    Oh just another insanely masterful performance from arguably, the greatest (certainly most versatile) female vocalist the world has ever known.

    Thanks SO MUCH for this hidden jem from “Color Me Barbra”! This is a difficult song to sing with the amount of words and chord changes, but with the sheer power and strength of those lungs and voice control…she soars!,…you can tell when she briefly turns her head to catch a breathe…she was ready for it to be over!! I’ve never seen her do that and I have everything she’s “put together”, if you will! We are so fortunate to have experienced this talent in our lifetime!!

    Live vocal, live on-set orchestra, live ( very enthusiastic audience ) and great photography. I don’t know how it could be better. Barbra at her early peak. Stunning.

    Barbra has such an outanding voice, and she doesn't have to strain to hit all those notes. Check out her signing "On a Clear Day." It was written by Burton Lane, who is credited for discovering Judy Garland.

    Thank you! Barbra has so many great songs, but this is one of my all-time favorites. I love to listen to it in early Spring. All that power is like an awakening, breaking through the winter. This performance is all the more remarkable because the song and Barbra are so honest and brave and defiant - a few years before the women's movement really kicked in! Xoxo

    'Where Am I Going?' was written by Dorothy Fields and Cy Coleman for the musical "Sweet Charity" in which Gwen Verdon originally sang the song in 1965.
    The first released recording of the song was by Mimi Hines in January 1966. Barbra Streisand had the second released recording of the song also in January 1966.
    Shirley MacLaine sang the song in the movie version of "Sweet Charity" in 1969. If you watch the movie, you'll see how heartbreaking this song is.

    From the film and Broadway charity musical Sweet Charity. Usually sung slower, check out the original Broadway version by Gwen Verdon and the film soundtrack version by Shirley MacLaine. Very moving.

    Love your Barbra reactions. She is like nobody else. Can you react to her studio version of the Bill Withers classic song called Grandma's Hands. It was recorded in 1974 for her Butterfly album. She was very experimental in the 1970's with her music

    • @eterneh489

      Grandma's Hands is pretty cool. Produced by her then boyfriend Jon Peters.

    Bonsoir. It’s always with great pleasure that I follow your musical reactions. I like your approach, which is always relevant and sensitive. Maybe one day you could share with us your discovery of Jason Gould, the talented son of Barbra Streisand who, from my point of view, has a very similar approach to singing to his mother (as we say here in France "Cats don't make dogs"). In his album Dangerous Man, produced by Quincy Jones, I particularly like his interpretation of The Pawnbroker.

      Thanks so much for the kind words.
      I knew she had a son with Elliot Gould. I heard he acted, but had no idea he sang as well.

    I wasn’t crazy about that performance the music was too loud imo I couldn’t hear words in parts. She’s a force but I didn’t care for that. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Barbra was a phenomenal singer from her late teens, and throughout the 60s and 70s. When she got into politics and couldn't shut her mouth, she became obnoxious. Damn shame.

    • @donnamentrasti2695
      @donnamentrasti2695 16 годин тому +1

      Only obnoxious to you because you don't agree with her. I and many others do... so not obnoxious to us. See how that works?

    • @sharkbjs

      Barbra's been political from the very beginning of her career singing for Democrats since 1963. I love her point of view. Too bad you can separate the two. Damn shame.

    • @eterneh489
      @eterneh489 14 годин тому +1

      You are entitled to your point of view for sure. However, Barbra has been consistently into politics since she began so it is not new. People have said that "I wish she would just shut up and sing". She is also an engaged citizen and cares passionately about what she does, puts her money where her mouth is, and has contributed millions of dollars to help women's heart health and many other worthy causes. She is a package deal that includes all of her. Even if you find parts of her obnoxious, that does not mean that those should go away. Viva Freedom of Expression. Take care.
