Dear prudence and this is epic tbh the white album is just a masterpiece
The best bass line ever. McCartney at his best musically.
If only there wasn’t so much filler. If they cut down the album to like 15 songs, it’d legit be perfect
No it’s not, it’s full of bad songs, with a few good ones. Abbey Road is the masterpiece.
@@gabg1538 whats your 15 track album look like?
@@newkzi6286
I actually learned to like every single song on the White album (even Revolution 9) in the last month when I really got back into the band. So my take has slightly changed. Still think a shorter album would’ve been better
1. Back In The USSR
2. Dear Prudence
3. Glass Onion
4. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
5. Happiness Is A Warm Gun
6. Martha My Dear
7. I’m So Tired
8. Blackbird
9. Rocky Racoon
10. Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?
11. I Will
12. Sexy Sadie
13. Helter Skelter
14. Revolution 1
15. Savoy Truffle
I have a friend whose daughter said to me - “did you know Paul McCartney was in a band”.
Similar to the fabled "...in a band before Wings" question.
Back in the early '80s, I bought a copy of Wings Greatest Hits at a Target. The young girl checking me out said "Hmm, Wings, I never heard of them." I said "It's Paul McCartney! He used to be in the Beatles!" She's getting aggravated now. "I KNOW who Paul McCartney is. What? Was this a band he was in before the Beatles?"
You mean Kanye West didn’t discover McCartney, who knew? ; ) (sarcasm)
That's funny as hell.
He was in a band? I had no idea
@@Prime.Griezmann
Yes. You play a fine bass and are old like all the rest of us “Meet the Beatles” fans/musicians.
George's solo is legendary in the first transition. Probably my favorite lick from the whole album.
You never have to convince someone to love the Beatles, you just have to play them for them
The Beatles are the Mozarts and Bachs of the Twentieth century. There were none that could compare with their songwriting talents. Their musicianship was average, but their innovation was stratospheric. Their imagery, melody, and harmonic sensibilities went unmatched and most will say still are until this day.
Musicianship was actually their strongest trait. The chemistry all four of them had was palpable. The smart one, the quiet one, the goofy one, and the cute one. I’ve never seen another band like it.
I think their musicianship is underrated because they don't do 15 minute guitar solos
I have heard "serious music" aficionados argue that Lennon and McCartney are the finest British composers of all time.
I think Paul and Ringo are usually rated among the greatest instrumentalists of their own instruments. George too but like someone said, he tended not to do long solos.
Bring On The Lucie!!
I'm at the age where I have grandchildren that need to be Baptized in Beatles music. I have a new granddaughter who loves them.
I raised my kids on The Beatles and now my grandkids.
I raised my now 26 year old daughter on the Beatles. Growing up when I’d drive her around in the car I’d quiz her on which Beatle was singing what song, and she got really really good at that. And then she went away to college and when she came home for Christmas she couldn’t get even ONE RIGHT. After her last failed attempt I told her she just cannot go thru life thinking that particular skill is unimportant. She just shrugged. HOWEVER... I used to watch her best friend after school since they both were 3 years old and the friend is the one who picked up on my love of the Beatles. And the friend has already made sure her 4 year old got the bug too .So life is good haha.
It’s never too early to begin the indoctrination. Lucky grandchildren- they’ll love you for it!
As someone who didn’t grew up with Beatles music, I just now got into them at 15, I’m 16 now but I wish I had grown up listening to them!
@@meooowww3672 I started listening to them seriously when I was 15 years old, in 1970. Before then, I was aware of them, but it wasn't until Let It Be got my attention in 1970 that I started buying their albums. That was life-changing.
They were so far ahead of their time. This is a great group effort on this song with amazing Lennon vocals.
I agree “Dear Prudence” is a gem. “Birthday” is a fun rocker. Great reaction, as usual. Thank you...
Birthday is a fun song like zeppelins Fool in the rain they both rock
The end of Back in the USSR transitions great into Dear Prudence.
@@kenhernandez8128 Yes I think he'll love both of those!
HEY BULLDOG
As much as I love this song, I was in NYC when John was shot down, and this song still stabs me to my heart.
Such a sad irony to this song. Fuck Chapman.
@@rssmdb1 They set him loose. Sad
Sadness is a cold knife
My dad was at Mayfair Towers and heard the shots. We considered them distant friends. Even salvaged a Christmas card from Yoko and Sean that my dad had the common sense to save. :-(
I was 6 and lived in the city...I remember walking into my apartment building with my parents...ill never forget this guy coming out and telling my parents John was just shot and killed...we were blocks away....that was the first tragedy that I can remember in my life...ill never forget that moment
"While my guitar gently weeps" is unreal, you'd love it!
Try While My Guitar Gently Weeps, amazing song
I'd suggest the live version from the George Harrison tribute. It has Prince on the ending solo.
Don't listen to this guy telling you to listen to the live version, which is not the Beatles. Listen to the original version. Also, you might like a song called "Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey"
The original from The White album is best. Start there, then you can listen to other versions if it pleases you.
@@ShaunWagner that was on a TV show, not the Harrison tribute!
@@zetmoon Correct. I was referring to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute, not the Concert for George tribute. I got the two confused - but then when is any versin of this song bad?
"Back in the USSR," "Birthday," "Savoy Truffle," "Glass Onion," Ballad of John and Yoko." All great get you moving Beatles tunes. You've really delved in deep but damn this rabbit whole runs deep!!
If you are a fan of guitars, check out Yer Blues or While My Guitar Geently weeps
Yeah, I was thinking Yer Blues. While My Guitar is a good one too.
Helter Skelter too.
@@RicoBurghFan, he already reacted to Helter Skelter
"And Your Bird Can Sing", "Revolution", "Taxman", "Rain", "Paperback Writer", "Helter Skelter" ... lots of screaming guitars! Eric Clapton plays the lead on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and the live version of "Yer Blues" from The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. Spectacular!
Yer blues is incredible
This is such a fabulous song. One of my favorites. I love the background lyrics: "Bang, bang, shoot, shoot."
“It’s a movie” Yaaassss!!! That’s exactly what a true artist is supposed to make you fell! Much love! 💕
"Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy working overtime." Gotta be my favorite John line ever.
This song is funny as hell. The story behind it has probably been told in the comments already so I won't repeat it.
Try golden slumbers, carry that weight, the end medley. This was the last song recorded in the studio for The Beatles. Its a fitting way to end
I have been waiting for someone to do the abbey road medley!! How has no one started that trend yet?!
I would love him to do all of side 2 of Abbey Road in a single reaction
@@chops5853 Absolutely!
"Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except for Me And My Monkey".
"Tomorrow Never Knows" you will love it dude!
That song is so perfectly bizarre and I love it! Lots oddities on The White Album, lots of rockers too!
You nailed it. The Beatles are special. No one like them ever since the beginning of the classic rock era, which they helped start.
Young man, it's pleasing to me to see how much you're into their music....It warms my heart....The Beatles taught my generation through their music how important it is to love your follow man....They are the greatest band that ever lived....You should have seen how popular they were back in the day....Girls were going stone crazy over them......(I promise)... a thousand years from now...The Beatles will still be relevant.
As someone with a life long love of the Fabs it’s so satisfying to see them praised by all in future generations. I was 15 when they broke up and expected them to fade away to history. Your praise and reaction is deeply moving to this grandpa.
If you play the second side of Abbey Road, from Because to The End, you will have an out of body experience! It’s the zenith of the Beatles recordings. They knew it was their last album and they pulled out all of the stops!
Agree.
That showed their genius - making gold out of sweeping from the floor of unfinished ideas as they wrapped up and cleared up before leaving without leaving a mess
💯!!!
The White Album and Abbey Road are their best albums ever imo. Abbey Road because of the way it flows together. The definition og an album. Plus the first side has absolutely brilliant songs.
The white album because it's a collection of all them, with their individual skills and tastes, at their peak. It might not flow together, but that's the point. It's just a masterclass list of the best band ever.
@@el34glo59Honey Pie sounds like a 1920s song
The White Album was their best IMO. Such a great variety of eclectic songs that were very specific to the individual Beatles. Keep digging into it Haze, your mind will continue to be blown 💯💯💯💯
It's hard for me to choose between Revolver and Sgt. Pepper's
@@jonb3201 It's like choosing your favorite type of candy.
@@RicoBurghFan for now I'm listening to Roadrunner - Brockhampton 😍😍😍
White Album and Abbey. Desert island.....white album.
Although not my favorite (Abbey Road), I've always said that for pure creativity, the White Album is their best album.
Lennon said he wrote the song because it was on the cover of a gun magazine .
Ironically he was shot to death in front of his apartment in New York December 1980
That guitar riff at the beginning, when you rewinded it, is one of my all-time favorite parts of any Beatles song.
“Sexy Sadie” , 🎶what have you done? Ya made a fool of everyone. You laid it down for all to see.
This is my jam! Hope he reacts to it!
Yep, I think Sexy Sadie is one of their most underrated songs. Absolutely love it.
I am a Beatles fan. I went to music school to learn bass performance because of hearing The Beatles. I bought and almost memorized "The Beatles: Complete Scores". "Sexy Sadie" is one of their greatest compositions (not just lyrics, instrumentation or theory); It is efficient.
I was out hanging with my “homies” in early 80’s listening to Beatles among others from 60’s and 70’s. Back in my day many of us listened to our parents music.
Nobody could do it quite like The Beatles....others could get close, but there was that special magic and chemistry between those four guys that has NEVER been repeated.
Billie Eilish said Happiness is a Warm Gun is the first song she ever performed in front of people at her school. lol --- The was inspired when John Lennon was at a magazine stand and he saw a gun magazine that said, "Happiness is a Warm Gun". Where that slogan came from is from Peanuts, Snoopy & Charlie Brown. Charles Schultz who created Peanuts came up with the slogan "Happiness is a Warm Puppy" referring to Snoopy and that slogan became popular and got used in different ways. This a John Lennon song and he sings the main vocals and the rest of The Beatles sing backup vocals.
Love watching you react to The Beatles as you travel through their incredible catalogue. It’s really amazing seeing how you learn how great they were. Changed music forever. Keep it going man!
Bro, this song never fails to give me chills, what a classic
I grew up listening to the Beatles and they are still as vivid and clear today ~ yeah fire~ they are still the best
I feel like you would get so hyped to "I'm So Tired"
The Beatles...it's a deep, deep rabbit hole you've burrowed into my friend. Enjoy it.
I think this is Lennons most impressive composition ever ever ever PERIOD! Absolute genius at the times standards! One of the best ever Beatles songs
This song is complex. It has about 5 sections
This and strawberry fields are my best ever. This song arrangement blows my mind. The way it constantly changes but still works effortlessly together. Amazing man.
"Getting Better" for fun and some dope af bass licks, also, the harmonies on this track are NEXT LEVEL!
A Lennon masterpiece. The Beatles rehearsed this song for hours and hours to shape it and perfect it. This is a start to finish take. I've noticed HB you haven't reacted to early Beatles music. Songs like 1963's Twist and Shout and You Really Got A Hold On Me. Or 1964's Rock And Roll Music. The connection you are making with The Beatles, starts with these songs. The songs the Beatles loved to perform, before they were THE BEATLES. Fantastic reaction HB, RNB
I adore people being excited to explore older tracks. And people will mostly realize, our music was always so inspired.
"Savoy Truffle" and "Hey Bulldog" are two lesser known Beatles tunes that really rock
The Beatles suddenly became so big in the 63, 64 and 65. Beatlemania appeared. They had their unbelievable fame and success globally and they could have just stuck to what they did at the moment and enjoyed life, but they didn't. I'm really really really glad they didn't. They kept learning, exploring and evolving in their music. Their music grew, so did their fans, who have learned to appreciate better music
🎼Listen to “Rocky Raccoon” for a real spin change. I ain’t jokin either! It on the White Album.🎼
Another masterpiece
Yeah, there were some shots fired in that one...and a girl named McGuille, who called herself "Lil" but everyone knew her as "Nancy"
@@yohannbiimu
“...he said, Rocky, ya met your match!
...he said, Doc, it’s only a scratch...”
(hard to believe it’s the Beatles doing it)
Rocky lost but he had heart. Such a random song with Paul trying to sound like an American hillbilly is just amazing.
The entire White Album from1968 was AMAZING! Love it! 🎶🎶🎵🇨🇦🇨🇦
This and Rocky Racoon, from the White Album (actually self Titled Beatles album) are songs ive loved since i was 8 years. Now, looking back, what amazes me is how they made such amazing, ground breaking music like this...in thier MID-TWENTIES!
A totally John song, both Paul and George loved it.
Beatles are on a different level... there's them and then everybody else😀
My late brother's favorite Beatles song. Love you Chuck.
Peace
John was watching TV in America and an advert on the TV was a smoking gun with the subtitle - happiness is a warm gun. This is an anathema to British people who do not worship guns.
Try magical mystery tour
With a side of orange sunshine.
Greatest Band ever!!!!!! They could do anything, and make up something totally new and different.
The part with the heavy riff, where that organ comes in sounding like a nightmare carnival or merry go round because John needs "a fix" is awesome.
They once held the top five spots on the billboard top 40 , not sure anyone else has ever done that before or after, that’s how great they were
Yeah. April fourth 1964. Still a record.
It's never been done again, not before or after the Beatles.
Please PLEASE Abbey Road Medley. This will blow your mind
Ye ma’am indeed ! That drumming by Ringo in the end just gets me every time , a little long for the medley but a damn good suggestion nevertheless! Bravo !!!
Yup!! My thoughts exactly!!!
And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make
True that!!
@@tinypurplefishesrunlaughin8052 Yes, Ringo's lone drum solo is epic.
I love your vids man!!!! The Beatles are too good
If this song was an hour long I would still be into it 100%.
Great selection Man. Happy music travels....PS..."Give "Everybody's Got Something To Hide except For Me and My Monkey" a try when you get a chance...great cowbell!!!
You should do abbey road medley
I dig that you're playin Beatles for your boys! Spread the gospel of John, Paul, George and Ringo!
In my opinion one of the best Beatles songs
While My guitar gently weeps
John Lennon - vocals (doubled), electric guitar, Hammond organ
Paul McCartney - piano, bass, backing vocals
George Harrison - electric guitar, backing vocals
Ringo Starr - drums, tambourine
Dude it's so beautiful to see someone react like that to all these songs I've loved for years!!
Dude, the Beatles opened the Whole World''s eyes!!
A hard rocker Beatles song from that same album. Please, react to "Everybody has something to hide except for me and my monkey". That song is extreme 🔥 fire!
While my guitar gently weeps
That’s why the Beatles are the greatest band of all time, they play so many different types of songs and it works
Another thing that’s amazing is that everything you hear was in a 6 year period. They just kept banging out the music and then as suddenly as they appeared, they were gone. They left behind a mountain of music and accomplishments that will never be equaled. You can bet the farm on that.
Check out Yer Blue and Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for me and my Monkey 🐒. Love the White Album and another great REACTION to the Beatles! Fire, FIRE, FIRE! Call out the Fire Department 🚒🚒🚒🔥🔥
Right on!
Yer blues is good, pleace react to it
Beatles music refusing to be put in a box
I was 11 when this album came out. I knew when I heard it, I was hearing something incredible, something unlike anything that had come before. The Beatles were wordsmiths, capturing the events of the day in words, fire before we assigned the word fire to music...
Listening to your excitement reminds me how I felt when I discovered Beatles song I never heard before.
Dear John, George, RIP.
A unique, trippy Beatles song is "Tomorrow Never Knows". There are two types of people in the world: those who love "Tomorrow Never Knows" and those who haven't heard it.
HazeBruv ... you are just describing the phenomenon that the Beatles are from the sky with diamonds even w/o a Lucy. I am old already but it makes me warm that young ppl still detect this very thing. I am happy that I was on a Macca-Concert in Hamburg in 2003. I am unhappy that I never could see Lennon. - If you are interested: They often are compared with Franz Schubert, who only reached 31 years (1797-1828). But he wrote incredible stuff, too.
The George Lead guitar in this is The Best Of The Album
Awesome as always Bruv ! “YER BLUES “. !!!
Haze cracks me up. He gets such a blast from the Beatles.
Finally someone reacting appropriately to this amazing recording.
The lyrics to this song are so strong; This was John's reaction, to seeing an advert in a US magazine, that read... "Get ready for the Long Hot Summer, Happiness is a Warm Gun"... The idea that having a gun, to kill people would make you happy, stayed with john..... I also use to wonder how john knew, about working overtime, while in a dream, "lying with his eyes, while his hands are busy working overtime".... And; "Multicoloured Mirrors on his hobnail boots".... the fashion of putting an extra shine on your boots, Military style..... Before we even talk about the guitar.......
Holy crap. YES. Beatles are fire. I don't care how "mainstream" people think they are. Thanks for saying it. Subscribed!!!! 😉😉😉
Love how John incorporated sexual references so seamlessly. If memory serves me correctly, there is like ten time changes! This is the song that helped to save the Beatles! With all the tension during the White Album sessions. Interestingly, the song wasn’t complete. John was suffering from so many continuous hours playing the guitar, he was finding it hard to play...having to settle on what we know, not what he was aiming for!
There was a book by Charles Schultz (creator of "Peanuts") called "Happiness Is A Warm Puppy," that used the "Happiness is..." theme throughout it. It was published a few years before this song, and I think it influenced the title.
Sort of. There was a piece in a rifle magazine called “Happiness is a warm gun” which directly inspired John. The name of the article is based on the peanuts book.

I truly appreciate the enthusiasm you bring to your reactions.Have you reacted to Day in The life or Sargent Pepper yet?
I really liked the inspiration for this song. I don't think I fully understand everything this song does as it seems to go into a few different topics but it was inspired by a bit of culture shock they experienced while in the US. They were seated in the waiting room of a music studio looking at magazines when John was struck by the cover of a gun enthusiast magazine that featured a Father and Son smiling at a shooting range and read "Happiness is a warm gun". Although the idea of a Father teaching a Son to use a firearm and bonding over it is or at least was normal in American culture it was a foreign concept to them.
And they said The Beatles couldn't do that.
Well, they did that.
Thom Yorke said this tune inspired him heavily with the early music of radiohead.
And 50-odd years later this song is still very weird and out there. Sounds like a modern band
I’ve been a Beatles fan for years but am just now really digging into this side of their music! can’t wait for the next video 🙏🏼
dude, late 60's - early 70-s. greatest epoch in songwriting history. ...and it has to be said... the pioneers were this band right here.
You love all the Beatles songs you've heard so far, and you've barely scratched the surface! You're in for a treat 😊
They have more than 200 next level songs believe me!
You make feel good videos, you're funny and express yourself excellently.
Glad u love The Beatles .. happy to share the love with u and other lovers of their music ... so many other great bangers and fire for u to enjoy
I haven't heard this song in 20 years and still could sing it by heart.
Let's just say he wasn't talking about a gun of the pew pew variety. This was during the start of John Lennon's venture into heroin.
Or Yoko. The final section can be interpreted as an actual gun, a junkies needle or a woman. The Beatles were masters of the double/triple entendre.
Agreed. This always sounded like he was extolling the rapture of sex. lol
He got the title of the song from a gun magazine tho
John refered to yoko.as mother alot
Song was based on a gun magazine not heroin. The end is about sex not heroin. I don’t know if any part is about heroin at all actually. Maybe the “I need a fix” part but John denied it. “Cold Turkey” was about that not really this track though
your on the same musical trip, we took 50 years ago.... after a light of a smoke...w/ headphones in hand.....off to never-never land .......its sooo hard not to drink their kool-aid .. and w/ the Beatles ........... A musical vibe of creativity thrived thru-out the 60's,70's,
Challenge 5....Revolution Number 9...dare ya!
Absolutely love your reaction to these great Beatles songs, you totally get them. Would you believe you’ve only scratched the surface? You’re in for one hell of a ride my friend, enjoy!
This song reminds me of You Never Give Me Your Money how it constantly chops and changes. 2 of my a time favourite Beatles songs.. Just mind blowing..
