I wonder how ADA/ physically disabled homeless people friendly the new navigational shelter will be. When I was at the temporary one in Oceanside, half of the people (like myself) were in wheelchairs or had a walker. I spent every day I was there looking for a shelter that would accept physically disabled people in San Diego County as well as other counties. My interfaith case manager was friendly and tried to help me. But the San Diego Rescue Mission case manager - as soon as I told her I did not want to go to El Cajon's Christian conversion therapy shelter, she turned cold and said I was no longer a priority, I would no longer be allowed to stay at the navigational shelter and I would not be welcomed at the new navigational shelter (this shelter featured in the video;) because I didn't want to go to a Christian shelter that had very strict religious participation rules, charges their clients $700 a month and requires you to give them all of your food stamps. I really hope she's just one bad apple and this homeless shelter genuinely helps people, including physically disabled homeless people. A growing statistic in homelessness And no. I am not a drug addict, not an alcoholic and am not severely mentally ill. I had a full time job before my accident that made me homeless.
The poor that rent can't afford to work.
Great story.
Seems like a lot more homeless around town
Quit wasting taxpayers money. I have no misconceptions about the homeless. $1 is too much to spend at this point. It’s throwing away the money.
