎
Brilliant, Superb 100 NX Action 👍👍👍
Exactly why I love my 2003 agila 1.2. Simple motoring. No computers, basic mechanics to do yourself and no speeding tickets. Love the 90-00’s cars 👌
What a glorious car. Some of these modernish classics, like this one, are simply superb. Great example of cars being worth more than its actual cash value. We need to save more of this era of cars
You're doing the Lords work.
This is the most satisfying project you've done in ages. It harks back to the early days of Wheeler Dealers where EC made good a great many cheap, ordinary, yet lovely cars which now count as minor classics.
A time capsule back to happier, simpler times. Well done Matt, great result.
If I had my time again I'd like to work for Matt's support network ( Jimmy , prestige wheels etc ) . You'd never be out of work.
Made me feel 22 years old again ☺️ I’m glad to have kept my MK1 Miata 😎
Mazda 323F is also one of those cars that are forgotten but look cool in my opinion.
Pop up headlights too. 👍
@@TheSimonhammond yes, the older ones with the pop ups, but the later models without them are also nice!
Hi Matt, another one saved ! With labour costs and scrappage schemes cars of this age have been disappearing for no real reason, well done !
You got there in the end Matt 👍Personally I would store that car and eventually put it to auction. Well done !
Back in the late 1990's I had a Nissan Sunny ZX in red. I sorted the body work and the mechanical's but my wife didn't like it, so it was sold. They're expensive and as rare, as rare can be now. How I miss that car, I had so many plans for it and things to do to finish it off.
This is awesome. 90s cars are hy far the most appealing by a country mile. You've done a brilliant job!
Well done Sir Matt for restoring the Nissan, cracking job! Wish I had the health and the money to do similar to a mr2, Toyota corrola gti, Celica well pretty much anything Japanese. My grandparents had one when I was 5 year old, something like that. 2 liter GTi, fastest car I had been in for years😄
looks great, had one of these in red, also automatic but with digital dash that looked so cool
What a save! The first Nissan I drove was a USDM NX I believe it had the 2 liter petrol SR20 in it, I can never forget how I felt when driving it! What brilliant and quirky cars, I hope to see you and the NX one day at Festival of the Unexceptional perhaps!
Car is looking good Matt lovely job 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
It looks amazing now. I’m blown away by the refreshed paint finish. He truly is a magician! PS. Love the music choice as you drove off! 2, 4, 6, 8…
Massively overspent but certainly worth it seeing a rare car live a little longer. Well done Matt
Fantastic job. This brings back so many great memories. I owned a 3 year old 1991 model in red, although it didn't have the alloys or boot lip spoiler on your 3 cars. Exceptional soundtrack for this one! Please keep adding this type of music to your videos, Matt😃
Always really liked the 100NX, plus the Toyota Paseo too. Great little coups the golden age of Japanese motors 👍
Definitely go for an MR2. The look of them has aged really well, great looking cars and in my opinion, one of the better looking sports cars on the road, even today. Looking forward to future projects 👌🏻👍🏻

Oh hello, check out the production on this vid. Great work lads
I absolutely love that you do this to cars that most people would pass on. So so awesome.
I enjoyed the project! need to do more Japanese 90s cars. Next do a 323F
My wife would be livid with you hearing you say "Nobody really cares about a Kia Picanto" hahaha Awesome video as always!
I had one of these back in 1990 or so in Germany, a year before they were lunched in europe. It was American spec and import with digital type dash.
The attention to all details is just wow 😳
She looks beautiful! Fantastic job saving her, Matt.
Looking forward to that future restoration video of the White Toyota MR2. 😉
I have to say as well that in my household we are waiting and cheering when you say "well we're here".
Almost like a drinking game.
I miss my Citroën AX from the 1980s.
Cheap, cheerful and economical, because it was so light, and an absolute hoot to drive.
Modern cars are just too heavy, with fiddly touch screens.

I daily drive a 95 Celica in white. Basically needs paintwork and more modern suspension and it's good to go. Already solved the most pressing mechanical problems.
Brilliant this mate! Keeping cars on the road! you should get a government grant for this stuff!
Great work Matt, I love these videos where you're saving old cars from the scrapyard, keep it up 👍👌
Glad you like them!
Very nice from a time where autos didn't use electronics it's go on for many more miles
love the filming style
Well done, what a fantastic video from the UK's leading authority on Nissan 100NX's 🎉. You've got to take it to Festival of the Unexceptional next year!
Nice one Matt. My classic is a generation earlier - 1968 Triumph 2000 - but good to see any older car kept on the road. Keep up the good work.

Latest count 48 licensed with 213 on sorn in the UK so plenty more project & donor cars available to Matt
Watch this space !
Whoa! Production values are up a notch.
I. Loved. This. Video.
Great stuff, Matt. Your passion and enthusiasm for modern classics really shone through.
It's a lovely car and I've always liked them
My neighbor used to have a blue one and I remember back years ago he was always out on a weekend tinkering with it
The nx also reminds me a little of the Mazda 323 of the same era
Followed this little 100NX series. Fun little car. It’s just a shame we didn’t get the NX2000 like they had in the USA. Well done Matt.
Absolutely wonderful car
I love your passion
Never stop
Thank you
looks amazing, every one needs a Jimmy the Magician in their life!
As someone who owns a base spec manual 1998 EK1 Civic i love 90s cars
I worked at Nissan for the launch of the Micra in'92 and at the time the 100NX was rare. Nissan gave certain employees a car and the usual choice was either the Primera eGT or the 200SX. Only one person ordered a 100NX for his wife (I don't think she was a hairdresser). For the Japanese market there was a 2l version which was much hotter, I think a couple were imported on the grey market. Now there would be a project Matt!
That 100nx looks gorgeous all time any monet has really paid off saving this 90's classic. Wish I'd never got rid of mine I had a few years ago.

But people need to ask what the car is worth to them rather than its market value. Maybe a few more will be saved. Well done Matt.
Top Work . Especially Getting Tom Robinson on Board. He raises a Lot of Awareness for about Good causes. A Great DJ and Musican. Great Car
I've been driving cars since 1987 and never seen one before!
You can't beat a 90's sports car
saw one yesterday as it happens, looks as though it had had some money spent on it, looked nice
I used to have a nice rare car, a MAZDA 626 COUPE, even remember the reg, F241GUF, never saw another one on the road when I had it years ago, went well as well, I looked online, and it looked like it was badged as an MX6 in Europe, might have to have another look into that, was a very reliable car as well, good old Japanese cars,
You manage to make the “last car on earth” that I’d want still interesting! Oh boy!
That was a brilliant edit when you started driving it!! Absolutely love your content Matt, you're always my go to youtube channel!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks matt thing is it puts a smile on people's faces when see them on the road 😀
Love it when a car is saved and restored to close to mint,a really interesting looking car, auto box as well,I can see a queue wanting to own it.
Ooh that’s expensive music. Another step up in production. Great car great video Mat. 👍🏻
Definitely feeling a new wind blowing! Absolutely love this era of cars with their straightforward mechanics and pure driving experience, let's go ;-)
