Some of the McCaffrey books should be read in order, like Moreta's storyline, but you should start with the YA Harper Hall trilogy (Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, Dragondrums) as a taste of the books. They are short, and you will know if you want to read more in the universe. There are more than 20 books in the Pern series, and Anne McCaffrey's son is also continuing, so be aware of the tie investment.

You can do it! I made going through my large library my main project this year, and even my reading is planned around it. I am even going to put up my own Little Free Library to motivate my unhauling and keep me at it in the future. I am being ruthless. I have to remind myself that the books are still out there for me to read when I want. Life is too short to read books out of duty. It's been fun sharing books with friends. And I do feel so virtuous as I do this. It's freeing to look at purged shelves as I go through one shelf at a time.
