such a sin that these cars are covered by wraps. distorts the view when looking out of the windows. there has to be a way to wrap the car only 1/2 way up. Such a beautiful line. I rode it. Thank you for sharing.

I HATE THAT!!!!! It drives me insane when I see one getting wrapped! These are streetcars, not billboards!

Aha, so you finally decided to film in my home town :) I love the Streetcar, it's a very convenient way of getting around the city, it also especially connects with one of the Hillsborough Community College campuses as well, the best part is that it's free to ride now as well. We're also planning on expanding it pretty soon and getting modern streetcars as well, the city has secured $67 million for the project and I can't wait to see what the future holds for the Streetcar, it may even connect with the future Brightline Tampa extension at some point too.

Its great Tampa has a streetcar route .. wish we had one over here in downtown St. Petersburg . Perfect place for one .

@@strassenbahnfilmguy9306 Yeah, I wish so too. Hey, at least the rubber tire trolleys down in St. Pete are the closest anyone could have to a Streetcar, they're just as pleasant to ride in

@@shanewalters2565 yeah, but aren't those private tourist trolleys like the Old Town Trolley in Boston?

Rode this last summer. Very convenient to park away from downtown (cheaper) and ride to the Florida Aquarium. Especially convenient in the pouring rain! These are modern reproductions of an old design, but still very cool to ride. And, yes, the ride is free!

I believe the TECO streetcar had its biggest month yet last March with over 100k riders! Amazing for a short heritage line in the US.

I love the look of these cars. They are modern but they look like trolleys, with the wheels visible, real trolley poles and thankfully, no accordion attachments. Beautiful!

Yeah but they seem slow, loud and incredibly bumpy. At least they don’t run in mixed traffic.

The red, gold, and dark blue theme on each end is perfect! The sides? Definitely go without those ads.

What a great tourist attraction that is!
If I ever went there, that would be my first stop for sure.

    Charles O. Birney designed well,and when you consider that there are cars,of his design,still operating,and the reproductions,out of Iowa,are still being made,wow! Not bad,for a now,century old effort!! Colorful cars,and nice single track,with passing siding,but with any increase in traffic,it really deserves double track,one can hope!! I was lucky to run a car up in Branford,same type of controller,and air brake,neat!! Thanks, Tim,your usual excellent coverage is appreciated 👍! Thanks 😊 🙏 👍 😀 🙌 🙂 😊 🙏 👍 😀 🙌!

Streetcars 428, 430, 432, and 434 were all refurbished by their manufacturer (Gomaco) in Iowa. Streetcar 429 struck a charter bus in February 2020 and was damaged beyond repair.

Thanks Timothy for an extremely interesting video. The pseudo-vintage streetcars look authentic INSIDE. But the external appearance, with the vehicle covered i all-over 'contravision' advertising, is totally unauthentic and VERY UGLY.

I really hate the disgusting adfitti (advertisement graffiti) that're plastered all over these trolleys. They indicate that the local transit authority has no pride in their historic tram line. But I do like the red, gold, and navy blue theme presented on the front and back of each of some of the streetcars and if they could continue it along the sides, that'll make for a unique and eye-pleasing livery.

At one point, one of the streetcars had a wrap on it that matched the color of its roof.

For a change, a "progressive" American streetcar system where trams don't have to operate with, and get slowed down by, vehicular traffic.

It was basically built to light rail standards to be used as a transit system and tourist attraction with expansion to other parts of Tampa. Modern cars can be used on this system when acquired.
