    Just picked up two pairs of these for myself and my partner, they are incredibly comfortable and work much better in my partner’s Kevlar leggings than the standard solid D30 knees she had before. One note on orientation, the D30 website states: “Product orientation depends on user preference, fabric facing outward ensures reduced read-through.”
    So it’s up to the user as to which side faces the body. Having the D30 right next to your skin can get pretty warm in my opinion so I prefer the additional fabric on the “rear” as I’m not concerned with read through.

      If you go on D3O's website, they say you have to use the fabric side facing your skin... It's a matter of preserving the shape of your clothes (frabric side facing outwards) or avoiding having the pattern printed on your skin if you crash (frabic facing your inwords) it's up to you

    Just got them and put them into my rokker rokkertech Jean's, fantastic I never put the normal d30 into Jean's as I found them awkward and always in wrong place. These ghost pads are so light and comfortable and noticeable you really can leave them in and forget about them. I'm really impressed.
    Definatly recomend.

    Great vid! Look, I bought the ghost armour, installed it, and I like them in principle. That said, I’d like to see a review from someone who’s actually taken a fall. I have my doubts that they work. They’re just so thin!

      I really want to see testing comparisons too. I have been so put off with the thin L1 ghost stuff that I'm now using the older 'custard' type pads. Still comfy. No 'read-through'. A bit warmer & bukier but, my confidence levels are way higher. I've had spills with Visco-tec armour and literally walked away; I wear all the armour all the time (knee, hip, elbow, shoulder and back). I wear invisible biker gear like Merlin jackets and chinos with Alpinestars short boots. Custard armour is more noticeable but I know it works.

    My solution for the height adjustment was I used velcro cable tidy and used the velcro sealing pocket to adjust the height

      Nice idea. I actually used the two holes in the protectors and sewed them in place in my pocket. But washing the Jean is quite a struggle as I need to unsew them before and sew them back in afterwards. 🙈 Your solition sounds better. 😄

    Would D3O knee pads be good for working knee pads? I have work pants with kneepad pockets and as I age, that option is becoming more enticing.

      A little late, but I knlw that D3O makes protection for industry, so I bet they have something spesifically for that purpose

    Hi Chris, You state in the video that the D30 armour should be worn orange side to the skin, and that it shows black side to the skin for asthetic reasons. I was just about to buy some from you with velcro to attach to my jeans and I see the velcro is attached to the orange side which would mean you have to have the black side to your skin. Can you explain please before I purchase coz Im now confused.

    Just tried the Ghost knee armour in a new pair of jeans and they’re very flexible HOWEVER, they’ll be next to useless with any kind of direct impact as the independent triangle construction means each shape transfers the full impact to a similarly small area of your knee. (Try giving them a tap with a blunt object) Nice and comfortable but if I’m unfortunate to be sliding down the road I’d wish I’d gone for protection over walk about comfort.

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  4 роки тому +1

      I don't believe this is the case because the energy absorption test isn't based on just one triangle. But if you would prefer the other armour happy to swop it over (and refund the difference). ML

    • @CHOPPERish
      @CHOPPERish 2 роки тому +2

      Actually, I thought so too at the beginning. But I think while if you just fall over and hit one little stone you do have a point; the regular case will be hitting a flat surface (road) and sliding. This rather is like hitting your knee with something flat (like some wood board - which I actually did and while it does hurt it‘s actually a lot less of a pain than I would have expected and quite similar to the other D3O Lev. 1 which I find fascinating - don‘t get me wrong, it still hurts and falling will be hell with either protection 😏😉).
      Plus I think the fewer edges the more likely you rather just slide so the thin armor should help if you were to land on your knee first. At least that‘s my theory. Don‘t want to try it out for sure. 🙈
      But hey, you must feel comfortable and confident with your protective gear, so if you are not, I don‘t want to convince you, it‘s just my few thoughts. 👍

    how do you think this compares with refit seesmart level 1 armour ?

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  4 роки тому +1

      Don’t really know the Revit armour. Looks good, although I don’t think it’s made in the same way, so I suspect it doesn’t get softer with heat in the way the D30 armour does. The Revit armour fails to meet the standard in cold conditions. But then again, the D30 fails in hot conditions. ML

      I ordered the new Ghost armour from Motolegends as soon as I heard about it and it arrived on Saturday. I have the Revit seesmart armour in a few Revit jeans and can say the new D30 Ghost is every bit as comfortable off the bike. It feels a bit thicker perhaps than the Revit but is just as flexible and so you don't notice it. If anything, it feels a little more reassuring when on the bike. The hip armour is a slightly larger shape than the outgoing hip armour supplied with my Rokker jeans and so doesn't fit as flush, it just hangs out the top of the pockets a bit. But again you don't really notice when wearing them, they are much more comfortable and a very worthwhile purchase.

    hi motolegends. Love you detailed and wonderfully eccentric break down of motorcycle gear. I find myself watching 15 minute videos of gear I have no need for at all, haha! Well done, keep on trucking'! Question: do you find the new D3O ghost more safe or comfortable than Rev'it's Seesmart or Dainese Proshape?

    Could MotoLegends consider stocking SAS-TEC TripleFlex CE2 protectors (similar thinness to D30 Ghost, yet Level 2)?

    • @impact0r
      @impact0r 3 роки тому +4

      The actual difference of impact protection between these SAS-TEC Phantoms and D3O Ghost is much less than than CE1/CE2 would imply.
      The CE1 standard requires protector to transmit ≤ 35kN of force. The CE2 requires protector to transmit ≤ 20kN of force.
      *D3O Ghosts transmits 21kN of force - which is just one kN short of CE2.
      *SAS-TEC Phantom transmits 18kN of force - which is close to the highest allowable value of CE2, while being almost 2x thicker than D3O Ghost.
      Source: SAS-TEC and D3O technical spec sheets.

    Great video/review, thank you! We both do have this armor in all our Bike Jeans - also in an older Rokker that had “normal“ D3O before and it is so much better now. These protectors are so comfortable, my Jeans almost look and feel like regular Jeans.
    When we were on the Isle of Man or on the Magic Bine week this year, I was really feeling petty for all those people in their uncomfortable bike wear. Mine just felt like regular clothing. Really great. Thanks!
    But one question: I saw somewhere that there was (or was expected) a D3O Ghost back protector. Is this the case and could you review that, please? I am especially interested in the safety of this. If it would work as good as D3Os regular back protector (safety-wise), it would be revolutionary, I‘d say!
