also funfact, remember when lust's last words were something like she wishes to see mustang's eyes be in agony? yeah... his eyes are the sight of the country, the sight of the future- of what is about to become in this country. and yet, he didnt lose all of his drive for the future- he has his hawkeye (riza) to be next to him
Honestly, every time you comment on the RoyxRiza dynamic I just melt, it makes me remember how much I loved them together when the show first came out.
'If he loses his fingers he can't put a ring on them' is both so tragic and precious to hear.
Scar vs Bradley. The most fitting battle and the perfect way to Complete Scar’s Journey. In the beginning, he was a man Consumed by his Wrath, but as the series went on slowly he began to overcome him Wrath. Now at the end of the Journey, he has but one final fight; a Fight with the Embodiment of Wrath itself.
I like how all the Gates of Truth look different. You can clearly see Mustang's fire transmutation symbols on his door. Edward and Alphonse's symbols are more difficult to place. I know both are Trees of Life and have something to do with ancient philosophy/religion. Which of course fits with Truth also being God.
23:42 The soundtrack "violoncello's lament" gets me every time. It's so beautiful and fitting for this scene.
It's so interesting that both Al and May had to make the same decision in this episode, putting what they want on the back burner for the sake of others.
I think the reason we didn’t see roys full experience is because that was the full experience. Truth teaches you a lesson because of the choice you made but mustang didn’t do anything wrong so truth doesn’t have a lesson for him

Mustang losing his eyesight was something I never saw coming, my sister and I dropped our jaws when we realized it
Lust was talking about looking forward to the day Roy's eyes would be wide with agony when she died
truth was actually way gentler with mustang than he is with everyone else. everyone else had body parts bloodily ripped from them, mustang just lost his sight, not his eyes. the reason is likely because mustang didn't want to enter the gate but was forced in anyway, so truth played by the rules, but left a loophole
you could be right. but personally I'd rather live with a missing limb or 2 than lost my sight
Gentler is a bit of an overkill here because losing your eye sight might not be as brutal as losing a body part its still something that you cant fix unlike Ed who in my opinion was the luckiest because he only lost his hand and that was replaceable in a way. So if we're being practical roy lost the most.
@@lucario1382 yeah i agree but i guess oc means something like that roy didn't have to go through what the other alchemist like izumi , al and the blind alchemist(forgot his name) went through in ova 1 he got his eyeballs ripped out leaving two big scars on his face .And it can also be argued that ed got his arm AND HIS BROTHER taken from him which would be a bigger price than roy🤔if that makes sense btw i don't completely know how the human transmutation actually works.
@@lucario1382 Considering that most who attempt human transmutation die horrible deaths, anyone who survives is lucky.
I agree! Since pride forced mustang through the gate pride paid the Lion's share of the price of admission. (Severely weakening his body) well Roy lost vision without losing his eyes.

I love how the ending feels like a video game, where your party ends up facing the final boss of the game :D

The soundtrack would identify who's about to show up such as the ceiling scene. If you analyze last opening, Roy is blind there.
As brief as it is, I really enjoyed seeing Bradley and Selim working together as their true selves (Wrath and Pride) instead of having to put up the father/son persona that we've seen all the other times they were together in the series. It does kind of make you wonder how the two of them are like in private...
It is kind of funny to think that were All just selfish enough to take his body back and stay in the portal, Father's whole plan would be fucked

My interpretation is that Mustang was blinded cause even tho he didn't open the portal on purpose, when he got there he still had his eyes open, I wonder if he had kept his eyes closed and didn't attempt to see the Truth at all, if anything would have been taken from him, Cause keeping his eyes open is the only thing he had any agency in in the situation.
I always thought it was odd how the homunculi wouldn't / couldn't use alchemy, even though Father of course does. I never really figured out what the reasoning there was, but it's clear that the forced transmutation damaged Pride considerably.
My assumption is that Father can use it because he’s his own entity while the homunculi were created using parts of him.
@@kugelblitzkrieg isn't that only a hard rule in the 2003 series ? i thought these versions of them do use alchemy to regenerate/use their abilities but they just don't _know_ how to use it in more general senses or something idk maybe that doesn't make sense

@@Envy_May *(minor spoilers ahead)* It’s never really said afaik, however none of the homunculi outside of Father have ever been shown to have portals in the 2009 anime, and they are frequently described as “parts of Father.” This leads me to believe that they don’t have their own portals and therefore cannot do alchemy, since you need a portal to be able to use alchemy.

Ahh it took my 4 days to be here, I really liked your reactions, it was great that I almost watch it one go, your thoughts, discussion and analizing are so goid to watch, and intuition in anime trope, but yeah a lot newer anime looked up to FMA so yeah... I often also see typical things that are in animes but it newer bad thing.

Hey man, I've been waiting for you to upload again, just binged a lot of your videos and was wondering what CS team you played for (you mentioned in I think a Haikyuu episode that you were an igl in a team you started) and what your in game name was and if there's any games uploaded on UA-cam
I wasn’t a big shot on anything haha. Formed my own squad with my own team name, and we played in ESEA Open and actually qualified for Intermediate league, but we disbanded before we could end up playing. Think my in-game was Cast still! Sadly, no matches anywhere on UA-cam to my knowledge. But still, I do play some CS/Val on my stream at times. :)

Honestly, the only real plot hole I can think of in this mange and anime is why the hell they made human transmutation illegal. Yes, there is the thing with "no human army", but we know that human transmutation doesn't really work, and the creation of the army was also not really human transmutation or they had their fifth sacrifice from the one that created them. By making them that illegal, they just put themselves in a bind of not having enough sacrifices.
I thought it was tabboo, not illegal? No one was arrested for doing it.
@@CastSenpai I am pretty sure that it is forbidden in the idea of illegal. Because of that, they made up a cover up story for Ad and Al that they were injured during a conflict.
Human transmutation only doesn't work when you try to bring someone who is dead back to life, as they don't "exist" anymore. If you just want to make a human shape entity and link soul to it it would not make anyone a sacrifice, which is likely the way people prefer to do as it doesn't ruin your life.
On top of that, the way that open the door of truth is a taboo for alchemists already. Even if you make it legal, they won't do it easily and they may come to the idea that death is permanent. Once they know death is permanent as it is a research that will be shared among alchemists. Once that happened, no one will try bring someone back to life and there will be no new sacrifices.
By making it illegal, even if they do it, they can't share what they see with others easily and be very unlikely to come to that idea. They will all think "I messed up but it is possible"
With that in mind, making people capable to open the door but not able to figure out they are doing the impossible is father's best interest.
Why would they want a bunch of simple humans finding out the truth? Keeping it forbidden limits their greater opposition
