    I retired last year from Amtrak and am very impressed with the Teco Trolley line, all I needed to see! Always loved trains and am really thinking of retiring anyway to Tampa.

    Amazing! that's the first time I see a tram line crossing a train line!

      I thought that vas very unique also. I've seen something similar in Melbourne, Australia, where the tram line crosses the commuter train lines.

      There are also examples of this in Philadelphia and San Francisco, though I think both of those cross freight-only lines.

      @@jg-7780 Hello, friend! San Francisco trams are famous (known) here in Brazil. Perhaps because of Hollywood productions and TV series that show the city. I also remember films from the 80's when it was fashionable to show car chases on the city's ramps. I remember a Dirty Harry (Clint Eastwood) movie well. Here in Brazil it became known as "The Black List". I don't know what the original title is (yes, in Brazil you can't translate the titles literally, as they often have no meaning or marketing impact). Thank you! And thank you for telling me about Philadelphia. I'm still going up that staircase ... but I don't know if I'll have the same breath as Rocky Balboa.

      Thanks! I waited a long time for those Amtrak trains on two separate visits to Tampa! I loved those chickens also! There were signed warning people not to feed the chickens. They certainly were at home in this little city park.

    I found it fascinating that the line uses two wires to avoid having to use "movable" frogs in the wire where the tracks converge or separate. Here in Philadelphia we have six regular trolley car lines and three trackless trolley lines. I have never seen a frog move when a trolley pole passes through it except on the trackless trolley wires where they need to be activated by the driver to prevent the poles from coming off the wire. It seems that it would be a more expensive initial outlay to run an extra wire than to install a frog where needed. Also, someone referred to the Amtrak train crossing the streetcar track and someone mentioned that we have a similar situation here. To be exact, the Route 11 trolley crosses the CSX freight train track in Darby, PA at 6th and Main Sts. There have been times when the train was stopped on the trolley tracks, blocking the trolleys from traveling. You can imagine what a traffic tie-up this causes but some of the trains are very long and some move very slowly. The intersection of the tracks needs to be replaced every once in a while, I suppose due to the weight of all those heavy rail cars (train and trolley) crossing over it on a daily basis. On a final note, the Tampa cars are beautiful and nicely traditional-looking, made by the Gomaco Trolley Company of Ida Grove, Iowa. I hope they take good care of those gems.

      It’s certainly a unique system! A track crossing a freight line seems strange and very inconvenient.

    Hello, how long does this route from the Downtown stop to the Ybor City take? Will be in Tampa this coming weekend and would like to take this route. Will need to go to the Amtrak station after Ybor City which I believe is relatively close by and could take an Uber? Thank you.

    • @Luke_Starkenburg
      @Luke_Starkenburg  2 роки тому +1

      According to google maps, it takes just 15 minutes one way from downtown to Ybor City. Factor in about 15 minutes waiting for a trolley. It felt like it took longer when I was there.

    Good.Make it cheaper and uses electrical for people to go work daily until 1am early 4am and other places and less wait time and it should go everywhere in Tampa or all over Florida.We need also bullet trains 24 hrs running Make better facility for older and disable people to seat and the bus should be less noise and shade, bigger place where people can wait for the bus with lights ,big trash cans and place to charge phones and other cars should stop so people can cross the road. Sign like the school bus
    See Europe has good transport.
