@The Fantom Convoy you do realise naruto, one piece and dbz all become blown up animes and most commonly known due to its outer Asia audience right? Dbz set the path to other counties to invite other animes which naruto and one piece joined. And like said, if the majority of these countries had the Bruce falconer as their ost and it was kuch perfered its an easy Victor, even look at the comments, more are in favour of Bruce then OST, which is right, you can have your own opinion which is okay, which most people who grew up on the Japanese tracks will most likely perfer due to its nostalgia, but overall its a given the tracks were more cartoonish and given it would of survived well in most European and white countries due to its weak instrumentals, same goes to the vocals on the characters
It's a damn shame that Bruce basically took all the credit. It wasn't just him, it was a whole team of composers. Mike Smith, Scott Morgan, and Julius Dobos were the *main* composers for DBZ. According to Morgan, Bruce only did around "eight percent" of the music done. Morgan mainly did the guitar work, Smith did most of the writing and arrangements, and Dobos worked heavily on the Buu sagas. The three are technically a band now called SSJ (Smith, Scott, and Julius XD)

Japanese one is inferior with English voices, Bruce should stay because that’s what the music matches the era in which we all saw it in western countries

The faulconer score has alot of banger themes but funimation had some very bad storyboard. They made it so that there was almost always music playing, and this was to line up with the audience of american children. Dunno but I guess its some strange american culturural thing
@nowonmetube this was my first anime I have watched, if i watched it in the original Audio would have never liked it, gokus girly ass [when he's grown man dbz cell saga ]voice hell nah dude. I Grew up with manly type characters GIJoel,heman,Superman then niggas. But thank God I saw dbz first in English because I was hooked then. The music and all the Voice actors made me truly fall in love with the show.
The 1st time vegeta said he has become a super saiyan was against frieza we knew what happened then. This time vegeta transformed into a SS and damn he became unstoppable.
They changed ALOT to make it more soft ppl friendly.. they don't even have the same lines or voice actors, some scenes were taken out.. not as intense at all.. and then they went EXTRA soft with super😂
I loved both soundtracks. It wasn't Falconer's fault the editors/producers spammed the music without any silent spaces like the original series. I think that hurt the dub more than anything--you need that audio "negative space" if you will. Not every scene needs BGM, you gotta let some things breathe.
true, i think they could have calmed down a bit, but I noticed the Ocean dub had that same issue too. It's weird because I don't remember that being a major problem with other shows besides DBZ.
I'm watching the funi run of dbz again as we speak and honestly I don't even notice the lack of silence at all. Many times the score is incredibly quiet in the background for that purpose, and I find that the choice of songs in the score is absolutely fantastic. I really don't see how it's noticeable or distracting for some, though I am a big prog music buff so it doesn't bother me to have constant sounds.
@The Fantom Convoy Kai wasn't even successful as far as Toei is concerned. And while we're on remakes, the series has to be reanimated for widescreen, no more cropping old 4:3 footage. The Falconer music was legendary and even though they remade it, Kai just couldn't compete with the drama and flavour the OG music gave Z.

I remember the music always was paced just right for how the show was going like if frieza was doing killing someone or goku was powering up there was music that matched it or just watch the early 2000 dub for the android saga and listen to the background music the ominous music played for the androids or trunks’s theme when he appears to destroy frieza it fit but the new stuff just suck
It is the hyperbolic time chamber theme, but it was used multiple other times too, most notably when Gohan goes ssj2 for the first time in the cell games and when goku goes ssj3 for the first time fighting Majin Buu.

It feels futuristic, alien, like how many of our cast are from outer space, but also mythological and mystical, like the themes that inspired it, and the more magical characters like the Kais, Majins, or even the Mystical Dragon Balls. It sounds innocent like 16 or goku, or can capture the black-air-force energy of cell and vegeta, or baddassery of Pikkon, man, this is the defacto DBZ score for me.
The fact that some people don't like this soundtrack shows you that not all opinions are created equal. Like, are you serious? I hate the other scores, they're so obnoxious and don't fit the show at all. This shit made the fights so much more epic
There were 4 composers on this soundtrack, Bruce only doing between 5 and 10 percent of these songs himself. Scott Morgan wrote Pikkon's theme as the very last theme he wrote for the show, so I guess he wanted to go out with a bang.

That soundtrack could only be loved by people living in some English spoken countries and who discovered dragon ball universe very late,like USA... You cannot love that soundtrack if you did some martial arts,watched old jackie Chan movies,Bruce lee movies and hong kong movies like "yes Madam" or "in the line of duty"... You have to be you and accept to live a full asian experience,cause most soundtrack in japanime in the 80's 90's sounded like DBZ japanese ost,the same people who loved that american ost are the same who made "DB evolution"... And las but not least...you can never ever love those american and non original ost if you watched DB before DBZ... I discovered DB Universe in 1990 😅
