    Thank you for that really helpful video
    Is there a website for informations about license etc? And are there some good lakes around reykjavik?

      Glad you liked the video :) You can fish the harbours around Iceland without a license but the fresh water fishing is private and you need a license for that. There is a side veidikortid.is were you can find some lakes around Reykjavík.

    Thanks for the video. I will be in Reykjavik next week and would love to try cod fishing from shore and maybe make a video for my channel. Is shore fishing around the harbor worth doing right now? Just curious how the bite is.

    • @IcelandicElements
      @IcelandicElements  2 місяці тому

      Hello Brant, there is fish around and the bite is pretty good at the moment but not as big fish as in the video at this time of the year. The big spawning cod comes closer to land in the spring for spawning. I do have some good spots in mind if you are interested and I can show you around if you would like that. I watch your videos. All the best Pétur

      @@IcelandicElements That would be great. I was going to try fishing on Tuesday and Friday of this coming up week. We are staying pretty close to the harbor, so I am assuming that is a decent area to try. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, and I would be happy to meet up with you if you're available.

      Hi Josh, you are likely to find fish but just to let you know the big cod you see in the video comes close to land in the spring in high numbers. Later in the summer you will find fish but not as many big ones as in April/May. Thanks for the comment.

    The ray you mention is called a starry ray if your lucky to catch one also dont forget the catfish/steinbitar ive fished these waters for the last 23 years all around Iceland and up north is without doubt by far the best for fishing. The cod thats caught in this video are only at that mark for a very short time and have only just started going into that harbour over the last few years.

    Hey guys! Awesome video, thanks for all the information!!! I’m literally sitting at the airport in Iceland ready to start my fishing week and you guys got me motivated even more!
    Do you know if it’s simply allowed to fish from the shore, or is it necessary to buy some kind of a license?

    • @IcelandicElements
      @IcelandicElements  6 місяців тому

      Thank you for the kind word it keeps us motivated to make more videos. All of the coast line is privately owned but you can fish the harbours and the coastline owned by the towns and the city. I hope that helps. Tight lines!

    • @IcelandicElements

    • @IcelandicElements
      @IcelandicElements  7 місяців тому +1

      Hello, the best time to catch the big cod is usually in April and early May. The colours and types of shad I am not sure about but my friend Yoann who is with me in the video is a specialist when it comes to fishing in the ocean, he should be able to answer this question. I specialise in fresh water fishing. I know that silver toby works well.

    hey guys, this summer i’m going to Iceland and I wanted to know if you need to get a license to fish in sea waters and disinfect your fishing rod and the baits before going there ? I saw these informations on internet and I wanted to know if they’re true.

    • @IcelandicElements
      @IcelandicElements  5 місяців тому

      You can fish without a license on and around the harbour in most towns but most of the coast line is privately owned so you will need a license for that. You will have to disinfect your fishing gear when coming to Iceland. For all fresh water fishing you will need a license.

    Are there any bait/tackle shops near the Fosshotel in Reykjavik? I’ll be there in October 2022. What lures should I bring for shore fishing?

    • @IcelandicElements
      @IcelandicElements  2 роки тому

      I can recommend going to the store called Veiðifélagið it is not far from Fosshotel Reykjavík. I would bring big plastic lures like they are using in the video, 20-30 gr. Toby by Abu Garcia. Fat fish like mackerel is good for bate if you are going for flat fish, cod and other fish will also eat bait.

      Hello Mark, my friend Yoann who is with me in the video is the expert when it comes to this type of fishing but I know that the area around Harpa concert hall is good and also the area were the big ships doc called Skarfabakki but you can not fish every were there. If you see a group of people fishing that is usually a good spot.

    Mate if you're going to release the fish, dont put your hands in their gills, this damages them, many die. May as well eat them
