UPDATE: Brighton no longer requires parking reservations Monday through Thursday and they release parking spots online each day for the following day. I think the parking system is a LOT better now.
Major problem I have with Brighton is their instagram story. Almost every single story they put up is out of bounds riding. Somewhat tricks people into thinking its actually apart of the resort.
the thing about brighton is that, out of bounds is part of the resort, everyone there cuts the rope because there’s good, but (sketchier) spots. if your a good rider brighton is awesome.
@@snow_2239 Yes great riding out of bounds there for sure especially with the lift access, but I think its wrong to advertise it as your own mountain. Thats like Alta or Snowbird advertising suicide chute across the road
I’m leaning towards Utah for a trip out west with my 9 yr old son who is a beginner, and I’m advanced pushing towards expert. So far I’ve narrowed it down to Brighton, Solitude and Snowbird. It seems like Brighton may be the winner for my situation. Thanks for sharing!!🙏🏾
No way, that Alta fact is crazy lol! The gates at the top of great western are so fire! Snake has dope terrain too! Tough call between Soli and Brighton to me! Fun resort
Excellent review of my home resort, B-Town! Bored Progression Dan does a great breakdown of what to expect on this beautiful area of the Wasatch. VO’s were invented on Great Western in 2004 so it’s definitely a cool place for me.
It's my fav resort in Utah. The vibe is the best. From the mountain, to the park, to the brown bag room. Only Oregon resorts surpass the vibe for snowboarding , imo.
Yeah, and half the parking lot attendants are baked as hell too. The parking experience is awful and they didn't even bother clearing it half the year last year, with compacted ice, etc. This remains one of my biggest pet peeves at Brighton.
Totally agree with your vibe score. I love the welcoming nature. Skiers and riders get to co-exist without the prejudice that you can find at other UT resorts. The weekend parking reservations have been a nightmare this year. I was only able to snag 3 Sundays the whole season, but Monday - Thursday have been pretty chill. Good review, but with the parking, I would have only given 4.5 stars. Still, it's my favorite resort in Utah. Thx for all the work!
@@BoredProgression Really appreciate you taking the time to reply. Had an absolute blast at Brighton on Thursday (3/6/24) with those stealth 7 inches. This "Honest Review" series is totally money and I look forward to what you do in the future. Can't wait for your wrap up of all the resorts, and I am very interested in your Snowbird review. Stay safe and have a blast out there brother!
Ive been up there several times in the past, but with the changes how are the crowds on a average Friday. And on a average friday how is the traffic up and down. Not sure to drive or the bus. I have done both in the past.
This season the crowds have not been that bad to Villiage, but Canyons is always a little faster and less crowded.Traffic is fine if you get there before 8:30
They are both amazing but very different. Bird has steeper, more challenging terrain but more aggressive, less chill vibes. Brighton has a skatepark vibe that’s very unique with some amazing terrain but maybe less intimidating. I’m gonna drop the full bird review this November.
The new Crest lift at Bright is terrible. Try waiting in a long line for it. You have to wait sideways on a hill. People were sliding into each other and falling. It slowed everything down. The resort was only allowing 3 people on each chair last weekend. They were also leaving every 4 chairs empty. What was going on?! I think the 4 seater loaded faster and had better line management. We did everything we could to avoid this chair lift. So disappointing. Also parking, don't get me started. It is harder and harder to have a fun day there.
I really do miss the line cue being split on both sides. Parking isn’t actually that bad now that they removed weekday reservations and if you try to get a spot the day before Friday Saturday or Sunday I’ve been successful more often than expected.
The queue is TERRIBLE and I hope they redesign this in the offseason this summer. Lifties are usually baked too and not paying attention, which is a safety issue.
I'm going to be visiting Salt Lake City(staying in Cottonwood Heights) for a month, possible extended to two starting Dec 29th 2023. I want to learn to snowboard and would like to know which resort ya'll recommend for a beginner? Also, any recommendations on lessons? Also transportation, I have been living in the Caribbean and haven't even seen snow in 5 years let alone driven in it. Zero chance I'm driving anywhere so if you need a carpooler i'm happy to contribute $$$.
@@BoredProgression I missed the Ikon pass, 😞I didn't realize the cutoff date was Dec 14th. Looks like a Solitude season pass is the best I can do? Are there any other passes available that would open other resorts in the area?
Excellent review! Would just give them a 1.0 for parking. This new parking system is terrible. Makes it impossible to plan a visit to Brighton if you're driving in from out of town for early week riding.
Just have better ski bus service for both big and little. There's going to be hour plus waits for that gondola on little. Have both the 972/994 stop at the park and rides entering the canyon only. No need to duplicate 72/94 routes. Won't solve avalanches or accidents in the canyon, but whatever.
Just wondering why you gave length of season a 9 for brighton but a 8 for solitude? Solitude opened earlier and probably later? Edit**. This review is a little biased, Brighton is great but not that good.
Brighton has bonezone every season which is open earlier than solitude and Brighton had milly open daily last season till memorial day. That was a couple more weeks than Solitude.
Gotcha, just for the bonezone that is not really opening since you gotta walk up. Plus it was pretty tiny. Solitude opened up a lift a week earlier than brighton which is more considered opening and also had some rails, jumps, and boxes to hit. So that's more of an opening, in my opinion at least. Plus solitude did open until late May as well with more than one lift 😀.
I think Ikon has completely ruined Utahs ski industry. I don't think ikon is a bad idea or blame people for buying it. But it overcrowds every resort. Makes season passes feel useless when they practically give no benefits for the same price as an ikon pass.
Same here. I have bought a season pass for me and my kids for the last 6 years. Last year broke me, I honestly didn’t have fun at all. We all have an epic pass also, and found it so much easier and more enjoyable to get in and out of Park City. I vowed to only go to Brighton mid week, and it was still crowded. This year we’re probably just going to get a couple of day passes.
That’s what one website says and people seem to be running with it, but that doesn’t make a lot of sense for an investment. I’m skeptical of that statistic on the old quad. It might be the old chair’s top speed vs what they normally ran it at. But something doesn’t add up with that.
UPDATE: Brighton no longer requires parking reservations Monday through Thursday and they release parking spots online each day for the following day. I think the parking system is a LOT better now.
This guy is a TRANSPLANT. NEVER GOING TO BE A LOCAL!
Love that you are highlighting the importance of Avi training and awareness for backcountry access. Great job!
Thanks. Could save a life.

I can’t argue with that. 😂

Happy to help! Thanks for watching. Hope you have an awesome trip!
Great review Dan, keep them coming and I really enjoyed learning about the history as well.
Thanks, will do! Glad you enjoyed it. I did too. Haha.
Shocker! I though only milo employees and ikon tourists still rode Brighton. Solid review especially the ending, sizing up the locals 😂😂
Lol.

Isn't that wild? Their dirty little secret. Yeah, just gotta do the Solbright pass!
@@BoredProgression for reals, almost makes you think there’s something a little fishy about it 🎣

There should be a permanent plaque or sculpture of your dropped glove near one of the lift towers on GW.
Good stuff dude
Thanks man!!
Spot on review! God I hope they fix this parking crap though.
Thanks. Yeah it didn’t get off to a great start.
How do you fix it though? There are a limited number of parking spaces and very high demand for those spaces.
I wish they would maintain their parks at night, icey bombholes form at the end of features that can be very sketchy to ride.
No bueno. Most resorts don’t pay park crews enough to keep that from happening. PC/vail does $20/hour starting though so idk the excuse 🤣
Haven’t watched yet but know it’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hahaha. 🤔 hmmm. Is it? 😂

Guess I gotta get to Oregon on of these days!
You get a contact high just walking through the parking lot! Awesome stoners mountain.
Hahaha

it looks like something out of a movie. You should add chapters your video. great review, vibe section is totally unique and interesting.
Thanks! The last couple reviews automatically added chapters but this one didn't for some reason. Thanks for the heads up and feedback!
What’s your take on Snowbird vs Brighton? I’m looking at coming to SLC for the 2024-2025 season and debating which pass to get

Agreed. Snowbird…bigger, steeper, more commercial. Brighton is cozy. Both are fun though.

Yewww looking forward to rip Brighton, see how it compares to the west coast giants like Mammoth
It’s definitely not as big but I think a similar vibe
Mammoth sucks, no offense.
when is the snowbird honest review coming out
This season before the holidays!

I’d recommend Solitude. Definitely get an instructor. Ask for a certified one. Take Canyons transportation or the ski bus. Hope that helps!
@@BoredProgression I missed the Ikon pass, 😞I didn't realize the cutoff date was Dec 14th. Looks like a Solitude season pass is the best I can do? Are there any other passes available that would open other resorts in the area?
Thinking about going the first week of April but it’s also spring break for Utah schools I believe. Do you know if the resort will be crowded?
First week of April shouldn’t be too bad. Only pass holders are riding by then & not many out of towners.
Excellent review! Would just give them a 1.0 for parking. This new parking system is terrible. Makes it impossible to plan a visit to Brighton if you're driving in from out of town for early week riding.
I agree, it has not been ideal to say the least.
I honestly would be more down for a gondola in big cottonwood than in little, those s curves can get gnarly sometimes...
It's weird how it's not talked about for BCC.
I think the main problem is how long it is. I can't even imagine how much it would cost
Just have better ski bus service for both big and little. There's going to be hour plus waits for that gondola on little. Have both the 972/994 stop at the park and rides entering the canyon only. No need to duplicate 72/94 routes. Won't solve avalanches or accidents in the canyon, but whatever.
There is only 1 S curve

I'm from Canada, have you ever Hit up Silverstar resort, Revelstoke, Big White, Whistler/Blackcomb up here?
I have not, unfortunately. Bucket list wish to get up there though! Been to Vancouver once (which was rad) but that’s the closest I’ve been.
I think Ikon has completely ruined Utahs ski industry. I don't think ikon is a bad idea or blame people for buying it. But it overcrowds every resort. Makes season passes feel useless when they practically give no benefits for the same price as an ikon pass.
You're not wrong. If you wanna ride places like Brighton more than 5-7 days it's worth getting a season pass tho.
Crowds and travel time was the main reason I didn’t get a pass there this year.

It’s a bummer for sure.
Alta is the worst resort to snowboard at
It’s definitely not the best one lol.
Stoners mountain! Well at least it’s not the crack head mountain.
Hahaha
Woodward park city has night riding till 7pm 7 days a week. So Brighton isn’t the “only resort” with night riding.
I said “only resort in the Cottonwoods with night riding” Woodward isn’t in the Cottonwoods.
The old crest chair had a 2800/hr capacity, so the new chair is actually a downgrade...
That’s what one website says and people seem to be running with it, but that doesn’t make a lot of sense for an investment. I’m skeptical of that statistic on the old quad. It might be the old chair’s top speed vs what they normally ran it at. But something doesn’t add up with that.
Brighton --> "Steep to flat"
🤣
“Local” …aren’t you from the east coast?
Been living here for 6 years, so how long does it take to become a local? I’m not visiting when I ride here, so what do you call that?
I’ve been here 8… some say it takes 10 years, other die hards say 20 lol
gatekeep brighton
You all can have it, it's overhyped compared to the hidden gems.. . There's much better resorts in Utah.
Ok
You're a local? lol
Not born & raised but been in SL for over 6 years. So yes. I'd call that a local.
