Monster Maulers is among the best tributes to the tokusatsu films of the 70s and 80s I've ever seen - Konami smacks it out of the park once again! Also, be sure to check out the theme song! ua-cam.com/video/ehRuGj8JjXk/v-deo.html
This game is a tribute to the 60's science fiction animes: Music like Mazinger, a trio of enemies directly inspired by Yatterman, the heroes having a jet like Gatchaman...
This game got flooded by the capcom tsunami of street fighter and its spinoffs. This game could’ve potential without being tagged as a street fighter clone. Music is so sentai epic!
There's also a good ending where they kick their asses (it may be even showing the moments you killed them in your playthrough). You know you got it is, in the last cutscene, instead of their standard victory poses, they look towards the ship and the girl mimics a "bang".
Today you can have access to it on PC…you can find emulators to this game,I believe on MAME it will run perfect and plus having a video quality just like you see here
Japan version has its theme song replacing Stage 1 of choice, and speaking episode title, while overseas doesn't allow them. Nothing changes for final stage since it will play the theme song.
This reminds me of the Konami I loved so much growing up. Never got to play this back in the day, as it never got a wide release in arcades, but have played it since, and it's a very underrated and odd gem.
If you have PC you can take back your access to it,I'm sure this game you can play on MAME emulator as you will have a better quality of video and hand coordination
If you're looking for a similar game, then play warzard/red Earth. The only thing it doesn't have is co-op gameplay but it has a cool RPG system and runs on the street fighter 3 engine. The graphics on that game were mind blowing in the 90s.
Monster Maulers, known in Japan 🇯🇵 as Kyukyoku Sentai Dadandarn lit. Ultimate Squad Dadandarn is a 1993 fighting arcade games developed and published by Konami.
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance had a lot of Konami company references in it, one of them definitely being the final Dracula form taken from the final Brainy boss here!
This is a perfect example of works who began with good intentions, but failed at the end. Like the movies Night of the Lepus and Megaforce(especially this one). I wouldn’t mind playing this arcade game.
And so the game ends, and the staff credits greet you with... short clips of the heroes getting their asses kicked by the bosses. Well... that's... a thing. I like this game - it's very similar to Metamoqester in some ways, but that one lacks the goofy tokusatsu overtones that this one has... it's also a bit more brutal in the difficulty department.
There is a good ending which I've seen at times, but I never figured out the condition(s) to obtain it. You can do things like break the Moai's face, destroy a nucleus inside the slime monsters, or make brainy's eye fall off (I've seen it in a single video) but it's not clear whether they figure in that or not. This came actually a couple years before Metamoqester, so the latter may have been inspired by it.
@@DavideGendo One coin only clear = They got beaten, and the villains are there. Continued game after no more lives = They beat the bosses and even villains, and the heroes are there for the world

@Requiem4aDr3Am Lmao good, so it wasn't just me seeing major moobage there. Ya know, awkwardly framed between his corset and his shoulder pads lmfao. Wtf is he doing with shoulder pads?
For the games you can select your character. Do you select a certain one for video purposes or do you select the character you prefer playing with? I’ve always wondered if you had a reason.
More like Copyright Maulers. I see Goku, I see Vegeta, I see the guy who built Astroboy, oh, and hello EXACTLY the Doronbo Gang from Yatterman. No wait.. that's almost EXACTLY Dasainen from Itidakiman. I thought Japanese copyright law was strict. Oh, I forgot. Video games plagiarize from anime all the time without any repercussions.
And it's the most obvious because EVERYONE knows Godzilla. Actually, if anything that's worse, since apparently, Godzilla's roar is heavily copyrighted.

And a rocking theme song in the style of Super Sentai.
The sound that dragon makes when it roars is from Godzilla.
This was very entertaining. Thanks for sharing this gem.

12:20 such a great theme song!!
11:09 Aight hold on now just a second...
xD
LOL

I love how the credit images are all of the heroes getting pwned.

@@DavideGendo Yeah, but for some reason in order to get the good ending, you have to use up a continue.
Oh, that opening music. I remember going to arcades and hearing sound like that coming from all around. It always meant a good time

The best ending with just one credit.
If an anime version of this game was ever released, it would be one of those wacky animes worth watching from beginning to end =)
Imagine the Anne fanservice(she even does yoga as a hobby)🥵

Apparently a home port was in the works, but it was scrapped because of the 1995 Hanshin Earthquake.
What website said that?
Also, that scientist looks like a fusion of Dr Wily and Dr Light from the Megaman series.
Don't you mean...DOCTAH WAHWEE?
The three characters in the thumbnail are literally just the Doronbo gang.
Love how they ripped off Godzilla's roar during the dragon fight.
And that theme song is just epic!
I like how at the end credits they show all the bad guys winning.
It's like Kotetsu was in another type of "game" and decided to help out in this one. Well, all three main characters.
He's design is weird. At first I though he was a female with all his movements etc
Before Godhand seems like this game already have the Saturday Cartoon style

1:50 its the brain from gradius 🤣
Actually, that the boss from a spin-off of gradius called lifeforce
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance had a lot of Konami company references in it, one of them definitely being the final Dracula form taken from the final Brainy boss here!
0:55 The Dorombo Gang from Yattaman?
Exactly. Also the mook robots in the last level are destroyed in ways similar to how Casshern did.
Blue/red Dragon must be godzilla's lost brother. (Cuz they both have godzilla roars.)
ohh .. childhood memories.. I was having hard time with that Diablo
Fungus is a really creepy opponent to go against, but his theme song is pretty catchy
Especially since they look like a guy in a rubber suit; aka the Power Rangers' monster of the week.
This is a perfect example of works who began with good intentions, but failed at the end. Like the movies Night of the Lepus and Megaforce(especially this one).
I wouldn’t mind playing this arcade game.
You ought to give it a try. It's super fun.
That's a crazy and funny game. Congrats
Maybe it could be released on Steam someday--same with Ninja Baseball Batman (that game needs a Steam release too!).
Never come copy right soundtracks with anime ost movie
But how develop the places in 3D?Most Steam games are 3D or mixed like 16-bit and cartoon, and this game is accessible with MAME on PC
At 2:14, while he's fighting that brain, the boss music for Salamander (Lifeforce) begins. He finishes it off before the rest could play.
The Fungus boss fight has no right to sound so funky 😂
This game alongside Metamoqester is same fun semi beat'em up-Fighting game
Are the 3 aliens that sent the fighters to Earth SUPPOSED to look like the trio from "Yatterman"?
Yeah I think they are meant to be a parody/tribute to the Doronbo Gang.
Happy Buster Ace = Doronjo
Mr. Chi = Boyacky
Garuga = Tonzura
Buenas movidas kyle catboy 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟

Why does Diablo look like an early character design for Street Fighter character, Blanka?
Diablo looks like a oni, an ogre of japanese folklore.

What the heck are the dorombo guys from yattaman doing here
Awesome game! I think it would have been neat if the villain’s mechs combined to be the final boss of the game.
Why can’t we get Konami beat rm ups on a compilation like Capcom did. Take my money Konami!
Don't worry. They just made a Castlevania compilation and a Contra one, so a beat-em-up collection is probably in the cards.
Yeah crime fighters vendetta violent storm metamorphic force and this hey even throw in gaiapolis let m2 handle the port..
0:12 Ganon antes de llegar a Hyrule
Cool
Holy shit that theme at 2:15 was in Gradius 2! Is this boss fight connected to the Gradius world in any way?
The Fungus guy was cool, but who here doesn't want to play as the Centaur?
What a weird design for a main character.
Seriously. I thought he was a topless chick at first Lmao
Momotaro, aka Peachboy is more than likely the basis of the main character.
Waaaait a second, that Ducker Mecha appeared as a Yugioh card
