Good work!!
Thank you
Good job, that was epic!!
Thank you for that, it was a pretty epic day on the water.
Geggjað!
Takk fyrir það, ætla að skoða rásina þína eftir vinnu í dag.
@ magnað hvað þær sátu þrátt fyrir snjóleysið! Var ekkert vesen að fljúga með byssurnar?
@ Já þær voru frekar spakar og sátu lengi. Það var lítið mál að fljúga með byssurnar en nokkrar reglur sem flugfélagið setur.
In Chile, I have seen escaped farm salmon, both Atlantics and Chinook. These were running up the Rio Simpson to spawn. They were very large and very healthy. Farm escapees may not be such a major crisis for Island. I am aware of the arguments for river specific genetics, but maybe genetic diversity will be beneficial, long term. The damage is done, if it is damage. Farm stocks are already in local waters. From a political and economic view, I agree that local political domos should extract more financial benefits from fish farms.
@@jkoysza1 farming salmon in open sea pens is always bad for the environment. Norway is a country that has the most experience with that and if you check out how things are going there you will get a better understanding. Natural fish will always suffer if there is salmon farming in the area there is no need to argue about that.
You M.F spent all this money on gear ,guns ,travel ,etc to go way out to kill harmless beautiful birds .....SICK
Wow you must have really beautiful thoughts and a pure heart. Thanks for sharing your feelings.

Excellent! Enjoy

Æðisleg byssa :)
Thank you for that really helpful video Is there a website for informations about license etc? And are there some good lakes around reykjavik?
Glad you liked the video :) You can fish the harbours around Iceland without a license but the fresh water fishing is private and you need a license for that. There is a side veidikortid.is were you can find some lakes around Reykjavík.
Breeds of dogs use please
We are using dogs that my friend Snorri aka Vargurinn has been breeding for the last 20+ years. They are mixes of the best hunting terriers going back many years. Mild tempered and hard working. My younger dog Orca is extremely good at hunting, you can find videos of her on the channel.
Great scenery and good job making the video. Nice size rainbow. Being American I think of salt water fishing and not all the rivers you have from runoff.
Harold, these are actually brown trout. There are no rainbows in the wild here in Iceland.
Hello Petur. I just watched the Iceland video of Angler Up with Brant and thought I'd check out your channel. You have some nice videos and I didn't expect to se trout fishing in Iceland. All the best to you!!
Hello Harold. Brant is such a nice guy. Thank you for checking out the channel I am glad you liked it. Iceland is a paradise for brown trout, arctic char and salmon fishing ;) All the best to you also. Pétur
Ertu búinn að veiða mjög leingi

Another from Brant! Lots of insects around I see. Reminds me of NWT of Canada on the tundra. Bugs are so thick we needed what you had on but didnt have it! EDIT: Damn, L O N G cast with that fly rod...wow
The area we are fishing in in this video is famous for the flies you see but it is also the reason for how many and big the trout are. Thanks for the comment :)
Angler Up with Brant sent me over. I look forward to watching your content.
Thanks for giving my channel a change, I hope you like the content.
Gott video takk fyrir!
það gleður mig að þér hafi líkað myndbandið.
Beautiful ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
Nítido!
Thanks for the video. I will be in Reykjavik next week and would love to try cod fishing from shore and maybe make a video for my channel. Is shore fishing around the harbor worth doing right now? Just curious how the bite is.
Hello Brant, there is fish around and the bite is pretty good at the moment but not as big fish as in the video at this time of the year. The big spawning cod comes closer to land in the spring for spawning. I do have some good spots in mind if you are interested and I can show you around if you would like that. I watch your videos. All the best Pétur
@@IcelandicElements That would be great. I was going to try fishing on Tuesday and Friday of this coming up week. We are staying pretty close to the harbor, so I am assuming that is a decent area to try. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, and I would be happy to meet up with you if you're available.
@@AnglerUpTv I sent you a email to talk details.

bucket list item... 2027 I plan on going... cant wait
One of my favourite places in the world, you are going to like it.
Can I bring my own tackle? I red something about desnfektion laws
You can bring your own tackle yes. All fishing gear has to be disinfected before entering Iceland.
Is there a place to rent gear in Reykjavik for fishing in the harbor or piers?
Not that I know of.
@@IcelandicElements Can you provide gear if you are guiding a fishing trip in the area of this video?
hey guys, this summer i’m going to Iceland and I wanted to know if you need to get a license to fish in sea waters and disinfect your fishing rod and the baits before going there ? I saw these informations on internet and I wanted to know if they’re true.
You can fish without a license on and around the harbour in most towns but most of the coast line is privately owned so you will need a license for that. You will have to disinfect your fishing gear when coming to Iceland. For all fresh water fishing you will need a license.
Very cool
Glad you enjoyed it
Drulluskemmtilegt video. Meira svona
Takk fyrir það Gísli :)
4,05 In my opinion . not telling you your play , first mistake not letting your young dogs out of the boat with the seasoned Warriors, they have to Learn from the older Dogs , just like Kids
These are all well seasoned, the youngest ones around 3 years old. We don't want to use too many dogs at once to preserve energy and other things so thats why some are left in the boat.
What the breeding of the terriers? Are they a native type?
You could say that they are a native type by now but decades ago their forefathers were Fox Terriers. Since then many other breeds have been mixed in. My friend Snorri has been breading them for the last 20+ years, amazing dogs if you ask me.
nice hunt and nice dogs at least you have ORCA 1 real dog
Orca is a beast!
@icelandicelemets Hey guys! Awesome video, thanks for all the information!!! I’m literally sitting at the airport in Iceland ready to start my fishing week and you guys got me motivated even more! Do you know if it’s simply allowed to fish from the shore, or is it necessary to buy some kind of a license?
Thank you for the kind word it keeps us motivated to make more videos. All of the coast line is privately owned but you can fish the harbours and the coastline owned by the towns and the city. I hope that helps. Tight lines!

Very nice tips for fishing in Iceland, thanks, coming in a week. Any tips on shads colours and which brand? Takk fyrir
Hello, the best time to catch the big cod is usually in April and early May. The colours and types of shad I am not sure about but my friend Yoann who is with me in the video is a specialist when it comes to fishing in the ocean, he should be able to answer this question. I specialise in fresh water fishing. I know that silver toby works well.
@@IcelandicElements thanks Pétur for your reply. I hope I’ll come again in the best season for cod fishing, meanwhile I’ll try my luck with your very useful tips! Thanks again
Interesting video. I'm from Türkiye and one detail caught my attention: When you tried to sic the dogs on the mink, you said "kıss kıs kıs". I'm very much surprized because we use the same exclamation here when we sic dogs on someone or something. People from different countries (Russia, Britain, Gemany, Spain...) laughed at me in the past, when I said "kıss kıss kıs" to my dog. They said they had never heard such a thing and found it funny. Now I see that we've something in common with Icelanders 🙂
Hello Kenan, I really like your comment since I find this topic very interesting. This sound definitely turns the dogs on! I've also had people make fun of it when I make this sound. Making this sound makes everything much more simple. I only make this sound when I see the mink, as soon as I make it the dogs will notice what direction I am looking and always run that way but as soon as I stop making the sound they know approximately were it is and will start searching that area or spot. I've been using this method for some time now and it works super well for me and my dogs. Thanks for the comment Kenan.
Same here in ireland
@@IcelandicElements I absolutely agree with you that uttering that "kıss kıss" sound makes everything simple. Here in Türkiye, we usually point to the target with the index finger and emphatically say "kıss kıss" and dogs instantly get alarmed and cock up their ears with a serious face. I think those sibilant "sss", when uttered emphatically, turn on the dogs with a sort of primal instinct. We've been using this sound to sic dogs for centuries and I believe it is passed on to generations of dogs genetically. Because even the stray dogs here get alarmed when you make this sound. Let me tell you a funny thing: I've worked in Russia for several years and was suprised to see that they say "kis kis kis" to cats wheh they call them. What is a battle cry for our dogs here is an affectionate call for cats in Russia.☺
@@joelong9693 You make the same sound to sic dogs on?🤔 I didn't know this. Very interesting indeed.
I used to do the same sound back in the days to get cats attention haha but I would not dare doing that today with the dogs around. I have also seen this work on dogs that have never been taught to hunt using this sound, I do have that on video. It definitely turns on something primal in the dogs.
wow, this is very much like the Coho Salmon fishing I do here in Vancouver!!!! Great video!!!❤
Salmon fishing is amazing, thank you for the comment :)
save the wild salmon!!
Thats right!
Just curious, why are you killing off these Mink?
The mink are not native and are killing allot birds and fish. They have done allot of damage in many areas. The government pays people to hunt them.
@@IcelandicElements and humans don't do any damage?

Sæll Einar, nei enga hugmynd hvað hefur gerst þar. Hvar fannstu hann í dalnum?
Beautiful landscapes! Have you tried hunting them with a pointing dog?
Thank you, I have yes. There is one video on the channel were we are hunting with a young german vorsteh. Hunting with dogs is amazing, mostly hunting mink with terriers my self.
Ah yes ..salmon and tarpon...both inspire...and keep us thinking about flies reels and that surge when they take....and jump Simon Artley Manchester UK
Never caught a Tarpon my self, it is on my list!
Hvaða á er þetta?
You don't pick up your shotgun shells from the ground? Sick view, really amazing
Hello Kare, I usually do it after I have made sure the bird is down and not injured. The GoPro is turned off right away because the battery empties really fast in the cold. Sometimes I do it right away. Sometimes I forget in the heat of the moment butt I always pick up old ones after other when I see them on the ground. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Pétur
that was hard to watch. couldnt make it til the end
Where is this spot in this vídeo?
I CANNOT WAIT to get there!!!!! I’d like to bring my own equipment but wondering what weight rod I should bring along? Great video!!
