    You just reminded me... we can do this for Christmas stamped candles ... you do the same thing, just stamp on tissue paper with your favorite SU stamp. Also, you can use Dollar tree candles that have the light in them. They are wax covered, but you have to be very careful to not over heat. Thank you for sharing.. this is easy, not too expensive and nice little stocking stuffers.

    • @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting
      @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting  День тому +1

      @@kirstierhodes2058 possibly, whatever you use has to be very thin otherwise as the candle burns it doesn't burn the paper. Purely decorative wouldn't matter & for safety obviously candles should never be left unattended while burning. Thank you for your comments 😊 truly appreciated

    Oh Jane, I adore this idea. I am wondering if greaseproof paper is the same as what we call parchment paper here in the U.S., I don't think I've ever seen anything labeled greaseproof. Your little bird images are stunning and I think I'm going to make some of these for Christmas gifts for the girls in my husbands office. Thank you so much for once again inspiring me to create outside of my normal box. Have a lovely day.

    • @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting
      @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting  Рік тому +1

      Yes I believe parchment is the same, try doing a small candle to get the hang of it first, as need paper tight & not let heat gun rest on one spot for too long or can melt unevenly. Make great presents x

    • @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting
      @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting  3 роки тому +1

      I have never tried a hair dryer. The heat tool melts the wax of the candle very quickly & keeps it pitting or melting into holes. I think a hairdryer may not be hot enough or give an even melt. Worth a try though. I would use a cheap candle that you don’t mind wasting x

    • @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting
      @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting  Рік тому +1

      I would doubt it, unless it was very thin. Tissue paper is very thin so melts into the candle & becomes invisible apart from the coloured image x

  • @jaynemoline9239
    @jaynemoline9239 Рік тому +1

    I love this video. You made the steps so much easier and clearer than other videos I've seen. A couple questions for you- I love the look of white and cream colored candles, however some napkins have a darker background that will be used on candles. What do you suggest for choosing a candle color for darker backgrounds? Do they work just as well on the white candles? Also, were you using paraffin wax candles? Does this work just as well on soy candles?

    • @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting
      @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for your comments. I always use white or cream even with dark napkins as when melt the candle the napkin gets covered with a thin layer so the clearer the better. Can use soy or paraffin or bees wax as long as melt evenly so don't get holes. I use IKEA candles as cheap but good quality. Hope that helps x

    • @JaneAllmarkAmethystarcrafting

      Linda Avinou . It will work on any solid candle, perfumed or not. Be careful if the candle is colour coated with a different colour core as the outer surface of the candle melts with this technique so the coloured coating will melt exposing different coloured core. X

      I’m not sure as have never seen or used wax paper. Parchment paper or grease proof paper is what I use. You can always try wax paper on a small candle to see. What you want to achieve is a tight seal which will give a smooth finish after you have removed paper. Good luck x

      The melting wax of the candle does the trick, so It won't work on anything that does not have wax in it. For glass I would look into etching, engraving pen and glass painting. For would you could also look into engraving pens and wood burning.
