Lyrics:
I Am Colossus
I'm the great Leviathan, insatiable colossus
Titanic engulfer of lives, I reward you, absorb you
I'm the monstrous mouth that hungers for your awe
Immense construction of lies. I own you, disown you
I am life. I'm death. You empower me
I'm a mammoth king evoked, conjured by your dreams
Summoned by your fears. You need me, you feed me
I'm the imposing giant. Infallible dictator
My rules apply to all. You'll heed me, bleed for me
I am life. I'm death. I decide your fate
You empower me. You'd even kill for me
Guzzling down your dreams - the tears of unheard pleas I drink,
Imbibe with such delight the fear that floods your temporal shell
Raging red rivers and streams - the kingdom of my shadow
Where dread of man in endless night revives my every cell
To those who doubt - your wounds will never heal
To those who question my creation - I'm not real
I am pain. I am grief. I'm the things you fear
I'm the lie whispered into your ear
I'm the great Leviathan. I'm dominance and greed
You imagined me, so I was conceived
I am life. I'm death. You belong to me
Call me what I am. I am colossus

0:03 finally a Meshuggah song that has a soft silent intro
0:04 nevermind
😂😂😂
lollll
"...I'm not real."
Chills everytime.
Right before i heard that part i read this comment
That whole part between 2:40 and 3:00 is fucking insane
@@Eximious94 the whole part between 0:04 and 4:47 is insane
The whole part from 0:00 to 4:48 is freggin insane
@@profound369 now we're talking
I don't understand why this video isn't more popular. It's extraordinary by any standard.
Is it made by the guy from Tool? It looks like the clip from parabola especially.
I really want to headbang to this, but I'm bad at math..
If it helps, it's all 4/4 but heavily syncopated. Be at one with the 4/4 in Mesguggah and you will go far!
lol XD
+Wenxing Wang You could think of it as half-time 4/4, but it's actually easier imo to think of it as 6/8. It's got a little 6/8 beat during the verse almost like Fool in the Rain (Zeppelin), but the guitars and crash hits are so syncopated it's pretty tough to catch the timing. =]
well all things considered so are they in the eyes of traditional music theory lmfao, polyrhythm bliss, my favorite band of all time... it's short lived but the solo in straws pulled at random is by far the best solo of all time, and also the only moment through out their discography that flirts w a major key
listen for the hihat ticks lol
Please tell me I'm not the only one that has Meshuggah tracks like this just obliterate their spine with a rolling chill. Every. Single. Time.
Ciertamente 2 años despues, meshuggah sigue colisionando agujeros negros supermasivos a 5/7 de la velocidad de la luz.
2:00 to 2:40. Top 5 hardest riffs in metal history.
Bass guitar hits me like a truck
Not even close to being top 5
Riff carnage in there
True cause it’s Shuggah
Whole song is great
I think a lot of people don't really understand Meshuggah. It takes time to fully appreciate their music.
Its just a Meshuggah thing. They are very unique.
It's certainly an acquired taste, but absolutely fantastic when it clicks...
Indeed!
+Adam Kilpatrick Yeah it takes some time to understand good art :)
+Adam Kilpatrick My first time listening to them was Catch 33 and it was from searching for the heaviest music I could find out of pure novelty. Then I heard this album... and it wasn't a joke anymore.
Sam Dell Anyone who is challenged by Do Not Look Down just has poor taste :P

I am destruction of innocence...
GS music I AM THE VIOLENCE EMBEDDED IN FLESH
I AM THE PAIN IN THE BONES OF THE MORTAL SHELL
THE DARK HEART OF THE EARTH
I AM HEEEELLLLLLLLLLLL
Thats the best lyrics format I've ever seen, no joke
Meshuggah has the best music videos. Both the low-budget ones and the high-budget ones are fantastic.
The guitar and bass tones in this is what I live for
Elisa McMemeLord The guitar and bass in EVERY Meshuggah song is what I live for. Especially in this one and Pitch Black.
I have to agree
i'd donate my nipples to find out how the hell Thordendal is doing that ambient shit at 2:58, i can't nail it down.
what bass
I thought they didn't have a bass player anymore
What you talking about, of course they have a bass player. He even wrote alot of stuff for their newest album.
161 people headbanged so hard they bled out of their eyes and accidentally clicked the dislike button

Sounds a lot cooler.
It's impressive how every one visualizes Meshuggah as a flawless band.
Cool.
This video made me realize we need a Meshuggah and Tool collaboration..
oh man a Meshuggah riff with Maynard ...KickASS
Michael Crandall Gojira... Basically the combination of both
Henry Hawker good band that I didn't know about. Thanks !
I love you
lol i remember thinking this, its going to be one of the most important moments in history when that happens
Never heard another band that can push and shift you around a groove like Meshuggah can....
The little jump cuts in sync with the chuggs are wonderful!
I would love to see a full feature-length movie done in this style.
Check out "Mad God", I think it fits pretty well
I'll never turn down a meshuggah music video, even if it means no sleep for me
Very difficult song and very inspiring. I'm impressed by their musicianship.
2:56 Man that solo is awesome. So simple, but so good.
This is like sticking your head inside a hydraulic press and smashing it down a few times.....and liking it. I am convinced there is nothing heavier.
Lol
These guys are heavier than a busful of feminists that just pulled up at a weight watchers camp :D
In the constellation of the black widow by anaal nathrakh is pretty fuckin heavy.
I think bands like Portal, Ulcerate and Gorguts are heavier. I love Meshuggah but they don’t seem as heavy as those bands to me. It’s obviously subjective though.
Tyler Harrington
Try syl if you have not
Shout out to all the 3D animators for metal music videos who I don’t feel get enough spotlight.. some of these are brilliant.
Meshuggah is on a completely different level.
like the Mars Volta was.
the multiple time signatures, simultaneously
the dissonant harmonies
suspensions
the quality of their technical ability
their ability to not be technical
fucking incredible
Aliens...
Man fuck the Mars Volta
@@samus1421 Nah, not from America.
Wow, you really have an insane projection problem bro, have you ever considered getting professional help?
@@samus1421 LOL you're cute
2:00 now that’s a heavy riff
I have had ppl tell me this sounds like noise to them, and I get that, but as a musician myself, I think we hear music differently than ppl who aren't musicians. When I listen to music I also see it in my head, and I can tell how difficult it is to play, and can pick apart the different sounds. I don't think a lot of ppl can do that, and that's why heavy metal sounds like noise to them. To me this is like a symphony. I can imagine trying to play with these guys and struggling with these rhythms they come up with I never hear anyone else use. This band rocks.
this is a lyrical masterpiece....thank you, meshuggah
Awesome music, awfull lyrics, sadly.
i actually think the lyrics on this track are better than most of their others@@Thomas-ud4is
Describes what God means to various faiths is what I understood through the lyrics
This song is pure fuel. I listen to this and a colossus awakens within
this is already one of my fav bands, insane drummer
MELHOR BANDA DO MUNDO
para mim ainda é pantera, mas estes suecos tocam á brava
slb slb glorioso slb
I wish they played this live more
2:00 probably one of the most badass things on my life.
This is one of the most brilliant compositions I've ever heard. Incredibly unique and paints such strong imagery when listening to it, even before seeing this gorgeous video.
2:24 This riff sounds like a malfunctioned locomotive possessed by an unraged demon.
the masters of rhythm. The best drummer ever???
Probably one of the best and creative metal videos I've seen in a long time. Just fucking great!
This song and video combo is everything. This is it people. Go home.
This is one of the creepiest music videos I've ever seen. Great artwork though. I love it.
imagine being hunted by those three things in that building for 24 hours
+Zane Duddy kinky
who else is on that list?
BLEED IS CREEPIER
Andrew Drow you get used to it when watch a lot of times. Like Bleed no longer freak me out like it did when I watched it for the first time
2:08
Is this what a tungsten osmium alloy sounds like?!?!
That is just stupid heavy!!!
INFALLIBLE POTATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like the Mother Brain theme from Super Metroid. I mean that in the best possible way.
+A Small Babby it looks like i came to the right place...
+A Small Babby So true!! hahaha
If meshuggah did the super metroid sound track I would die. I mean, can you imagine the boss themes?
Alright, time for a remake of Super Metroid with this song as the Mother Brain theme.
Crap, you're right!
videoclip = Tool meets Spirited Away meets Silent Hill meets Shadow Of The Colossus
Shadow of the Meshuggah
holy shit, this is the same animator as knocked loose - a tear in the fabric of life
2:57 this guitar solo gives me the eargasms of my life, my skin is shivering
it makes me wanna fucking scream
Better love story than Twilight.
This is about your mind conjuring personal fear that dictates your life.
Jeremiah Funke Still a better love story than Twilight. :P
So much Tool, but heavier... Love it!
P.S. Just got to know that Meshuggah were first :)
Their best album
That mid section is Riff Carnage
This is really good
Literally could have played any lead in this song other than that 1 note simpleness.
As a guitar player you want to show off your skills first but as a musician you want people to like the music first.
Fredrick is a great musician and an even better guitar player :)
Trying to erase anger and depression is dumb. I'll embrace them.
Jens is the man. I honestly think he's gotten better even though his voice has gotten deeper. He's got way more than one sound also...and he does it live...when you see it done live all doubts are erased.
Guzzling down your dreams - the tears of unheard pleas I drink,
Imbibe with such delight the fear that floods your temporal shell
Raging red rivers and streams - the kingdom of my shadow
Where dread of man in endless night revives my every cell
1:15 POTATERRRR!
+Brady Thomas Lol, that's awesome
+Brady Thomas Inflatable Potater
+Brady Thomas lol
Now that's all I hear damn you XD
Brady Thomas God damn you!
"You imagined me, so I was conceived."
God fucking damn.
Colossus is love, Colossus is life.
I think It's easier to count this in 12/8, which is basically, in this context, a triplet-driven 4/4.
And then there's the polyrhythms, which ya know... :S
listen carefully to the hi-hat. it's all 4/4.
+Braedon Sutherland You can interpret it however you want
The hi-hat and snare are in 4/4, but not the rest.
+Jovan Varennikov Op is right - the song is in 12/8 (basically 4/4 with a triplet feel), and the palm muted chug in the verse sections is an imperfect 5:3 polyrhythm. This song's coolness comes from how the phrasing of the atonal descending lick relates to the muted verse rhythm.
Havok
I agree totally. I was just saying how the hi-hat is always 4/4. The entire Koloss album was essentially triplets over 4/4, from what I heard. Especially in 'The Demon's Name Is Surveillance'.
Nothing comes close to this song.. This is art, a masterpiece ♥
Love the animation and visuals here. It's awesome to see it timed to the music as well. Trippy
One of the 12 Greatest Songs Ever Written About False Self.
This whole video is a masterpiece - the song, the lyrics, the rhytm, the clip itself. Great job Meshuggah!
The moment you don't know when its the right time to headbang but then you start the song from the beginning and just headbang all the time cause you dont care anymore.
WOW. The great Colossus. FEAR. TERROR. Amazing song.
Meshuggah has been playing this style of music since 1994-1995.
This is way too cool
Meh. The nuns were a lot tougher than this when I went to Catholic school back in the day.
in what regard?
Fritz Kühne clit size
Fritz Kühne They are tougher on children with reasonable questions. Nuns turned me into a Christian. I hate religion.
Just like these nuns, those fed on souls too.
More evil.
2:57 is so fucking gnarly.
Meshuggah will only and ever be the definition of Heavy.
I wish Meshuggah would make more slow, brutal songs like this.
Nebulous, Organic Dreams
These guys just keep getting better, Meshuggah is simply amazing!
Now we know how polyrithmic heartbeat looks like
2:08 the start of possibly the greatest bridge in metal ever
He had such a lovely voice when he was in the church choir
LOL! That's what my mum used to say of me... she was the organist! TBF though she gave me a tape of Led Zeppelin IV when I was seven years old, and that led me indirectly to this...
Check this out at 1.25 and 1.5 speed, it totally changes the vibe of the song, the drums have a very tribal feel to them at 1.25 in particular.
0.5 much better, anyway
Best metal universe video
1:14 -
A FOUL POPATO!!!
there is not a single satanic symbol in this entire short story
0:38 is vaguely reminiscent of the music that plays during the battle with Mother Brain in Super Metroid.
just amazing
Awesome song. Awesome video. Keep it coming Meshuggah.
2:08: Dat polyrhythm, my mind is like WTF and I'm actually rather used to polyrhythms.
The hi hat is doing a polyrhythm, ans the guitars are doing a polymetric riff
Edit: there's no polyrhythm, the hi hat is in sync with the guitars, it's another polymeter
This is heavier than a teaspoon of neutron star material
Awesome!!!
i assure you Meshuggah would never resort to copying... they are one of the most influencial metal bands of all time. people like them frown upon copiers. just because the style of animation is similar doesnt mean its copying. they're swedish, they might not even know what tool is (they probably do, but idk)
Most artistic video i have seen in a long time good job
FUCKING BRUTAL GOOD SHIT GUYS
Oh my good ! That blows me away - awesome !
It is very jazz-fusion-dark-metal style. No fokin one could copy that style or music! Stunning and unique!
Holy shit this is possibly the best music video I've seen this century
Very simple, extremely heavy.
This goes so well with the Zeitgeist movement. It should be the anthem.
i NEED to like this OVER & OVER again!....
So heavy I dropped my phone. According to GPS tracking, my phone is currently in the core of the Earth.
this was the song i picked to give this band a listen. my god where has this been all my life? i love djent but i always read that meshuggah are the pioneers. I fell in love at 2:00 but it got even better at 2:08..so insane, so empowering. i think its time to take a road trip with this music. with some nice weed too :)
That's how I found them on a roadtrip to the mountains in 8th grade I forgot my headphones and everyone on the bus was playing offspring on a stereo and my buddy was like check these guys out if you want some relief lol NMCC 33yo now play them everyday!
Love this.
1.09 = can't think of a better image that captures the hugeness of this tune.
DJENT... DJENT... DJENT... DJENT... DJENT DJENT ♪♫
+Cristian Montenegro This is not Djent.
+Strilh Overlord i know.. this is THALL...

"INFLAMABLE POTATER" 1:10
Jens Kidman and his epic misheard lyrics hahah!!!
Oh for fuck's sake. This turned this song from brutal as fuck, to just brutal with just those two words.
That was a good laugh! :)
You made my day
I tried to hear that and just got "infallible dictator"
Daaaamn! love the ending.
2:00 musical eargasm. FUCK THAT IS SO FUCKING HARD!
