It had a custom installed rebuilt 390 Cubic Inch Ford Engine, Electric Fuel Pump, 4 Barrel Holly Carburetor, 4 Speed Transmission, American Mag 5 Spoke Wheels, Goodyear Polyglass Tires, Black Side Exhaust Pipes, Painted White with Black Interior.
My folks moved us to Newark when I was a kid, ..only 4 miles from Fremont drag strip. 😃 Thru the magic of coincidence, I was a Jr. in High School in 1971 when I bought my first car. 1964 Olds 442 ..red w/4spd and America mags. ET 15.10 at Fremont.. I'm still kicking myself for selling the car in 1973. 😑

Beautiful work guys; the paint is old school cool and the matching painted steelies with poverty caps complete the sleeper look. It screams quality and tasteful design. Congrats!
beautiful brought back memories of my 1961 Ford galaxie 2 dr hard top my dad bought brand new drove it 5 years and handed down to me . originally aqua marine exterior 352 2 br 2 sp auto. I rebuilt the complete car to a 390 /401 hp, 4 spd, 410 gear ,I was able to beat the 427 + . in Detroit we raced every night , woodward, telegraph rd .
Thanks, great Car.. my 61 Convertible was a junker:: see my comments, Some good Factory options, in these, etc. **Anyways, it did lead me to,early buy of 1966 GALAXIE 500 XL/4 speed /352/4 BBL dual Exhaust// BJRGANDY , BLACK interiors ( likemJAY LENOS , EXC NOT Liter/Disc Brakes)….I had to built that 66 up ; first thing was *METALLIC BRAKES/ tires ( has a Gulf Service Station close To Purdue with expert Mechanic )…..
Ps:: I remembered the 390/ tripower @some 401 HP, AND MAYBE an F CODE TOO?. Had a memory of 61 , with 352 / 4 BBL AND HIGH OUTPUT..? Anyways, FORDS were hot in my High School Days.
Zach is a true car enthusiast! The work that he and Scott did on this car is so subtle with the mods but in all the right places. The color is amazing with all that brightwork. Great pick, Kevin! I'm glad to see Zach and Scott getting some accolades for a car that was built mostly in his home garage. He's probably the hardest working guy in the car industry who isn't really "in" the industry!

@@garyhull5617 NOT in 1961, Chevy damn sure didn't, not even in sales. The stats/facts don't lie. FACT: 1961, Ford won the auto manufacturer championship. If Chevrolet was so great, why did Dyno Don Nicholson switch from Chevy to Ford and won more races than he ever did with Chevy?
@@garyhull5617 I've owned many different brand vehicles over the years. I've also owned a classic/vintage vehicle successful restoration business for over 35 years. I simply prefer Fords over any others. I currently own 12 fully restored classic/vintage high-performance Fords. In all my NHRA drag racing seasons, I never lost to a POS Chevturd. Look at my profile photo. That car set 3 NHRA records and won 3 class championships. That car and my '69 Boss 302 Mustang, both won at this past June NE Nationals in NH. That stock '69 Boss 302 Mustang never lost to a stock '67-'69 Camaro Z/28 either.
As a lifel Chevy guy since mid 50s, I really like this Ford. Great idea on seat covers!!! Personally, I'd have beefed this engine to the 3 2's and 401hp version.
LS swaps have their place - in 4 cylinder cars. In a classic ‘time machine’ like this, spend the money: a Shelby aluminium FE block stroker & deck it out in the factory colour & accessories; total sleeper with a ton of power.

Great look at. 61 Ford!, The 1961’s are really nice & a lot of variety… Anyways, I did buy a 1961 Ford CONVERTIBLE(RED, WHITE TOP, /352/ automatic, in 1965 ….Really good looking **when bought):****it had been cosmetic DETAILED/rust / panels & painted approx early 1961-2?.… Anyways, I even put the “ new” RADIAL TIRES ( FIRESTONE ?, forgotten for positive) on , as drove a lot of miles Over Indiana. Interestingly, we heard about thes 390/3X2!, and 352 HIPO;;* could not find one ,in WARSAW / Columbia City m Areas, Northern Indiana .

I have a '61 SUNliner (the convertible) and before I clicked on this video, I could tell the aluminum bezels and grille were chromed. Which is a funny thing, because today I was looking at my 60+ year-old anodized aluminum and thinking about how it would look chromed. My car is also a 63k mile, completely original survivor and I was debating whether or not to chrome the aluminum. This video just confirmed for me, I think I should blow some coin at the plating shop.
I'm currently completing a full restoration on a black '61 Starliner that has a red/white interior. 390 tri-power engine with B/W 4 speed transmission, 3:70 rear gears and Detroit Locker posi unit. 15x7 alloy slot wheels.
It's possible to add one to this car, guess they wanted to keep it stock. I think this car has the 3 speed column shift which means it's probably an early 61 model. Mid year a 4 speed floor shift became available.
@@briansearles4473 the hi po 390 from ‘61 is a way different engine than a stock 300 horse 390. Hi po’s had 375 horse with a Holley 4 barrel and 401 with Tri power
Car guy, no matter what the brand I like to see manufacturer brand parts staying within that label no matter what the intent. What a beautiful vehicle better than factory. The painted Rims with the Dog dish caps and 3 on the column with the big V8... I'd take it with the straight 6 .... it's now fast you get there but how.... and the bench seat... one word... Porm
I am glad they didn't put a LS engine into that car, what up lately that Fairlane with the LS V8 is the second Ford I seen, the other was on Haggerty and it was a Falcon with a LS in it, Ford does make great modern engines too , like the coyote 5.0L. LS in a Ford not good
A very beautiful survivor, and a Ford you don't see every day. To have put an LS into it, would have defeated the purpose and really ruined the project.
American car manufacturers are you freaking kidding me if it's not a Mustang or a Camaro which I hate now anyway or a Lincoln then it is an ugly pile of junk look at these cars and the style soon we won't even be able to drive them because there won't be any gas maybe who knows absolutely beautiful‼️®™️

A beauty, ‘61’s are my favorite full body Ford. Just wish it had the hi po 390 Tri Power with 401 horse.
