This just suddenly appeared in my recommendations and I ended up watching it to the end 😭 I don’t know anything about stained glass art but your designs are really good and I like em!
I was always getting confused when using my grozer pliers to break off small pieces, so I marked a letter "F" with a Sharpie on the flat side to remind myself which side should be up. That's an interesting pattern in the dark Youghiogheny glass sheet you used. Never saw that kind of pattern in stained glass before. Your artistic talent shows in your eye for colors and glass styles.
That's smart! A visual indicator so you can quickly see which side should be up is a great idea! And yes, isn't that Yougiogheny glass awesome?! It makes the perfect flower centers.
This is so pretty! You designed this yourself yes? What program do you use to design with? I noticed a couple things however: As you put the hobby came around the outside of the piece, I noticed some copper foil still showing, how did you deal with that? I have tried soldering to "hide" the foil along the edges, but that was probably the wrong thing to do as it made it look horrible. Also did you use hobby came for the edges of the flower pedals, or did you hand solder the sides? You do a good job of describing the glass, I never know what to call it other than use a bunch of adjectives with the color :) Can't wait for more videos!
Thank you! Yes, I designed this myself - I like to use Photoshop for patterns. And good eye! I didn't show how I dealt with the foil that showed - sometimes I just trim the foil that's showing, but in this case, I soldered the exposed foil to the lead came. It takes a little practice, but you can get the solder pretty smooth along the came. I beaded the edges around the flower petals.
🤦🏼♀️ oh man, I completely forgot that part of the video, I even filmed it! Yes, you have to seal the edges of mirrored glass. You can use clear nail polish, but I like to stick all of my glass pieces facedown on a piece of painters tape, and spray the pieces with a generous coating of CRL mirror edge sealant. If any of the sealant gets on the front of the glass, you can just scrape it off with an xacto knife. I used RU-01 lead came around the pumpkin edge, RU-92 lead came around the moon/sky areas, and I beaded around the petals.
I have a Techniglass grinder and a Glastar grinder. I mostly use the Techniglass grinder, but I have the Glastar always set up for using 1/4" and 1/8" bits.
I'm not sure. If you score too lightly, trying to run that score will cause your glass to break unpredictably. You also might find it helpful to tap the back of your glass along the score line before trying to run the score. It could be your tools, or it could also be the texture of the glass you're using - some glass doesn't like to break nicely. There are many things that can go wrong when cutting glass.
Thank you for showing how to foil the sharp points of inside cuts.

Haha so random! Thank you - glad you liked it 🙂
Really nice
Absolutely gorgeous design! Watching you work was very educational to me. I'm a newbie at stained glass. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you so much! Glad to be helpful 🤗
Another fantastic piece! Its like christmas when I see you have a new post. I could watch you work all day.
You're the sweetest! Thank you 🤗

Thank you for your well explained tutorial, enjoyed watching. Beautiful finished piece 😊
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
You did such a great job on this project 🙏
You can call the piece 'harvest moon' . The choice of colors is great thats one of the hardest parts for me, nicely done
Perfect name for the piece! Thanks 🙂

nice
Do you have to do anything special, like seal the silver backed, mirror glass? Did you use zinc, hobby came or both to trim it?

@@SamanthaAshleyGlass Thank you for that! 🙂 Now, what's the diff between RU-01 RU-92, the depth of the came?
@@speedmom1702 exactly, the face depth of ru-92 is larger than ru-01
@@SamanthaAshleyGlass Thank you!! 🙂
Can I ask what you are using as your marker it seems to stay on really well with the ring saw
Gold Sharpie oil based paint markers are my go to.
What brand of grinder do you use?
I have a Techniglass grinder and a Glastar grinder. I mostly use the Techniglass grinder, but I have the Glastar always set up for using 1/4" and 1/8" bits.
Thank you
What I’m I doing wrong every piece I try to cut it break
