This is another one in my series of my personally “remastered” classic horror games. Shadow of the Comet is a great game, but it’s also quite a broken one. So in this special edit I’ve addressed its most glaring issues to make it a more entertaining experience (full list of fixes below). It required thousands of edits and an entirely new custom subtitle track. Hope you like it! Animations playing at 2x speed - Fixed Voice tracks desyncing from subtitles - Fixed Missing SFX - Fixed Subtitles hard to read - Fixed Soundtrack Not Playing - Fixed Intro not synced with music - Fixed Crackling Audio - Mostly Fixed Miss Picott - You can’t fix Miss Picott! The video also includes the bonus Lovecraft Museum at the end. It features lots of cool cosmic horror relics (including the Necronomicon). *I'm sure there will be a few typos in the subtitles. Apologies for that. There was a LOT of text to go through so I'm sure some slipped through.
@@suffering9668 Hi! Sadly, I don't think there's any way to modify the game files to fix the issues (the voice desynchronization especially). This was all done with a lot of video editing.
Now i've seen a lot of your let's plays and i always enjoyed them but i would've never guessed you'd do THIS for a game forgotten in the ocean of the past. As a lover of Lovecraft i've never heard of this game so this is for me a great discovery, i am stunned, amazed. Thank you for your work and all your content, much love from France (and sorry for the mispelling).
I just wanted to add: This isn't some slap-dash Lovecraftian pastiche of a game. Whoever made this put a love into it and was steeped in Lovecraft's fiction and his life. Very impressive.
I actually thought this was a modern game made as a satire of 90's PC games (because of the voice acting, character's faces and graphics) but the fact it is a genuine game from the time is honestly impressive.
Please, please, please look into "Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers" and watch a longplay of that. I guarantee you're going to love it. After that, any Sierra Online game, but definitely GK:SotF first! You're welcome.
Nowhere did I read that the game is designed as satire. The voice actors are phenomenal. In no modern game I do not hear such acting, and even more so the high tone, for even when the characters scream in modern games, as if they are screaming at home at night.
I remember found this game on abandonware sites quite some time ago. My copy failed the emulation, so I discard and forgetting this. I may try this again

Oh hell yeah, You going to do Prisoner of Ice next? (And if you do please do the version with the good accents...) I've had issues finding the right playthrough of this game, they usually have too much dead air or the commentary is dull. This is honestly perfect for my sense of style.

ayy nice man. I had a DOSbox phase and this game ended up being my favorite I played. Nearly beat it but got to some very frustrating point I cant quite remember.
Ayyyy I remember watching good old Retsupurae riff on this game years ago! Hard to remember a lot but I for sure remember when they saw the flying on wings portion and proceeded to nearly laugh themselves into an early grave. They even titled the riff's videos after the long pauses in the dialog hahaha! Good times.
The musical soundfont in this game sounds like the one used for the Ecco the Dolphin games. The animation is quite good for this games release. The animated portraits totally remind me of Lost Eden to a point. lol I think I am going to enjoy this LP tho.
The towns people are really unsettling even from the moment Parker gets to town. Something just feels off about everything. The game really nails the atmosphere and creepy factor when it plays properly without the awkward pauses between voice lines and other issues being distracting.

Yeah, if you put all the technical issues aside, this is one of my all-time favorite Lovecraft adaptions. It's a crying shame it's never recieved a proper remaster.
Oh this one takes me back to when Retsupurae did a watchthrough on a longplay of this where the game would take half a minute to load each piece of dialogue, resulting in these long and awkward staredowns between characters. Haha, yeah the desynchronization between the voice work and the subtitles is horendous! I had to fix it for this video.
