The entire point of this video is that I want Disney to build more thrill rides. This video was purposefully published a few hours before the D23 panel. Many rides were announced, but no thrill coasters. In my opinion everything I said still stands, but here are a few updates. The only coaster confirmed for the US parks was one for Hollywood Studios. The concept art looks like a vekoma family suspended coaster, very similar to Dragon Flier at Dollywood. Which is unlikely to be a thrill ride, let alone one on the level of Velocicoaster. It doesn’t leave the showbuilding in the concept art :( Magic Kingdom was confirmed to get that villains land I mentioned. The land (which probably won’t open for years…maybe even decades) is supposed to have two rides, one of which COULD be a thrill coaster. Hopefully that comes true. Everything else announced for the US parks are dark rides. It’s hard to trust this company after so many canceled projects. We will see how these announcements unfold!
Wow That’s just sad, but I get why Tron may never come to Disneyland in Anaheim The DisneyForward area is awkward for Disneyland (Disneyland Park only) because it’s near New Orleans Square Overall Disney needs more thrills and coasters😢
@themeparknerd643 I agree with the Monsters Inc. coaster being an Inverted Family Coaster but in the concept art for Villains, I spotted a coaster in the background that looked a lot like the proposed dragon coaster at Animal Kingdom. I believe that will be a thrill coaster simply because why have a family coaster with scary theming? Especially at Disney, where GP practically LIVE. Yes, there’s Alton Towers but the only people who travel far to Alton are coaster enthusiasts. As for Alton’s GP, they know what they are getting into since they’ve been there so many times. Disney GP would just be confused.
i agree and even if the argument is made that some kids dont like thrill rides the entire point of a family park is to cater to the ENTIRE family im not saying they need to become cedar point but a couple inverting coasters and intense launch coastets with great themijg like velocicoaster would be incredible and do wonders
The funny thing is that, from the words of Walt Disney himself, Disney was never supposed to be "for kids". It was supposed to be "for EVERYONE". Modern Disney doesn't understand that. Michael Eisner understood that, even if he also made mistakes.
I agree, I remember 9 year old me actually being slightly underwhelmed by WDW as a lot of the rides seemed very sedate, even compared to the Universal family rides. I guess Tron, Guardians, and the new Star Wars rides are a step in the right direction with more dynamic rides.
I grew up with Space Mountain, Splash, Thunder, and Matterhorn. I was always seeking thrills as a kid, I think Disney can lean into that without making a velocicoaster necessarily. Tron was a great answer imo, it’s just a bit too short.
And then at D23 they announced the first suspended coaster at Disney, a villains land with a thrill coaster in the concept art for Disney world. And overseas they're getting an indoor/outdoor spider man coaster in Shanghai and a spiderman vs doc oc drop tower....
I don’t think any of these coasters will be on par with the level of thrill we are talking about. Rock n rollercoaster, without a doubt, is the most forceful coaster they’ve made at the resort, and no other coaster that comes close to that, and the only reason they made that ride was because of Islands of adventure.
@kingbreck4648 actually, those 2 opened the same year. The idea for Rock n roller coaster goes back to around when Tower of Terror and Sunset Boulevard as a whole were being planned out. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just 2 ideas being coincidentally similar
@@rct3isepic the idea of rock n rollercoaster could have been existent way before, but I’m pretty sure if IOA never happened, rock n rollercoaster wouldn’t have been as thrilling.
What would be cool is if one of the Disney parks made a motorbike coaster based off of Luca and they made the ride vehicles look like vespas kids would love that since it still has thrill but not too much, and adults would also like it.
Give us a Hercules roller coaster please. People want Greece in Epcot, and if that ever gets built they’ll definitely put something Hercules in there. A Wreck it Ralph coaster also has potential
Nah I've had enough of IP coasters, It's been a while since they've done an original ride like tower of terror, rnrc, or even the original Disneyland rides like pirates and haunted mansion
The Monsters Inc coaster should be super fun! But for Villains Land, I think they’re almost certainly going with a high thrill coaster as one of the two major attractions. They’ve absolutely seen the strong positive response Velocicoaster has gotten, and a modern high-intensity thrill coaster would make a lot of sense. It would be nicely complimented by the much more family-friendly Cars attractions in Frontierland.
Ok here me out. Epcot should build an Emperor’s New Groove Rollercoaster themed to the one Yzma has in her science lab. They could also build a Luca themed coaster in the Italy section
I've been saying for years that they need to build a multilaunch thrill coaster themed to podracing in each star wars land. Especially because Galaxy's Edge only has TWO RIDES. Edit: lmao should've watched to 3:10 before commenting.
I prefer highly themed story based attractions. So I'd be disappointed if every ride at Universal and Disney from now on was just a Thrill coaster. Still gatta have good themed thrill rides and dark rides going forward
for rockin roller coaster having the longest ride. i think that’s mainly because it just reopened after a long referb. normally it has at most 70 mins. then again for my entire dcp it was closed and those are the wait times i saw on it.
they just announced an indoor suspended coaster in hollywood studios, the warehouse they will build it in looks quite tall, i could see it be a decently thrilling ride
In disney paris they have the hyperspacemountain instead of space mountain. The intensity is similar to Hulk but indoors and it's like you are in a x wing. Maybe they could put something like that in hollywood studios
BROOO A MOANA RIDE WOULD BE SO PERFECT!!! moana 2 is coming out soon and it would have been perfect time if they dropped it while the hype was still huge and then they could make a perfect fitting coaster
Disney will end up building a few more floral fountains and more school cafeteria buildings with benches (Epcot). The lack of imagination from Disney of Kate is astounding. Their execution on dividual rides and attractions are very good, but they just don’t know how to create an immersive land like they used to l. Galaxy’s edge is terrible
Disney should be making rides at a 2 to 1 ratio. For every 2 rides they make for children they should make a larger ride for the teens and adults. I know plenty of teens that still go to disney and who are the ones taking the children. You need thrill rides for those people.
I've been saying for years, I don't like EPCOT just infusing itself with IP, but take the Wonders of Life Pavilion and theme it to Big Hero 6! Baymax coaster.
The Monsters Inc door coaster could be a good one but there’s a lot of potential for more thrill rides, one place that comes to mind is Avengers Campus, that place could use a thrilling roller coaster or 2, that may be the case considering they are expanding it
Disney's response is let's destroy Rivers of America, Frontier Land, Liberty Square. A Hoge Poge of IPs at Animal Kingdom with the Tropical America's replacing Dinoland. Monsters Inc coaster is a plus as long as it doesn't remove Muppets and the only true Star Wars ride with Star Tours. Epcot already ruined Disneyland forward? I don't think Disney knows what it wants to do with it yet.
Hear me out, a speeder bike themed rollercoaster in Galaxy's Edge. You could have it go around the park using the pre-existing themeing and make it like a Hagrid's experience.
I find it confusing that your reasoning a marvel and Star Wars would be family oriented because they’re big IP’s when they’re mostly PG13 while you name loads of ideas here based on IP’S that are kid friendly such as Finding Nemo. Also note that the Vekoma flying coaster doesn’t have a very accommodating seating position which you can get away with at most thrill coaster parks but as you said you want as many people as possible to ride these attractions. (I do really like the idea of a marvel themed Vekoma flying coaster tho, lends itself really well to an iron man thing)
I think Disney has their part of the market, and universal has theirs, I hope they compete because I would love more thrill coasters in Disney, but I doubt it
Idk if you saw but D23 posted a lot of ride updates just after this video was released lol. Will Disney deliver? As a Disney fan it’s sad to say it probably won’t but Theres a good chance
Got news, Busch Gardens want to build 3 coasters by 2026 and one of them is in the back of the park, by the sinkhole. They still want to replace Kumba with a launch coaster
theres a handful of disney thrill rides, compare that to the hundreds of universal rides across the world disney's been done, i don't think they care either
Hollywood Studios is getting an indoor suspended roller coaster themed to “Monsters Inc”. While the upcoming Villains Land in Magic Kingdom, is rumored to end up having a roller coaster. Though, I suspect it will be more akin to Hagrid’s Motorbike (which is actually the most popular attraction at Islands of Adventure) versus the Velosicoaster. Fast, thrilling, crazy, and highly-themed, but does not feature any inversions. Since many people do not enjoy going upside-down, even if they love thrill rides.
why do people always say that disney needs to “respond” to universal and vice versa? can’t they just do what they need to do much like universal? i understand competition but this narrative that theme park fans always drive is kind of weird. even tho they’re two different companies, a lot of the creatives and engineers who work for the respective companies are all part of one large community that meet and share ideas. many go back and forth between the two. i think a lot of theme park fans forget that
@@themeparknerd643 It all just opinions, I see Cosmic Rewind and Tron as recent Thrill Coasters while the Test Track Reimagining and Shanghai Omnicoaster as upcoming Thrill Rides/Coasters. Did you forget about Guardian of the galaxy in Epcot. Also I think VelociCoaster was a response to Tron in Shanghai. Also on Disney Land Hong Kong they have a runaway train type coaster that starts with a fake lift hill and then rolls backwards and then has a switch track and several launches.
