As a Seattle native I've been to so many of his games. Such an amazing talent and stand up guy. Too me, he's the best pitcher in M's history by far. I'll always keep my autographed 8x10 of him on my wall.

Such a shame, it sucks to see how we wasted such an incredible talent. Especially because he was so loyal to the city, signing that contract even though we stunk. From a lot of accounts he was a bit of a drinker and never really tried to get better. Like he rode his natural insane talent throughout his career without making sure to stay in shape or always trying to get better. He’ll always be one of my favorite players ever

Throwing that many innings, it was only a matter of time before injuries caught up to him. Unfortunately, they did at a bad time

he didn't give everything. maybe in games he gave it all had. he didn't keep up with body conditioning and training. i know his arm had some mileage cuz he started so young in MLB but still he shouldn't went out the way he did. he got full off all the money he got paid.

I completely disagree with that. He was always a hard worker. Throwing that many innings is gonna take a toll. Just look at Dwight Gooden

My M's Mt. Rushmore is easy: Edgar, Griffey, Ichiro, and Felix. I feel like Felix won't get the credit he deserves in the coming years/decades, but he got us through the longest playout drought in American sports, and it was incredible.

Extremely talented guy who never took fitness seriously. Talent took him extremely long way but when you get past your prime you gotta do all the other things to stay competitive. Frankly it's kind of the career I would have wanted to have - be very good but mostly live a fun and entertaining life with lots of cash. We laud the guys that are maniacally dedicated to their sport but IMO they're less happy.

I had the King on my Fantasy Team for maybe 7-8 years.
I remember I was on the treadmill at the gym and I was watching the King playing the Blue Jays in Sky Dome (or Roger’s Centre).
He was cruising as usual, and then something happened with him on the mound.
He planted his foot wrong or something and it’s like he got rocked after that.
The guy was legitimately never the same.
I swear something happened to him that game and maybe he was trying to compensate for something and ended up causing more problems.
I’m putting it out there because maybe someone out there knows what I’m talking about.

The fact that by 2018 the Mariners managed to field the most talented roster they'd had since the early 2000s, good enough to be sniffing the playoffs, and at the same time the legendary King Felix was precipitously declining as his body was giving out on him, ending in the M's narrowly missing the playoffs at the close of their contention window is a sheer Shakespearean tragedy! Had King Felix just had another couple drops left in the tank to throw a few more quality starts, that's all it would've taken for the playoffs to finally happen. But no, King Felix left nothing in the tank because he laid it all out on the field. He gave his all in the years when it might not have matter much, except for the hope we had because he was there!
King Felix wasn't destined for pennants; he was destined for crowns.

I went to his start after the perfect game and other than the insane NFCC game against the Niners, it was the most incredible atmosphere I’ve ever experienced in person. Also gotta add that he should absolutely have two Cy Young awards and I think he, Greinke and deGrom really helped people see that wins are a pretty lame and shallow stat for pitchers as opposed to much superior peripherals like FIP, WHIP, etc.

    Bro , Felix is A HOF .
There’s no way King Felix doesn’t eventually get in The Hall .
He’d have at lest 250 W’s on almost any other team .
All the L’s by 1 run or only giving up a run to end up taking an L or No Decision thanks to the bullpen
They have to put Felix in .
Thanks to deGrom people stared waking up to W’s & L’s are not the end all be all for SP
Nolan should have at least 2 Cy Young’s and would likely have & least 4 if people actually understood this back in the day .
King Felix was Top 5-7 -11 SP @ for a decade and 11 is the worst
He was still A Top SP in MLB for a decade.
    Elite level for half that

@@MarinerMojoOfficial it’s sad to see Felix was over worked and had his potential wasted. But good to see the mariners doing well now, just wish I could’ve seen them in the playoffs with those three players even if they had to start playing a little money ball so that they could keep them without spending too much money on everyone else and make it to the playoffs while they continue to rebuild. Maybe Felix would still be pitching and he would still be with Seattle doing well if that were the case.

Felix was overused due to being forced to carry a dead franchise. This was outside of his control.
But he did not take care of himself. He didn't stay in shape the way he needed to and didn't rehab properly when he did get hurt. This was within his control and unfortunately, it cost him his career.

Felix has 2 of 3. and there are only 21 pitchers SINCE 1903 THAT HAS PITCHED A PERFECT GANE. He's one of them. He's in the record books. A lot of pitchers would kill to pitch a perfect game. Felix is a winner even without the ring.
