In season 3 they actually recategorized the battle types and got rid of at least two. I think the first one was called technical? But I can't really remember, but eithe way it was really not that different from unique. Ram also used to be under shooting as well weirdly lol. Goldlewis was also previously the only power type. May was labelled as balance and Potemkin was a "power grappler" lol. So that's why the description for power says "his" in it, they just never updated the descriptions. Zoning was also only added with the recategorization. Also I just remembered I think there was also one called "high speed" or something? Which was also kinda redundant since rushdown existed, and I think only Chipp and Millia used it
They're doing a lot of work on making new content for the game and I appreciate it But I really wish they had a smaller team dedicated to some tiny issues like these descriptions. That and giving us an actual character select theme😭
If I remember correctly, the categories were Balance, High Speed, Rushdown, Long range, Shooting, Power, Power Grappler, Oneshot, Unique, and Technical
IIRC one-shot doesn’t mean high one shot damage. One-shot means you get one chance to take the round. So Nago is one-shot because if he messes up his one chance to steal a round and pops his blood meter it’s pretty much a guaranteed loss. Honestly tho, A.B.A could probably also use the one-shot archetype.
I think why shooting and Zoner are two different archetypes because zoners HAVE to stay at a distance to be at their most effective. However, shooting characters are only chucking projectiles DIRECTLY AT the opponent and, in the case of Happy Chaos, are actively DISCOURAGED from spacing away from their opponent.
She'll def. be either zoning or unique. She relies more on zoning though so i'm willing to bet she'll be that. Shes always a bit more on the complex side so def. not balance since those seem to be comprised of mostly 'unga-bunga characters'. Anyways, realy nice vid!! Have an incredible day/night!! Edit: Referring to Dizzy here
I think they need to give Potemkin "iron shield" or "grappler" as his battle type, either as a reference to his archetype, or a reference to his title in zepp.
How is an 8 way air dash for instant overheads the thing that makes bedman harder to use than ABA? It’s weird for sure but ABA and Faust’s gimmicks are a lot harder to manage imo as you need to adapt your play style on the fly. Bedman’s error follow ups have some decent depth to them, and allow for some disgustingly long pressure, but the air dash in comparison is a pretty simple tool, just super unconventional. But anything I say isn’t exactly coming from the most experience; I only played a bit of bedman when they released, so this comes from the perspective of an opponent. Idk if Bedman is secretly like super complex, Zato-level technical, but lots of UA-camrs seem to be unsure or say bedman’s difficult, which confuses me cuz I have no idea why.
It’s crazy to me that you put Asuka so much higher than Zato and Jack-o. Don’t get me wrong he’s definitely one of the hardest characters, but from what I’ve seen, Magic Twink Gaming has kinda been solved like a MTG control deck. Like, there IS a correct combo of cards to do in most situations to best deny your opponent the screen, and that takes some of the difficulty out of the character. It definitely turns the players into a walking info dump of possible spell pulls and optimal spell sequences tho, which is still hard. I’d still kinda put Zato as the hardest character, and just behind him/equal to him Jack-O. Asuka’s spells are just too obnoxiously powerful to make his gameplan or execution as difficult as theirs. He still needs a doctored of tech to be absorbed to play well (kinda like high level Faust of Bridget) which is really in character for a Wizard lol.
I guess the whole thing with reacting to your drawn spells while managing mana and some of the spells are actually kinda tricky to use like The fire cubes that count down or up, The lightening pages that increase damage depending on the amount of spells used in a round, And the staffs in general Made Asuka seem pretty overwhelming to me as compared to just an execution barrier with jacko and Zato BUUUUUT for most levels of play, you can auto pilot by just using the projectiles > get into test case 3 > use super to draw exodia > profit
HOW THE FUCK Are Anji, Bridget and Ram in Balance?!??! They just throw random shit at you, mix you for ages, and in the case of ram and anji, explode you for no reason.
Balance- rushdown but slow Rushdown- rushdown but fast Unique- rushdown but weird Zoning- rushdown but projectiles Power- rushdown but high damage One shot- rushdown but higher damage Shooting- rushdown but gun
Two things. First, funnily enough, the battle types have gotten changed around a bit over the course of the years but I distinctly remember Ramlethal Valentine being labeled as in the "Shooting" category before being changed to where she is now. But yeah, it's always struck me a bit odd that Nago is just in a battle style of his own since the launch of GG:Strive Secondly, I think Dizzy will be in Zoning. Considering I remember seeing someone make mention that Season 4 is gonna be the season of Setplay Zoners, (as Season 3 was the season of rushdowns basically). Since Dizzy and Venom are set play zoners in earlier editions of Guilty Gear. Unika has similar design themes to Justice going off the trailer, and Lucy from Cyberpunk is a netrunner (so hacking) with a wire (used as a whip). I know Strive tends to change characters from previous editions with a bit of changes of tune ups but I don't think they've ever drastically changed someone's kit to be unrecognizable from previous editions. I don't see any reason why Dizzy would go from Setplay zoner to something like Power or Rushdown.
Yeah they really screwed around with the battle types in strive Chipp and Millia were "high speed" before being changed to "rushdown" And Pot was "power grappler" before being "power" And I agree with you on Dizzy too, I can't imagine her as anything apart from zoning But they did rework characters like Ramlethal like crazy from xrd to strive so it could really be anything
I was happy with this video at first, but it started off talking about the types then giving a breakdown for each character of that type. Got lazy later on and didn't have descriptions and breakdowns of the characters I wanted. Can't give this one a like.
ok, i see it sorry about this, I was trying to get something out and ended up botching it in my hurry I definitely could've fleshed some of the types more like unique and zoning

Sin used to be a rush down which is definitely how i play him. (I am bad at video games)
Leo also used to be balanced I think

From the future I can say that Dizzy got unique type
Exactly the voice I'd expect a Chipp player to have
thank you?

Babe, wake up. The goat uploaded a video
Im up uwu
yay shooting!! the crowd roars with excitement!
Unique characters are and will always be the coolest type and you can’t convince me against it
Jack-O is more of a setplay character, she becomes easy once you know what u wanna do, get a knock down, set up a goober, win
She'll def. be either zoning or unique. She relies more on zoning though so i'm willing to bet she'll be that. Shes always a bit more on the complex side so def. not balance since those seem to be comprised of mostly 'unga-bunga characters'. Anyways, realy nice vid!! Have an incredible day/night!!

I love how this is already outdated bc of Chipp
one shot is a power type character with an additional meter to manage. thats the only way slayer not being in that category makes sense to me
happy chaos cannot be called a zoner imo. hit scan zoning isn't normal and shouldn't be legal lmaao. Great vid as always. and play weird characters
I only play weird characters :(... oh and Pot :)
Might be me but I always though of Nago's one shot as "The conversion is so good you only need to touch them to start your game"
I mean cmon dizzy has to be a zoner, that's what she was in xrd sooo
I always assumed One shot was because if Nago goes for it he either one shots you or pops and gets one shot
I agree with this. In the Spanish version, Nagoriyuki is labeled as "Todo o nada", which means "All or nothing" 😅
Absolute Banger, Road to 1000 here we come
Thanks for always being there bro,
That 1k has eluded me for so long,
October should hopefully be the month,
I'm so close
So...
I ended up hitting much earlier than I expected 😅
@@ozi-g-be well that was fast 😭
You cooked. Got a number of good laughs outta me
1:08 I've left scars 😅
I paid $60 just to not play the game 😭😭😭
I think they need to give Potemkin "iron shield" or "grappler" as his battle type, either as a reference to his archetype, or a reference to his title in zepp.
I would say bed man is more complex than Aba and Faust if you take in to account a 8 way airdash

Id love to hear what I’m missing from the equation when considering the Bed-man execution sauce.

you can auto pilot by just using the projectiles > get into test case 3 > use super to draw exodia > profit
Yeah that’s fair.
Awesome video
dizzy, jam and this guest one from cyberpunk will be 'fansevice'
Sol be a balance type but hes a rush down with the way he ungas and bungas
If we're going by the definitions they're giving, Asuka should be in the Shooter category lol
HOW THE FUCK
Are Anji, Bridget and Ram in Balance?!??!
They just throw random shit at you, mix you for ages, and in the case of ram and anji, explode you for no reason.
The zotto and baikin battle type is: low tier
Allowing ABA to keep Danzai RC but Baiken losing parry RC is crazy work
I know Danzai isn't technically a DP but still
@@ozi-g-be hahaah true
Wdym Anji dont have special mechanic?

lets be real every character in strive is a rushdown
Balance- rushdown but slow
Rushdown- rushdown but fast

Power- rushdown but high damage

Shooting- rushdown but gun
What's the song at the end of the video
It's called "Faster" by Good Kid.
But what I used as the outro is their lofi remix version called "Faster vs"
Thanks for watching till the end
I've added the song link to the description
Was supposed to do that regardless but forgot so thanks
ArcSys archetypes are just random stuff nobody takes seriously. It's a hater comment
You say hater comment but you're low key kinda right😭
Where do u put queen dizzy?!
I would guess zoning or shooting,
But arcsys can throw a curve ball and make her one shot for all we know
@@ozi-g-be she can be part tactical. Part rushdown. Part zoning. Has good arsenal and good rushdown combos
