A few of Aston Martin cars. Lol, I know I know, it's more about luxury. But how can you have a car with 700hp and can't beat an amg gtr with 200hp less?
The BRZ is slow. It's a fact. Whoever is offended by it is missing the whole point of the car, it's about cornering and track performance, just like a Miata.
Keep in mind that there are different aspects of cornering performance that people mistakenly believe to be the same. There is agility and then there is grip. Light cars with competent suspension will be agile. High grip cars can achieve high cornering forces before losing traction. They don't have to be light as long as they got the stiff suspension, rigid chassis, sticky tires, and proper suspension geometry. The BRZ is not a high grip car. It is an agile car.
@@ShinyBlackRims Well, to me cornering = high radial acceleration, wether it's because of a higher force or lower mass. But yeah, it's interesting stuff
@@g.zoltan like I said there are different aspects of cornering. Lighter cars are likely to change directions more effortlessly and faster. However this doesn't mean they handle better than a slightly heavier car because that slightly heavier car could be heavier due to higher body rigidity and beefier suspension. In that case, the slightly heavier car would handle better with higher lateral grip limits.
So if it goes around a track fast does that make it slow? You're only using the term "slow" in a straight line dude. But yeah I'd definitely label it as quick, but not slow
same with denmark, honestly.. plus fast cars are somewhat rare here, and only really reserved for those with big pockets, as tuning a car is pretty much illegal and can leave you with an impounded car. if you want anything that's even remotely fast, you'll be paying out your ass in insurance and road taxes.

I was thinking bout this the other day when car shopping. We're spoiled. So many cars are 0-60 under 6.5 for cheap, and it's ridiculous that we consider that slow.
Lol I feel the same. My car does zero to sixty in around 5.1 seconds buts it's now considered slower and on the lower end. Mustang EcoBoost for 2019 or 2020 with their automatic transmission can pull under 5 seconds now for around 30k new. Crazy times we live in.
As a Lancer ES owner (not even a 2.4L GTS), I can say that the naturally aspirated 2.0L I-4 is the equivalent of a sewing machine. 150HP and 150 torque leaves plenty to be desired :P
@@canadianplanespotter There's the problem. When I was car shopping/test driving. A manual base model Lancer was a world above a 2008 Civic (non SI) 2 door Coupe. I can't say I'd bring my 09 GTS to the track, but around town you could have some fun with some spirited driving.
Brutally honest my brother! If they slow, they just slow! Ain't no need for nobody to get all worked up! If they bought a car that looks like it's fast, but got a lawnmower motor, it ain't your fault! Good stuff Big Dog!
Well the cars on this list are primarily directed at non-car people. My guess is most car guys already know these cars are slow. That's why I thought your suggestion was similar.
Brz + turbo kit it’s the best bang for the buck imo, it’s true is slow from factory but it’s an amazing platform full of aftermarket parts. If you buy a brz you definitely have to turbo it. At least every single owner I know does it. Again it’s slow from factory but a turbo changes the game
@@Mr.Schitzengigglez I am just glad that you have something to color with... my top is more shiny (reflective). I too was around 22 when the movie came out. The car did look fast. Did we still have a 55 mph limit on the freeways then?
I drove a wonderful 1977 Fiat 124 Spider with only 87 hp( California emissions) and for a car that size that is all the power you need to be safe and have a great time. I still own it 39 years later and it still runs fantastic. 148,000 miles with only a couple of minor issues ( drove it in 18 inches of water one fine spring day impressing a girl) . Cars today are far to powerful for most of the idiots on the road to control them, especially whilst talking on a cell phone.
The first 20 years it was my daily driver, after that I used a little pick up for work etc. Right now as I am retired I only drive 2-3 K miles per year, grocery store or doctors appointments. You work hard your whole life to save for a nice retirement, to find you feel like crap and don't or can't do anything. I still enjoy looking at my little baby though.@@VehicleVirals
@TJ Roelsma its definitely a gutless bastered stock, i had to do so much shit to get mine really fun in the twisties. was it it worth it? yea, only cause it weighs around the same as a brz so i can toss it around without worry. But was it a learning experience? oh man don't even get me started.
I dont know,300hp is kinda to much, something like 250-270 is a sweet sopt for it,or ading Tourque, that would also help its perfomance..They did lauch A new BRZ TC but i dont think its that much better than a regular one
The thing about the brz is the ECU. It is downtuned by the factory to have a dip in torque progression in the midrange of its rpm. The fact that it only makes 205hp is not why people think it's slow. (Which it isn't really that slow. It's just not a Lamborghini or nothing) does no one remember when having a car with 200hp was seem as a lot of power? Look at Porsche and mazda. They never have that much power but no one ever calls them slow.
Vehicle Virals I don't think you get what my point. It isn't the numbers. Yeah the numbers aren't high by any means. But compare it to the gti. They are similar but people stopped complaining about the gti being slow out of the factory. Because they tuned the ECU differently. The same way that as soon as people buy the brz that is one of their main concerns. That's what made the open flash tablet so popular.
Dexter Wallace you have a valid argument, but tuning a naturally aspirated car will give you very little gains. For turbo cars, the tune just increases boost with gives it a lot more hp and torque.
Not true with Mazda because Mazda has the RX-7 and Speed3 that definitely are not slow, if anything they are considered one of the best bang for your buck or there.
These comments... All this talk of "300hp is not fast" (weight allowing) is utter bollocks. The vast majority of cars on the road don't do 0-60 in less than 8 seconds, never mind sub 6. You pull 10 random names out of a hat and have those people bring their cars to a drag strip. I would take the bet all day none of them would have a car to beat something with 300hp.
My wife's bluddy Terrain is over 300hp and goes like stink. She routinely beats young buck know-nothings in their 'fancy' sports cars and it's hilarious.
i do not own a BRZ/FRS/GThachiroku but i still think that its not all about the top speed or acceleration... and i think the 4 cylinder with 200 horspower is fast enough for a fun car that you can whip around the corners and have alot of fun driving at a touge or a track!
Interesting video. I can vouch for the Fisker Karma having owned one. Your specs are right on target. The best mechanical thing about the car were the brakes. I loved the car for its Aston Martin (Henry Fisker designed Astons) look. I never measured its width but I had it parked next to my C6 Z06 and the Fisker looked wider. I lost the car in Sandy superstorm but I still have 1 key and the plug in wire. Thanks for the video, I am a subscriber. Keep up the good work.
A friend has a BRZ that he stage 2 tuned. (212 hp after) He allso fixed launch control. He is now thinking about putting a compressor in it to. Looking forward to drive with him😊 It just slays the corners.
Was going to write this. It would be a way better entry than Veloster. It's a coupe, looks sportier and a beauty to look at. Slow af though. Now imagine not even going with the 2.7L that you mentioned. I did, driving the 1.6L version :D
Riley Farmer lmao you guys are actually spoiled from living in countries with no fucking tax on cars. 6 secs aint slow. Complain that when you have to pay 20k-25K on cars that does 0-60 in 6-8 secs and and upto 80k if you want a car that does 0-60 in 4-5 secs... due to high taxes.
Any base model v6 mustang made after 2011 hits 0-60 between 5.1 and 5.5 and u can get one for like 10 grand or less..so does that answer ur question a decade lol
Rented a 2.0 L 2019 Hyundai Veloster recently, and it’s definitely better than the one you described. Pretty sure it was under or around six seconds for 0 to 60 mph. And it wasn’t even a turbo. I’d say if you spent the extra couple of grand for the turbo, you wouldn’t be disappointed. This is a super-fun car, especially considering how inexpensive it is. (Oh, and the rental company had set a speed governor at 120 mph, which kicked in before the car even got into sixth gear. That tells me this thing was easily capable of 150 miles an hour, even without the turbo.)
When I see the Brz/Frs/GT86 I never think fast, I think fun and nimble. Same with the Miata. The low end sports car look is what I love. I don't think anyone should try and compare it to the more expensive sports cars with power. That's like comparing a low end samsung Galaxy phone to the more expensive flag ships. And at this point in my comment, I have no idea what the hell I'm saying. Lmao 😂
Lambochaser I think it's non car people issue who think they can be douching around in their miatas or brzs, then get smoked. Car guys know these cars aren't speedsters but we appreciate them for what theg are, non car people are the ones thinking otherwise, it happens a lot with the low end hot hatches, they are quick in their own segment but they are comparable in perfomance to family sedans and suvs. Soccer moms in their audi q2/q3 can leave jimmy and his fiesta st for dead.
BMW i8 but it’s not slow but for its looks it is. It can keep up with an M4 , V8 Audi R8, most BMW M cars before 2012 can’t keep up with the I8. But for its looks it looks like a Ferrari 488 Competition but it’s not.
@@koachk5360 i cant make any conclusion here since i never driven one and dont intend to cuz its hideous af but my brother had a friend who owned one and did a stage 3 ECU tuning and the alien hot rod went up to 165mph , using manual that is , but thats yrs ago so god knows where that car is now
I upgraded from the 86 to a 2016 Nismo 370z. Best decision ever. The power and the handling. Perfect balance between an agile four banger and a heavy v8 car And the whole car is built solid as fuck. Everything has a nice sturdy feel to it, not to mention you’ll go weeks without seeing another Nismo 370z even in a city like Houston.
Not to hate but the Karama is mostly a luxury electric car it has the sport mode to make it seam faster than the actual speed it’s the opposite of the Bently effect witch is a car that look slow but car kick a mustang’s tail it’s more of a Rolls Royce
Sure but like 100k for a Luxury car that has a poor performance its very expensive. You'd be better with buying a Mercedes S Class. You'd have a more decent performance and a great luxury Sedan.
You are wrong. The BRZ does not go 0-60 in 6.2 seconds. That would be relatively quick. That would be as quick as a 125i/GTI/WRX/ST. It does it in 8.2 seconds for the auto and 7.4 for the manual.
You do know that the manufacture 0-60 times are never accurate? Auto journalist always get better numbers than advertised. Like I said in the video 6.2 isn't really that slow but when compared to it's looks it's definitely slower than what it appears. Not staying your wrong. You're rightfully entitled to your opinion just as am to mine. Appreciate your input and thanks for watching
@@VehicleVirals Yeah absolutely they are never 100% accurate, but they usually quote them as quicker than they are. 6.2 seconds looks right for this car; it does not look like a supercar at all. But hey, I ain't tryna go J-Cat with this, to each their own. Have a good one.
Look up the articles where people other than the manufacturer does the times. They all typically put the manual transmission brz in the 6.1 to 6.4 second time. The automatic time is over 7 seconds. Motor trend put the 2013 manual brz at 6.4 seconds and the automatic at 7.7 seconds
The problem with the BRZ is that it's one of the only cars in a class that basically doesn't exist anymore. The affordable, entry level sports car. You used to have the S2k, S13, Eclipse, MR2 etc. All of these cars are gone now. What's left is pretty much the Miata and BRZ. So people are comparing them to cars that are above their class.

I have one of these! Opel Astra GTC, 1.4 Turbo. 140 BHP and 200 Nm torque. Looks fabulous, red, aggressive, with 18" alloys. Twice I've been challenged: by a Corvette and an AMG. In both cases, I had my family with me. My car does 0-100 km/h in 9.9 seconds under ideal circumstances...
In my country (Brazil) the veloster was advertised 140 hp (it's ok for our standards) in reality, it had 116 hp and it didn't have any of the advertised features (like surround sound and side airbags) and Many costumers complained about that (so much so that one time it landed in court and Hyundai was forced to give a model with all advertized features)
Bullshit... it's 140 hp at the crank, 116 at the wheel. A normal loss for most cars. And unless you remove the engine, you can only measure it at the dyno and get the 116...
I think it’s a cool car great performance but looks bad and unappealing looks aren’t everything but I would like the performance to match the looks and vice versa the older ones look better though imo.
Have you ever thought or did a video for fast/ slowest 4 door family cars? I have 2016 Jetta. It’s a pretty quick car. Plus it hauls the kids around. I can appreciate a good looking sporty car. Not all car enthusiast can’t drive a Honda S2000. Just, thought I throw that video suggestion out there. Love you videos.
If you want your delorean to to be fast, put an LS engine in it and make sure to put a new transmission, the delorean's transmission won't do that power
For the average person, a 0-to 60 in under 7 seconds is respectable and if you floored it In front of a police officer, you'd probably STILL get pulled over and get a ticket for excessive display of speed.
BRZ/FRS/86 were created for tuners that want to wrench out their own power. It's the perfect platform considering it's impeccable handling, weight distribution, RWD, and of course it's objectively beautiful style.
Toyota gt86 was actually my first car, and it was great! I sold it this summer to buy a 1st gen Honda nsx, which is also great, but I miss driving the gt86 every day. Such a fun car on twisty mountain roads in Norway.

39 years and only 148K miles? Nice job!

Great selection bro. I will choose the Subaru against the Mazda..but the Subaru needs 100 hp more for sure..
I'd say bump the torque, I think that's what's missing
I dont know,300hp is kinda to much, something like 250-270 is a sweet sopt for it,or ading Tourque, that would also help its perfomance..They did lauch A new BRZ TC but i dont think its that much better than a regular one
It's a great looking car with a solid platform the more power is the better.
They should add a BRZ STi with the WRX STi engine with 305 HP.
Like you said, mid-range troque seems absent. Honestly just bump the torque but maybe 20 or 30 and you'll make customers happy
I get you. Appreciate the I sight Dexter 👌🏼
As i own a lancer.. i was sad that the lancer was on the list
*Tries to win lottery* Gotta make it go faster! lol
My lacrosse has like 300hp

My wife's bluddy Terrain is over 300hp and goes like stink. She routinely beats young buck know-nothings in their 'fancy' sports cars and it's hilarious.
i do not own a BRZ/FRS/GThachiroku but i still think that its not all about the top speed or acceleration... and i think the 4 cylinder with 200 horspower is fast enough for a fun car that you can whip around the corners and have alot of fun driving at a touge or a track!
Which is exactly what I said word for word in the video.

100% agree.
@@VehicleVirals yep, in a video dedicated to slow cars...
They're better than high powered cars in the canyons/touge
Biggest issue with the brz is the wide gear ratio. Gears are too long for a car that doesn't have much power
If you think the 2.4 l lancer is slow then you should try the 1.6 or 1.3 version
I don't care how slow it is: I absolutely adore the brz

Back when the speed limit was 55 mph, cars all had speedos that only went up to 85 mph. Even Mustangs that the CHP use.
Since when 6.2 sec is slow ?
Mihail Anastasov that’s slow bud
Steve Rodriguez what classifies it as slow...? 6 seconds in faster than like 85% of all cars ever made
Most cars can do 0-60 in 5 maybe mid 4's that are comprable in class. 6.2 is dogshit slow
Sad part is my dad's 2006 toyota camry goes 0-60 faster than all these cars and its only worth currently $600
Subaru BRZ 0/60 is 7.4 seconds not 6.2
That in automatic transmission not manual

B 94 crazy my n/a crossfire gapped a manual brz and highly modded frs
Saw a BRZ moving damn fast through some speed reduction curves though without hitting the brakes....
You are wrong. The BRZ does not go 0-60 in 6.2 seconds. That would be relatively quick. That would be as quick as a 125i/GTI/WRX/ST. It does it in 8.2 seconds for the auto and 7.4 for the manual.
Car and Driver says otherwise
@@VehicleVirals Subaru Australia says otherwise to what you said. If it did it in 6.2; it is quick for its price. It shouldn't be on this list.

You’re pretty true for Hyundai.... It’s not reliable, strong, and fast
