I came to Canada as a 46 year old college student. Graduated the same time COVID hit. Then they made it super easy with the TR to PR program. Got in on the 40,000 applications as it filled up in one day. Only had to work like 8 hours of work as I simply had to have a job the day I applied. Was PERFECT timing lol! Now me and the whole family have PR will be citizen in couple years.
Good for you! Hoping that we'll have the same luck! :D
Oh wow, what an incredible journey! 🙌 Similar to my journey, my chances of PR had a lot to do with perfect timing as well ☺️ But you definitely positioned yourself there with your own merit and ability to react quickly, job well done love ❤️ it must have been nerve wracking for you but I’m so happy and proud of you 👏 Congratulations love and thank you for sharing your story here!! 🤗🥰
@@rrdancel Thank you! The hardest part after they announced the one time special TR to PR program was getting the English test in time. Because of COVID they cut way back on the English tests and only half the people could attend each testing for space issues. I spent 8 hours or more trying to sign up to get test in time before the opening day of the program. I drove 9 hours to take the test. I thought that was far but at the test I met recent graduates from Toronto area that had driven to Grand Prairie in northern Alberta for the test! But I had positioned myself well having just graduated from a Canadian college, networked enough to get a job quick and by listening to programs such as yours learned about how to apply. I had everything ready the day the TR to PR portal opened up and just submitted it in an hour. The TR to PR program will not occur again like that but I do think older (over 35) people can move to Canada if you put enough careful research and thought into the move. My American family thinks I am kinda crazy but hey now I can live in the USA AND Canada! Good luck to everyone!
The data you presented may not be complete. A better data should illustrate how many applicants are among the different age group vis a vis its results. It might be the case, to begin with there are a lot of applications from the young age groups that's why there's a lot of approved applications vis a vis the older age groups.
Just a thought @rrdancel
Thank you for your comment. I believe percentage is a more accurate use of data when it comes to comparing various topics or groups. In this case, it would be a comparison between different age groups.
I do not agree that the total number of applicants is better usage of data when it comes to comparisons between different age groups. From your example, of more applications from a young age group leads to more approvals. If we follow this logic, then it implies that more applications from the older age group will lead to more approvals. This would be similar to comparing apples and oranges.
Percentage gives us a better illustration between the two groups. As it takes out the factor of large number vs small number of applicants. Once you have a percentage number for both groups, then you are in a better position to make a comparison, analyze the data and draw a conclusion. From this, you are now comparing apples to apples.
Mature student here! Starting a 2-year diploma program in Alberta at age 48. :)
Please how do you structure ur sop
Wow, hands down to you 🙌👏😊 I’m curious po, what PR pathways are you considering and why did you choose Alberta? Thanks in advance love and all the best! ♥️
@@rrdancel I live in Alberta, Lethbridge. College here is great and rent is cheap. Job market is also good. Lethbridge College is a very good school! If your willing to live in smaller town, 100,000 people then this is the place for you. Calgary is about 100 times more fun with events cool stuff to do etc. So it is a trade off. I would say go to school in smaller town like Lethbridge then move to Calgary or Edmonton if you like for work after graduation.
What is your program if i may ask?
50 year old here. By the time I graduate with my 2 year program next year, I'm going to be 52. I just started school a month ago. Good luck to me. :)
Wishing you all the best! Hoping another TR-to-PR pathway comes up again 🙏
@@rrdancel Thank you. Your content here is very helpful. Keep it up.
Wish you all the best !!!
@SashimiMonster - how long did it take to receive your study permit? Which province is your university located?
Study permit was issued at point of entry in Vancouver. It took around less than 1 hour. Nothing was asked except for the passport. Student visa was approved 12 days (including weekends, not 12 working days) after I lodged my application. Location: Thunder Bay, Ontario. Confederation College@@Ava2969ny
I am 34 years old and was able to receive a student visa for myself and a work permit for my wife.
This all thanks to your useful meaningful videos. Thank you so much for all the guidance and information you are providing here, ALL for FREE.
What did you study in college???
How do I convince an immigration officer that I will leave Canada at the end of my studies? while all we want is to stay and settle down
Hi Rachel, thank you for making this video. It’s an eye opening. Additionally with myriads of people comments it’s an inspiring too. Pls provide more videos on PR process after study completion and work permit on the verge of expiry.
I'm 47 and currently studying MBA at UCW, Vancouver, B.C.
Omg! I’ve been meeting a lot of UCW students recently, nice to meet a couple more here haha ♥️😊 how’s your adjustment studying again so far?
I am 37 year old at UCW
@@rrdancel It feels like a college student again.
@marvinsalazar510 - how long did it take for you to receive your study permit? Do you think you will stay and work in B.C. long term?
Hi Rachel. I just wanted to sat thank you for the bottom of my heart l got Mt ppr email on Friday last week. Its the nuggets l got from your vlogs that assisted with me getting a visa approval. Bless your heart
Hi Rachel! I love your vlogs! been following you ever since I decided to study in Canada. Planning to submit application next year. You've been my source of information about Canada. Thank you
Great video, Rachel. As a 39 year old woman, who is contemplating taking this journey, it's been very useful. Reading comments from successful mature students has also been quite inspiring.

You’re so welcome ♥️😊 I’m wishing that for you as well, which PR stream were you looking to qualify for? 😊
I wish you would have uploaded this 2 years ago. I could have planned better. Anyhow whoever is watching this video it is 100% true. So be prepared and plan ahead.
Hey love 🥺💕 I hope you’re doing better, I wish I knew what I know now then 🥹
IRCC will conduct category-based draws based on occupation and French language proficiency. IRCC announced 82 prioritized occupations in 2023. If you work in one of 82 occupations, you will get easy PR, making high CRS score and age less important.
I'm 34's almost 35's my process with the IRCC was fast and I can say smooth, even the approval for the student permit. I even have the visitor visa, but it a situation with mature students, for the working periods, even living with roomies.
How do I convince an immigration officer that I will leave Canada at the end of my studies? while all we want is to stay and settle down
Specifically in and around Vancouver..ty
Hi rachel. How are you? Hope all is well with you there.. I just want to ask if Health Information Management

My dream is to study in Vancouver but my parents are scared to send me to a new place, Can u make a video on How safe is Vancouver especially for international female students... it would be very useful to show our parents n achieve our dreams PLEASE HELP US!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I think StudyLiveExploreCanada channel can help you. As far as I can remember she lives in Vancouver!
Hello Ms. Rachel. I am planning to study abroad and I received a call from UCW and I want to apply for scholarship to lessen the cost. Thank you
I’m an international student getting my degree in management and computer science in the USA and was thinking about applying for express entry after working one year post graduation. I’ll be 30 by the time I apply. Will I face any challenges and will you recommend that option?
You mentioned you’re studying in the USA. Do you have in-Canada study or work experience? ☺️ You may be able to qualify for FSW but it’s a bit more competitive in that pool. Just be mindful, you get more points having a Canadian education and in-Canada work experience 🤗
Hi miss, ano po ba mas magandang school for Graphic Design? Sault or NBCC? Sana po masagot. Thank you! ❤

Will it be hard to switch your field of study? I have a bachelor's degree of elementary education from The Philippines, but would like to study business administration in CA.
In which Providence university will give admission in post graduation (computer/IT)of 1year.im 44yr old
Hi. Can I ask you some question? Can I get some help from you?
I have applied for pgwp and my sin number is about to expire very soon.
I could not find a job yet and I was wondering if it will be okay for me to start working for a new employer with an expired sin number?
(Can the company pay me and report tax even when my sin number is expired by the time they hire me?)
First off great video and great channel! On the data from IRCC of percentage rates of student visa approval per age. I wonder if that is skewed. How many people apply who are over 40 opposed to below 20? These numbers do not paint a clear picture.
Hi love, Oopsies I forgot to put there resource for it but I grabbed the data from here:
www.applyboard.com/blog/applyinsights-study-permit-approval-rate-canada-lower-for-older-applicants#:~:text=The%20older%20the%20applicant%2C%20the,decreased%20with%20age%20as%20well.
They also included footnotes that give better stats of SP refusal rates directly from IRCC 😊 but just for the purposes of driving my point home, I just wanted to show that there is a inverse relationship between age and study permit approval rates ☺️
@@rrdancel Yep and point taken. Thanks and keep up the excellent work! On a sidenote, your tone is so calming that even if you tell people they are about to be homeless, they still won't get stressed lol.
I was Graduated Education in the Philippines and had caregiving course, I want to work in Health field like Nursing aid in Canada
Is Vancouver Canada an expensive city to live in?????
Guys , seems am the eldest of you , am 53 years old , will start Hospitality management in Jan 2024 , so what is my chance to success!!! I feel frustrated 😢

Hello Rachel! May I know if it's possible after I studied in Toronto, i'll use my pgwp in other provinces for example alberta?
I have a question but its not related to your video
How can my spouse come to canada with me as an international student
Yes, it is very much possible for your spouse to come with you to Canada. There are several options and the most common one for spouses of international students are open work permit holders.
@@rrdancel please share a link that I can read about this
I want to study in university of Saskatchewan , please make a video on that
Oooh that’s a little far from where I am! 😅 I’m based in Vancouver ♥️
not risky, when you aim for a "Canada passport"
Can you elaborate?
Student visa doesnt guarantee citizenship
Hi Rachel! .😊 Thanks for info.Thumps to ur vlog!👍😊 Awesome! Can I ask for a shout out?"!! Praying I'll passed all the hurdlles.

I am 28 now. I have done my master in India and applying for master in another program. What’s is my chances to get Visa ?
Let's be realistic. Student loans do not pay your everyday expenses, in other words cover rent and hydro and transportation in many fields . You can be refused but it depends on your abilities and your dedication , 85% on many subjects
