    Hi, I have always used a hair dryer for all my transfer work on candles. I have never had a problem with it. 😊 great instructions and a lovely image. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi, oh that's good to know for everyone that does not have or want to buy a heat gun. I suppose im just not used to it and found it a bit more difficult but thanks for mentioning it, also thank you for your kind words x

      Sorry I did not see this message until now. I bought my tissue paper off Amazon it came in big sheets and I just cut them down. It cost just a couple of pound and had so many I will probably not even get through it all. :)

      Hi, that's really nice of you to say. A really good idea that a lady suggested, was to either burn down the candle a little bit or cut some of the wax away in the top just enough to accommodate a tea light, that way you only have to burn the tea light and not the actual decorated candle being able to keep it forever as an ornament :)

    an idea would be to burn it down so far and insert a tea light in the middle. then you will always have the candle.

      Hi, thank you for your lovely comment. The printer that I use is HP Deskjet 3630 series. Its not an expensive printer just you average household one and does the job really well. :)

    Might be easier to use double sided tape around the edge in between the two sheets.

    • @andreaosullivan5798
      @andreaosullivan5798  6 років тому +1

      Hi, that would hold the picture to be heated in place the only thing is you have to hold it fairly tight so that the image melts into the candle without creasing. Also if you need to have a little look in between to make sure its all stuck properly you don't really want to have to peel sticky tape off only to see you've missed a bit and have to re-stick.

    I love the idea but would a hair dryer do the same job as a heat gun? Thanks

    • @andreaosullivan5798
      @andreaosullivan5798  7 років тому

      Hi Gerard, thanks for your question, I think using a hair dryer as a heat source would work but I imagine as you would have to hold the hair dryer on the candle for a longer in order for the napkins or the print to sink in, im thinking the candle may melt too much and possibly mishape. I will try this tomorrow and let you know how I got on and that way we'll know for sure.

    • @andreaosullivan5798
      @andreaosullivan5798  7 років тому

      Hello Gerard, just a quick update, I tried the candle with a hair dryer as promised and it didn't work as well in my opinion. It seemed to take way too long and instead of a very thin outside layer slightly melting it warmed the candle up too much inside. Conclusion being you can use a hair dryer but much better results with heat gun. Hope this all makes sense to you and was of some help.

    What type of tissue paper is that? Is that the usual table napkin or can we use a facial tissue for that?

    • @andreaosullivan5798
      @andreaosullivan5798  5 років тому

      Hi, it is just tissue paper the sort you use for gift wrap. If you were to put into Amazon for example gift wrap white tissue paper it should give you lots of choices. This is where I bought mine and it only cost a few pound and had about 50 huge sheets that I simply cut down. Hope this helps :)

    Is grease-proof paper like wax paper?

    • @todaysbeautiful4212
      @todaysbeautiful4212 6 років тому

      It is parchment paper. Wax paper would stick to it.

    • @andreaosullivan5798
      @andreaosullivan5798  6 років тому

      Hi wax paper does have a coating of wax on it so it would stick or leave a residue you need grease proof paper or baking paper or parchment. You basically need something that can be heated in order to hold your picture in place whilst heating. Hope this helps. x

    can i use foil paper instead of grease prof paper?

    • @andreaosullivan5798
      @andreaosullivan5798  6 років тому

      Hi, I'm thinking it would work just to hold the tissue paper im not too sure if it would stick though. I would imagine it would get rather hot so maybe not or if you do be careful when your holding it. Grease proof paper is easy to buy and just as cheap as foil so maybe stick to the grease proof just in case. I'll maybe try it out and let you know for sure :)

    • @andreaosullivan5798
      @andreaosullivan5798  6 років тому +1

      Hiya, I have lit and burned the candles that I have made before and they have always been fine.

    • @Hb02765
      @Hb02765 6 років тому

      We have just burned one and it was actually pretty dangerous. You cannot leave them unattended as they burn quickly and sometimes the flame is quite worrying. I was going to make these as Christmas gifts but I would have to warn people to keep an eye on them. Be careful and test them out first.

    • @andreaosullivan5798
      @andreaosullivan5798  6 років тому +2

      Hi, I would never advise to leave a candle unattended whether they are bought from a shop or otherwise. Perhaps it makes a difference how fast they burn depending on the candle as they are all different, but at the end of the day it is a naked flame and care should always be taken.

    Where do I find these tissue paper in UK ?

    • @andreaosullivan5798
      @andreaosullivan5798  5 років тому

      Hi, you can get the tissue paper from most shops such as hobbycraft, the range, card shops etc, you will also be able to pick it up from supermarkets. It is just like the gift wrapping paper in packs, however, I got mine from Amazon had about 50 large sheets for couple of pound. I just cut them down to smaller pieces, there is enough to last me a very very long time. :)

      Hi, the tissue paper I use is the sort you can use to wrap delicate jewellery items or to decorate a gift in a box for example. If you were to type in the name tissue paper it will give you choices of lots of colours. It is usually slightly slippery on one side. Hope this helps :)

      Hi, I have burned these candles and they have always been fine, however I did have a comment from someone stating that she had tried to burn them and said the flame was quite dangerous. Different type of candles maybe? I also had a comment from a lady and her idea was to burn the candle down so far then insert a tea light in the top that way you always have the decorated candle, which I thought was a great idea.
