If you want to make your training effective and engaging, it’s essential to create e-learning that keeps the learner active and gives them relevant problems to solve.
Relevant activities are the key to making sure learners pay attention and figure out your content for themselves. Plus, it makes your training stickier and your life easier.
In this video, I’ll show you a method to turn any learning objective into a series of engaging challenges.

Great video! I'm an assistant professor teaching engineering science - turned instructional designer, and I fully agree with the concept of the active learning string! It's also the best way to teach students solve engineering problems.
It's awesome to see this being talked about in elearning. And yes, Map It by Cathy Moore was my crash course to Instructional Design back when I first started ID more than 3 years ago.
    Looking forward to more videos!

It's funny that this is called "gamification". I'd call it "good teaching"! This video is rock solid advice.

Please do make the whole video on user testing, Marie-Jo!

    Excellent.
Here's the main question I have: Can I do this specifically within a non-gamified LMS such as Thinkific or Podia without having to buy a bunch of add-ons or plug-ins? In other words, can this strategy be leveraged without a learning environment specifically designed for gamification?

      Thanks for the question!
You absolutely don’t need a “gamified” LMS in order to gamify. In fact, most gamified platforms like LMSes can only use “one size fits all” gamification like points badges and leaderboards, and that’s really not the most effective type of gamification.
IMO, you do however need a program that lets you give the user some choices and lets you show them the consequences of those actions (at a minimum). That’s why I think tools like Storyline and Captivate do this better than, say, a video-based course (where the user has no choices).
Personally, I have chosen Thinkific for my course platform… not because it is gamified (because it’s not), but because it allows me to host training games that I make with Storyline. It's important for participants to be able to "play" what I'm talking about in the course.
      I hope this answers it.

I agree with Marie-Jo. You need interactivity. Learner needs to be active.

My comment seems to have been removed? Maybe I didn't communicate well. All I meant to say is that these strategies are good teaching!!

      I'm sorry that happened.
I didn't see or remove any comment myself, and I don't see any record of UA-cam doing it on this channel either. Not sure what happened there, but thanks for the comment! 😊😊
