Jon, super thumbs up. Gonna try this mod. I really appreciate your channel for segments like this. I’m not an off-roader these days and take capabilities over looks. You bring a little bit of everything which keeps your channel interesting. Thanks!
Great upgrade! I own a 2014 Tundra (bought new) and within a year or ownership I did a similar upgrade, I was amazed at the difference in the sound quality for not a lot of money. It mystifies me that Toyota still uses such marginal drivers and amplifiers on their so called "premium" JBL systems,. When you take out the factory speakers and amp and compare the build quality to aftermarket you realize that paying extra for the premium system is not worth it.
I installed mine after watching your video. The sound improvement was definitely noticeable. I recorded db meter before and after at volume level 20 and 30 and the sound quality was improved across the entire broadband

Hi John, I just picked up my new Tacoma a week ago, and I saw this video on the plug and play amp you did in the Tundra. I have the JBL audio on my Tacoma, but it doesn’t sound near as good as the JBL I had in my 2022 Tacoma. I have the TRD Off-Road upgrade package on my Tacoma but haven’t found an amp in it anywhere. How watts was the best sonic amp you put in the Tundra, and would you be able to use that on the Tacoma with the JBL
I just picked up a 24 sequoia and very disappointed in the JBL factory system, coming from mark levinson in my lexus. I’m going to give this a try. Great video!!
Just what I was looking for. I don't mind the sound system in my Tundra, but it was a little quiet. I find myself maxing out the volume a little too often. I don't care if it increases the sound quality, but I just want a little extra volume.
Hey, did you install this and did it improve the volume? I have the same problem. Don’t care much about sound quality but volume is always to the max when driving with all the windows down so I want more volume
Followed your video and install was easy. Thank you! However, I do notice the stereo is louder now but my subwoofer sounds not as dominant. Anyway to get the subwoofer to hit harder?
@@TRDJon yeh the bass is turned all the way up. I can hear the sub. It just didn’t get any more dominant for sure. I was hoping for more of a boost in overall bass and sound and it was very minimal besides volume.
